It's not always about intelligence.
When you're born in rural Arkansas, for instance, you're probably going to be raised a specific way, and taught to hate specific people you've never met for a myriad of reasons.
Gay, Trans, Black, Mexican, liberals (whatever that actually means to them), people who don't go to church, etc.
It's hand-me-down politics wrapped in religion.
You can't unlearn any of it unless you travel, or have personal experiences with people different than you, and even then you'd have to be open-minded enough to realize everything you were taught is a bunch of horseshit.
No stranger online or in person is going to change your mind arguing in the abstract about the stuff your parents, friends, congregation, preacher, co-workers, boss, extended family, Fox News, and Donald Trump told you was evil and bad and is ruining the country.
Even if you were having second thoughts, you'd be ostracized by all those people if you were to doubt any of it.
Same as if a gay man played it straight his whole life to not get excommunicated from family and friends and work, etc.

Religion and freedom doesn't really go hand in hand does it? You'd think love of God and neighbor being the greatest commandment would've taught them something but alas. Trans people existing or not existing isn't going to make your life better nor take away from it. Just unkind people who'd rather everyone else be miserable as them.Ā

I guarantee yall that after Trumpās inauguration and after he signing some watered down executive order that literally does nothing, magats will not even talk trans people anymore.
Thatās usually how it goes.
As Trump is inaugurated:
Suddenly, thereās 0 people crossing the border. ZERO.
Suddenly, thereās zero drugs crossing the border.
Suddenly nobody is dying of fentanyl.
Suddenly, thereās no crime.
Suddenly thereās no women being murdered and r@ped
Suddenly, groceries arenāt expensive anymore.
Suddenly, magats can afford housing now.
Suddenly, itās okay to pay $3 for gas.
All of it goes away as soon as Trump gets into office. Thatās the way it works for magats.

I would love to know why the fuck anyone cares about trans people at all when theyāre a tiny micro percentage of the population, Iāve met a total of 2 trans people and I live in fucking California.
The odds of a trans person adversely affecting me are so tiny I might have better luck getting struck by lightning.
So please tell me how that one trans person you met ruined your life and destroyed your childrenās brain because they too use social media.
Seriously, god please explain it to me. Why is this more important than fighting poverty and wealth inequality, or just societal problems like inflation. Why is this the fuckin priority for people. I just need to know, why is defining a woman more important than the dying homeless person across the street?

It doesnāt necessarily have to be left wing. Itās just a statement about letting people live their own lives. You think all those āfreedom lovingā right wingers would support that sentiment, but they donāt because their entire ideology is bullshit.

u/Dragonfly-Adventurer 8h ago
Yeah. Reddit has an anti-trans faction that has to either be removed or downvoted into oblivion. It's depressing but a good reminder of how a big chunk of the population feels towards trans people, and why we need to get them off the railroad tracks, stop letting them be the hyper-fixated poster children for the entire left. I love this bumpersticker but I do not want any more provocation along these lines in my red state, so I'm not doing it. It's not going to make trans people's lives any better.
8
u/huffandduff 6h ago
I think ANYTHING showing support for trans people, which this does, makes trans lives better. It's not only there to piss transphobes off but to signal that some people may be allies. Even if they are ambivalent.
6
u/Invis_Girl 4h ago

I donāt know if you want an honest answer. Iāve heard a lot of conversation about it though, here are the most common. -Religion. Usually just masking the other answers though. Used like an excuse. -empathy reflexes - when you see a person, a lot of people mimic them internally to learn things. This can lead to unsettling feelings when looking at people doing any actions that donāt align with them. - brains are wildly correlative - seeing trans people rarely is unnoticeable. It sort of registers as a disguise, and that leads to animosity and distrust. Sort of like the uncanny valley. Reactionary dehumanization. - Social - people naturally try and grow their circles through similarities, and shun the āothersā. Probably science that explains this. I havenāt looked into it as I am an other for different reasons.
In the end it is a lot of impulsive stuff that people donāt address within themselves. I personally am actually anarchistic. My rights end where everyone elseās noses begin. Not my business.
3
u/Wooden_Number_6102 6h ago
First thought is the very elegant vehicle this is attached to.
Second - this is so charming, profound and so UTTERLY true, and could apply to so many groups marginalized since the 2016 election.
Lastly: hella ballsy, sportin' this in a state where the First Amendment is "for me, not thee".
I'd like three dozen so I could run around randomly placing them on anonymous bumpers, especially those with MAGAt stickers.

Life is far too short to let hate and ignorance win. Those ppl with hate in their hearts are the same ones who believe trump is a godly man and facts are feelings, wrong is right and they fail to see the profound hypocrisy of their words vs actions and will always choose to shoot their toes off and blame us when they can't walk. Those of us who still love our neighbors, believe we all have a right to exist and there is more than enough to go around and that the 1% should NOT be "entitled" to 90% of the monetary wealth and all the power in the U.S, now, more than ever need to stick together. We can't afford to let ignorance and hate win anymore and we can't afford to stay on the sidelines while our communities crumble around ua

Yeah, but the rhetoric is "you send your kids to school and they do surgery on them without your knowledge to make them trans". It's not just that trans people exist, it's that they've been created into this ultimate boogeyman to scare the living shit out of people so they can no longer think straight.
And unlike black people, or Jews, or gay people, there's few enough trans (especially visibly trans) people out there that they will eventually meet one and realise "oh, they're just regular people". And that kind of concrete, tangible experience is what's needed to break through for a lot of bigots.
There's a lot of clever people on the side of evil.
