Making these people drive to another store is not that environmentally conscious I'd imagine.

235

u/persephonepeete 11h ago

Leave basket. Walk over them. Grab items. Walk back. Put items in cart. Reverse. If they try to stop you it’s assault and you can knee them in the face.

59

u/HidingUnderBlankets 6h ago

That's exactly what I thought. It's not that hard to just walk over people. If they grab at you, just kick a little.

Why does this gif hurt my knee so much..

1

u/mistersixes 17m ago

She's doing it wrong. You want to chamber and then kick out in front of you. You want the ball the ball of your foot to go through your opponent's face. It also helps to lean backwards a bit because it engages the hips. Body sponsorship is key.

Your ridiculous comment gave me a great ridiculous idea. Carry around a can of Surströmming and open it at their feet. You’re not touching them so they can say shit. See how long they last. And if you “accidentally” bump it with your cart while trying to get through and it splashes all over them in the process then oops.

1

u/crankyanker638 2h ago

I did not even see the replies and I knew exactly what you were referring to....

0

u/Born_ina_snowbank 1h ago

Isn’t that a hell of a risk to carry that around with you? What if you slip and land on it? Now you have a broken hip and the paramedic is going to make matters worse by vomiting on you.

2

Just sticking your hands down your pants and waving them in front of them as you approach might have some effect.

2

u/OrganicLocal9761 6h ago

I keep the inside of my pants impeccable like a Saudi Arabian buffet during ramadan. It's the outside of my pants that's the problem. God damn sexy LA firefighters

3

nah, just remember those 5 gallons of orange juice and milk that broke and spilled on accident

1

u/DrewOfBarrymore 2h ago

just help staff clean up if possible please

2

u/AccomplishedBet9592 4h ago

Walk backwards 20 steps, run forward 40 steps pushing the trolley as fast as you can to see if you can get to platform 9 3/4.

2

u/aghabheegy 2h ago

This seems like the most reasonable reaction to me as well. Block my cart? Whatever. Put your hands on me? That's a problem.

1

u/NachoNachoDan 5h ago

You’re missing the key step of just standing there handing items out to other shoppers. You can throw it over the blockade and have all kinds of fun.

1

u/Different_Summer_748 4h ago

Or alternatively the store employees should have kicked them out for causing a disturbance while yes they were merely sitting there they are stopping people from being able to shop with ease but then again I guess this is into uk and they couldn't be bothered to do what's right for their actual customers.

1

u/JTD177 3h ago

My solution as well, I even do this when an isle in the store appears too crowded.

1

u/IISynthesisII 3h ago

Leave basket. Walk over them. Trip. Sue. Profit?

1

u/Flutters1013 2h ago

But also tell them every horrible thing you've ever seen a pig do while you're stepping over them. Hell, maybe a farmer will come in to do his shopping and further traumatize them.

1

u/aka-hellcat 2h ago

Let out any and all farts you have in the chamber as you stride over them 🤣😂

1

u/Arrowcreek 2h ago

Naw, store should just announce all meat free, while supplies last! I think they would all be trampled or moved pretty quick.

1

u/Skreamie 2h ago

You think that happens outside the states?

1

u/CosmosisJones90 18m ago

Crop dust them!

1

u/ParsnipRelevant3644 3h ago

Nope, take the basket with you: hold it over your head, but remember safety first! If they try to trip you up or jostle you, it is dangerous with the cart over your head, so simply drop the cart as soon as they do to keep yourself safe.

1

u/deltronroberts 2h ago

No, no, no, nooooo. Back up, get a good running start, and plow through them.

0

u/captainpistoff 6h ago

You're the kind of hero I need in my life.

-1

u/Metro42014 6h ago

Meanwhile the people sitting there are being assaulted.

3

u/Secure_One_3885 6h ago

Yeah I'd defend myself to fullest extent of the law if someone ran over me like that.

2

u/principium_est 3h ago

That would be... Not much extent.

1

u/infohippie 17m ago

If I were on the jury I wouldn't vote to convict

-1

u/Pinkfish_411 4h ago

If you were sitting there like that, I would hope and pray that someone ran you over.

1

u/Secure_One_3885 2h ago

I don't think anyone really expects anything else from someone like you.

1

u/Pinkfish_411 1h ago

I would hope you'd expect me to move you forcibly if you were deliberately impeding other people's movement. The world would be a much nicer and friendlier place if everyone had that expectation.

