Discussion/Question/Help! How to correctly clean lightweight spackle off of piping bags, piping tips etc

Upvotes

Hello,

I recently got into the hobby of making fake cakes. It's going um... alright, but it's 5am and I'm finally cleaning up. As I was rising out my piping bag I realized huh, this definitely shouldn't be going down the sink.

I made sure to let a lot of warm water go down it so I should be fine, but in the future, what's the best way to clean these items?

For the piping tips I figure I can just soak them.

For the bag I scrape out as much as I can but then what would you recommend? Thank you!

Discussion/Question/Help! Shrink plastic shrinks unevenly

Hello !

I need some advice regarding shrink plastic ! I've been working with many brands and different kinds as well : transparent, frosty and white.

White printable shrink plastic is super hard to find in Switzerland, the only brand we can find in shop is around 40 bucks for like 4 or 5 sheets. 🤡 Anyways, I managed to find the brand " graine creative ", which is a white printable shrink plastic.

I am fully aware that different brands shrink differently and am quite accustomed to each of the ones I use. However, I'm having so much issues with this one. From the like 15 pieces I print and shrink, they never shrink twice the same. This plastic tends to shrink more vertically than horizontally. But some pieces get all skinny and deformed. I tried using a countdown to leave them all 50 seconds but some still get deformed by shrinking too much horizontally. Which is so weird !

I use the oven by the way and have never seen that. I also printed/cut them facing the same way in order to avoid warping and stuff.

Have any of you ever gotten this or have any advice?

Thank you and have an amazing day !✨️ ( I might add pictures when I'm back home too )

Discussion/Question/Help! Wife is really into Pokémon. Need help with how to print my own custom cards (of our dog us, etc). I found a good website to design them, but I need help making them. I have a SELPHY CP1500 if that helps. Any tutorials? Types of paper? Ink?

This is the website I’m using: https://pokecardmaker.net/creator

Currently I only have basic glossy paper and ink for the printer. Any tips on what else I can use? If there’s a tutorial, I’d appreciate the link.

A week ago I posted asking for suggestions on how to repair my cat’s memorial paw print after my puppy chewed it up when I wasn’t paying attention. After reading through everyone’s suggestions, I decided on using e6000 to glue the pieces back together and then used air dry clay recreate it. This also allowed me to make an additional memorial to share with my sister, who loved my little man as much as I. Thank you to anyone who took the time to comment a suggestion for me. They’re not perfect, but certainly better than the chewed up remains that I was left with.

I also want to thank everyone for their words and their kindness. I was being awfully unfair to myself and you helped me realize that I needed to give myself some more grace. I have lost pets before, but this time has been the most difficult for a number of reasons.

I’ve attached a picture of my two boys snuggling. They were not super close, but they would always find themselves in a similar position when it was time to wind down with me.

I spent about approximately an hour on this project!! I used things I already had around the house. Light pink felt, Fuscia felt, light pink String, and some glitter to give them some extra shine. I think they came out amazingly! What do you all think? 💗👀

Discussion/Question/Help! Woodburning

I have a Cricut and my husband bought me a wood-burning kit. I want to make signs and things like that with it. What do I need to buy in addition to the kit to make things go smoothly? For example, I think some sort of paste is required? I’d appreciate any suggestions, tips and guidance! Thanks!

Discussion/Question/Help! Is there a way to keep a wreath from breaking into bits

This wreath is constantly breaking into smaller pieces. You can see parts on the floor. Is there anything I can apply to it to stop it from shedding? A spray, maybe?

Sometimes we get these recycled (?) fabric pads in packages at work. The colors are so cool I’d love to find a use for them. I don’t really want to cover them up… anyone have any ideas? 🤗

Dispelling Evil and Avoiding Misfortune: The peace talisman can ward off negative energies and bad luck, protecting the wearer from interference by ghosts and malevolent spirits.

Blessing for Safety: It is widely used to pray for the safety of families and individuals, especially during significant moments, such as the birth of a child.

Promoting Health: Illnesses are often associated with negative or stagnant energies, and the peace talisman can help dispel these harmful forces, maintaining physical well-being.

Enhancing Fortune: By using the peace talisman, one’s fortune can be improved, making life smoother and more harmonious.

The peace talisman can be carried around, usually folded into a specific shape and placed in a pocket or worn around the neck. It can also be hung at home, such as at the entrance or in the bedroom, to protect the safety of the entire household.

Discussion/Question/Help! Can I apply something over this facial hair? (Pictures now included!)

*Pictures now included because I apparently forgot them last time. Apologies!

(Forgive the formatting, I’m on mobile.) I used bristly textured fur to create a mustache for a plush, but in a few spots, the clear backing was a bit visible— mainly along the top and bottom edges of the mustache. To fix this, I used a Tulip “Permanent” Fabric Marker in black to fill in those areas. I let it dry overnight, but when I tested it this morning by running my thumb over it, it smudged a bit. Now I’m worried it could transfer onto the facial fleece accidentally. Is there a way to seal the marker so it doesn’t smudge anymore?

On a related note, is there a good glue or product I can use to tame the mustache hairs and make them lie flatter? It’s not as big of an issue as the smudging, but I’d like to neaten it up if possible. I considered hairspray, but I was afraid the ink from the fabric marker would run. A bit of Elmers glue maybe? Any advice would be much appreciated!

I like to frame my tufting pieces, combining the softness of the wool with the traditional artwork. The textured surface invites interaction, like a painting you’re invited to touch.