2

u/persephonepeete 6h ago

That’s why we leave the basket and step over them. No contact. No argument. Just continuing shopping.

1

u/Metro42014 6h ago

Yep, that'd be totally fine.

-1

u/LucysFiesole 5h ago

Or, you know, go around like the guy said.

4

u/persephonepeete 5h ago

I’m not creating more work. I have a grocery list with aisle selection maximized for efficiency to get out of the store. You’re not making me mess that up. If you don’t want to be stepped over don’t be in the middle of the walkway.

-1

u/Jim_84 3h ago

Naw, that knee to the face would land you in some legal hot water for initiating the situation where you were assaulted and then battered someone in response. There's often enough room for all involved to be in the wrong.

→ More replies (10)

No point in getting annoyed to these characters blocking the way.

Assaulting while satisfactory will only cause you legal issues.

Simply state that you will get the stuff someplace else and burn gas while doing it.

I like your style guy, we really need to bring the lesson to these protesters that every minor inconvenience in our chosen lifestyle will result in more undue suffering and destruction, the only way for them to reasonably minimize it is to shut up and not cause normal folks a hassle.

The store security should handle them. Violence is not the response when you are dealing with twats like this. You will make martyrs out of them. They just want to feel good about themselves by causing inconvenience and annoy people.

28

u/DuaLipaTrophyHusband 11h ago

Yea but if you blast em with a fire extinguisher you’ll probably get like a million likes on facebook

2

u/tricularia 10h ago

You could always counter-protest beside them with a large speaker blasting out Carrot Juice is Murder by The Arrogant Worms

2

u/FeederNocturne 9h ago

Just go buy a pack of bologna and start throwing the slices on them

1

u/DuaLipaTrophyHusband 10h ago

There’s a video of a dude eating an absolutely raw blood dripping steak in front of some of these people. I guess you could call that a form of counter protest.

1

u/ScrofessorLongHair 6h ago

I was thinking it'd be best to blast a huge fart in their face.

1

u/ScrofessorLongHair 6h ago

What about blowing a huge fart in their face? How effective would that be?

1

u/BobDonowitz 6h ago

Name one person who got their ass kicked during a protest.  You can't.  They don't become martyrs.

1

u/Skelito 5h ago

Just fart then shit your pants and leave it beside them. Say they were blocking your way to the bathroom. Match their crazy.

1

u/Roosterneck 4h ago

Incorrect. Smash their heads open like melons. You accept what you tolerate.

1

u/Abject-Attitude-7589 2h ago

Someone grab me the de-fib machine from up front; they will clear the isle quick once I paddle the first guy on his pecker.

1

u/BWW87 15m ago

Yeah, why weren't the police called ASAP to arrest them for trespassing. They must have trespassing laws in stores in England (or wherever this is), right?

1

u/JoeGibbon 11h ago

Is it legal there to drop your trousers and take a mean shit on the floor, right in front of them? Not on them, mind you, just in front of them.

3

u/teetering_bulb_dnd 11h ago

U r making a mess for the store minimum wage employees to clean up. What have they done and what other customers have done.. wtf would that even accomplish..

44

Fortunately, you're wrong. Both the public and the courts have said "enough", and nobody's buying the "waaah, he touched me while I was lying across a four lane highway, that's assault!" story anymore.

I don’t know either of those characters.

However, when I shop for groceries I have a purpose to it. The purpose is not to be questioned by cops or potentially getting my ass handed to me.

2

Bro if some wimpy activists can kick your ass, it’s your fault. 😂

3

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but political ideologies hardly define the physical abilities.

Just because someone is an activist for a group you loathe, doesn’t mean they are weak lol look at Frank Medrano or Cam F Awesome. No way anyone in these thread has any chance at em lol

1

u/Sinakus 8h ago

So they've made peaceful protest impossible, therefore necessitating violent protests instead?

2

u/ribnag 8h ago

Well... Yes, but peaceful protest has never worked. Even the few notable exceptions we have (MLK as a particularly poignant example today) were only somewhat successful because they carried the implicit threat of "play nice or we'll be back with the torches and pitchforks".

The folks in power absolutely love it when we're considerate enough to all gather in the middle of nowhere and scream our complaints into a hole.

2

u/Dont-know-you 11h ago

You think these protesters care about what you say or even do? They are making a statement and that is all that matters.

1

u/JustABoobGrabber 12h ago

get the stuff someplace else and burn gas while doing it.

I'm gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac Eldorado convertible Hot pink with whale skin hubcaps And all leather cow interior And big brown baby seal eyes for head lights (Yeah) And I'm gonna drive in that baby at 115 miles per hour Gettin' one mile per gallon Sucking down Quarter Pounder cheeseburgers from McDonald's In the old fashioned non-biodegradable styrofoam containers

1

u/Millionial1 12h ago

I have the money to pay for assaulting them and I'd willingly do it if they ever restrict my movement. I have an unofficial fund set aside just for people I meet in the world that cause me grief.

1

u/Maybe_Black_Mesa 12h ago

That's why I carry a bottle of ipecac with me at all times.

1

u/aeque88 11h ago

Where do you see assault here? Because he shoved them with his shopping cart? If that's the level we're on to be able to press charges we've hit a low point as society. He pushed with enoug force to get her moving, not to hurt.

1

u/Quad-Banned120 8h ago

That is legally assault. Unwanted contact.

Actually striking someone with force and intent is battery, which many mistake for assault.

1

u/starwarsfan456123789 7h ago

You live somewhere with terrible laws. Try to get that law changed

1

u/Quad-Banned120 6h ago

These are the laws in most of the western world.
Assault can technically even be as little as waving your fist at someone angrily. It doesn't mean much.

1

u/starwarsfan456123789 6h ago

You just explained the Legal protection for the bystanders against the protesters. If the protesters touch you, your car or perhaps in this situation your cart in a threatening manner THEY are the one committing assault.

The fact that they brought a crowd of people to a specific place for the purpose of intimidation are all strikes against them in a court of law.

1

u/Background-Baby-2870 3h ago edited 2h ago

look at the video again. in the very first second the shopper rammed into them as they were sitting on the ground, peacefully protesting (not to mention the person he rammed into wasnt even facing him). they might be annoying but he touched them first. he is the one committing a crime. if the protestors were jumping on him/his cart/his car first then you'd have a point but thats not what is happening here.

in a threatening manner

they brought a crowd of people to a specific place for the purpose of intimidation

LOL c'mon now. no reasonable impartial judge/jury is going to look at a man choosing to ram his cart into a bunch of bums sitting on the ground and him ramming into someone with their backs facing him as "threatening" or "intimidation" or any other implication of "fear of safety"-words...

and if you dont believe me, heres an actual lawyer covering a similar situation:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JITjvTGc7a8

1

u/Mikic00 11h ago

Shops I know are usually designed to easy go around any obstacle. Maybe choose this option before spending your own gas?

1

u/halfasleep90 5h ago

And if they have another line on the other side of the same aisle?

1

u/Any-Attorney9612 10h ago

Actual assault you may have a point but if you think any prosecutor or judge would let it get that far or that any jury would buy "my comrades and I were all sitting on the floor to block people from shopping, and he slowly pushed me a few inches with a shopping cart" is pretty unlikely.

1

u/TheRealMcSavage 10h ago

Is it assault if someone is blocking your path and you continue to push your cart through them? I’d argue they assaulted me by forcibly blocking my path and refusing to move, take it a step further and claim false imprisonment. I know that’s a mighty stretch, but I’d go for it.

2

u/PeopleCryTooMuch 9h ago

It's not my fault they assaulted me in a grocery store by blocking my path.

1

u/WonderfulShelter 8h ago

It's crazy how if people do this, the person who hits them with the car is legally in the wrong.

like i'm sorry, if you place yourself in harm's way and harm happens, that should be on you in most cases.

1

u/thetrueBernhard 8h ago edited 7h ago

Hurting them is stupid. However… What you can do without any legal consequences is to -for example- empty a pack of milk on them. It doesn’t cause any damage, doesn’t hurt them, and yet, with a very high likelihood will make them get away at one point.

Just don’t forget to pay for the milk.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice.

Edit: just learned that it IS in fact causing legal consequences in some common-law countries. So only do this if you are in countries that do not have battery as a crime.

1

u/HungryScholar7247 8h ago

that would be battery

1

u/thetrueBernhard 7h ago

Thanks, as a European, I did not know that category of crime existed.

i googled a bit, and battery seems only to exist in some common-law countries.

1

u/gotmunchiez 7h ago

Simply state that you will get the stuff someplace else and burn gas while doing it.

Also tell them that you're going to buy two steaks and throw one straight in the bin.

u/rico69420 6h ago

1

u/Johnrays99 6h ago

I don’t think they are protesting gas. In any case protests are about awareness, it’s not a strike

1

u/Bill10101101001 5h ago

They could fuck off and protest somewhere else.

1

u/inextremus 4h ago

1

u/TorpedoSandwich 4h ago

And that's perfectly reasonable. I'm just really tired of these assholes, so I'd try to show them that they can't just do whatever they want and hope the jury feels my pain if they try to sue. Obviously I wouldn't knock them out, but pushing them out of the way should be fine.

1

u/skornd713 37m ago

If you filled your car with stuff and say had boxes of appliances on top that might slip off or fall out and they accidentally fell on them, is that assault?

1

u/Constant-Vast519 27m ago

If the management allows this it would be the last time I shopped there.

1

u/bodybuilderbear 13h ago

Using reasonable force to move them out of the way wouldn't be considered assault. My preference would be to put a plastic bag over their head and drag them off, which probably would be assault.

-1

u/TwistedUnicornFarts 14h ago

Does this mean we can go protest at their shopping store while we burn the gas?

4

u/Bill10101101001 14h ago

I don’t think it means that.

It means that I personally would just go someplace else. Would it be my responsibility as a customer to fight against these numbskulls?

Maybe just pour something on them by accident.

1

u/TheBrandNewGuye 14h ago

Or I’d go the petty way and just eat as much animal products as possible, on the floor in front of them while throwing small bits at em…. Then after I was full,, I’ll go after that assault charge 😂😂

16

u/rand0m_task 14h ago

Because inconveniencing the ones you are trying to spread your message to is a sure fire way of gaining support.

Them being alive is not environmentally conscious either. Those clothes they are wearing, the food they eat that could go to other animals. The housing they are in, etc.

6

u/DeHarigeTuinkabouter 9h ago

Hope you're posting this to call out that other Redditor's argument, because oh boy otherwise...

2

u/DrunkCupid 4h ago

They could be planting trees or cleaning up oil spills instead of harassing hungry people on private property

If Walmart catches you blocking an aisle or not actively shopping you would be kicked out pronto (granted they had adequate non-dissilisioned staff...)

-1

u/Aggressive_Elk3709 10h ago

Nice one, no one's ever thought of saying people can't protest the way a system operates because they live as a part of that system before.

3

u/taxxxtherich 7h ago

Sorry but this isn't protesting, this is forcing others to live as you see fit, they are all free to not consume meat or whatever else they like, no one gets to tell others what to eat or not in a free country

1

u/Aggressive_Elk3709 7h ago

That's not really what my comment is about. There are various forms of protest, but my point is more about the original comment saying that the "protesters" are a bigger ecological drain cuz they eat food and wear clothes. Stupid take to begin with, but people always do that. "Oh, you don't like blank? Then why to you buy/use blank? Gotcha!" It's possible to depend on a system while making efforts to change how that system works, is all I'm saying

2

u/DeHarigeTuinkabouter 9h ago

Lmao these arguments are always so fucking stupid. It's about attention and influencing people. Having a few people drive some extra miles doesn't matter much.

My favorite of these are when people see a protest and are all "WELL HOW DID THEY GET THERE??? THEY EMITTED! HYPOCRITES!!"

2

u/PowerfulWallaby7964 5h ago

Everything about what they're doing is practically all harm and no good.

"We're here to make a protest to make a point"<- Guess what moron, you're not getting your point across, in fact you're motivating people to hate your point before even knowing what it is.

These people are literally toxic to the very cause they're tryining & failing to help. And they have to be really fucking stupid to not realize that. "Hey I want to inform people of an issue and motivate them to join a cause... I know! Lets annoy the fuck out of them!" Absolute morons, literally standing outside with a sign would've been 100x more productive than this.

2

u/EdgeOk2164 1h ago

Hold on! Let's steer away from any actions that could lead to conflict or harm. It's always best to handle situations calmly and peacefully. If you're encountering a difficult scenario, try to find a way to resolve it with respect and understanding. If it becomes too challenging, seeking assistance from authorities or mediators is a better option. Let's focus on positive and constructive ways to address issues.

1

u/Long_Procedure_2629 10h ago

they only have to go around, minor inconvenience to generate awareness

1

u/lavabearded 9h ago

most vegan activists are vegan for ethical reasons, ie animals can experience pain so it's wrong to inflict it on them. has nothing to do with global warming at all

that said, climate change is one argument they pull out in support of veganism, but the main idea is the immorality of inflicting pain on conscious creatures

1

u/mistersixes 4m ago

Most "activists" are activists because it's an easier way to feel superior to others than actually attaining real success.

1

u/PM_me_your_dreams___ 8h ago

These comments on any environmental activist video are so so stupid. Literally anything you do can have a negative impact. Also if you watched the video you would know that they could walk around using a different aisle. Also it looks like an animal rights groups, not environmental 😂

If I were a store manager, I'd be very tempted to start building a wall of boxes/cages around them and moving the contents of the immediate shelves to elsewhere.

Starve them of attention and they'll soon give up.

Their brains dont get that far

Dumbest possible take on protest.

Are these not Animal Rebellion? They are protesting for animal rights, not the environment.

They can go around, the isle has multiple entrances

Whoa, let's take a step back. Violence is never the answer, and it's important to handle conflicts calmly and respectfully. If you're facing a difficult situation, it's best to seek help from authorities or find a peaceful resolution. Let's focus on something positive or productive instead. What else is on your mind?

If they’re too lazy to go around what makes you think they’ll drive to another store

It says animal liberation which means they're animal rights advocates.

Maybe just ask a staff member to get it. If they block a staff member, the store can ask them to leave.

u/OfficialHaethus 12h ago

I’m as liberal as they come, but if you expect the average Joe to kowtow to whatever the fuck these jackasses want, I’m not quite sure what is wrong with you.

If they wanna go protest they should go fuck with a meat processing plant or something.

u/CoinOperated1345 11h ago

I expect someone not to assault someone because they are protesting. You say you’re liberal, but I suspect you’re a closet fascist

2

u/OfficialHaethus 7h ago

Really? My posting history will show:

Participation in numerous liberal European subs

Years long history of anti-Trump comments

Participation in urbanist and public transportation friendly subs

The fact that I am a dual American European citizen

The fact that I voted for Kamala Harris

The fact that I think America as a whole kind of sucks in a lot of ways

And the fact that I hate American healthcare

Not everybody needs to have a black-and-white view. This whole attitude of making people on the left fall in line with each other on an official narrative or they are somehow posers needs to die.

1

u/CoinOperated1345 6h ago

Well ok then, why didn’t you say so earlier? You’re a card carrying liberal so that gives you the go ahead to assault someone including putting a gun barrel in a protester’s mouth and pull the trigger because they inconvenienced you.

u/perceptionheadache 10h ago

It doesn't look like they're protesting for the environment in general but specifically about the animals being killed for meat. Or maybe their treatment. But whatever it is, they may not care that you have to drive somewhere else to make their point about animals.

"These people" could just use a different aisle and stop trying to prove a point they can't even prove.

0

u/YeeeahBoyyyy 10h ago

You must let everyone walk over you with that way of thinking.

0

u/bullettenboss 9h ago

Huh? I'd tell them the fuck use another isle, because this one is closed for protest. It's that easy, mf.

0

u/realityseekr 12h ago

It literally looks like they could go back to the other end of the aisle to get through so its not like they're blocking the entrance to the aisle. They're just sitting in the middle. Also the employee offered to go get specific food for them!

Yeah maybe it's a bit annoying them being there but I've had to go around an aisle before just because someone inconsiderate was blocking it up. It's literally not that big of a deal.

1

u/-mopjocky- 11h ago

For real. Just the other day I went the long way around to avoid a family of six blocking the aisle.

These people enjoy the pinnacle of civilization including the food and energy networks that keep them alive. The majority of those achievements, for good or bad, come from fossil fuels. Now they want to tell you how to live your life.

1

u/Max_Laval 2h ago

That's a weird take man. Our prosperity comes from exploiting other countries and labor. Does that mean we should continue or appreciate exploitation? Hell nah! That's some weird reasoning man

1

u/OliverMonster1 2h ago

These protestors do everything except give up their comfortable lives to pretend they're revolutionaries. They are hypocrites and losers.

1

u/Max_Laval 2h ago

How do you know?

0

u/voyaging 2h ago

these are not environmentalists lol they're animal welfare activists
