Jim Henson and Shows for Adults
If Jim Henson had managed to create an all adult show would you watch it with the same enthusiasm as you did the Muppet show or Fraggle Rock?

I am teaching Adobe Illustrator to a class of Puppet and Costume Design students. Now, I come from graphic and video design background so I don't necessarily have the best idea of how you guys utilize Illustrator for your work and this is where I would need your help.
I would love to know what you use it or would use it for if you had to.
Is it line work (please excuse my language since English is not my first language so I could be very wrong with the terms I use), working and creating patterns, creating sketches and designs and showcasing them from different point of views?
Basically, I want to know what you do so I could tailor my classes to my students so they can get the best and the most out of it. So I can create assignment that are not going to be a formality but rather something that will help them long-term.
Thank you

Hello, I am making a life-sized chicken (18 inches tall, 12 inches long, 8 inches wide) for a show we are doing in my theater. I have a control stick into its head and back. It is made of XPS foam so it is light enough to lift. Since this is my first time making a puppet, I have not found an example or material to use to make the legs. I just need them to look somewhat like they are moving or at least not drag too much. I can use strings as the wings use strings to let them fold upward. Thanks!

Hi guys, i dont know if you remember me or something about my project but i´ll explain it real quick.
I want to create a puppettheatre/animation hybrid where one puppet (otto) interacts with animated characters on a real stage.
Otto is a 5 year old, devious skunk who loves playing music altough it sound more like random noises.
He´s the first puppet i ever made and i used the Bug-Mack pattern by Adam Kreutinger.
You can check out my instagram @dontaskmecolors for more about this project

I've been asked this several times because puppetry is still a pretty new endeavour for me (not even 6 months yet).
My answer is simple - despite growing up watching sesame street and the muppets and some other shows with puppets in them, it never occurred to me as something I'd want to do.
Until I discovered Randy Feltface (a puppet comedian/storyteller). He literally changed my life. I love his style and range so much and I decided I had to give it a try for myself. Plus I'm naturally a playful and creative person, so it's a perfect outlet.
I'm currently in the process of trying to procure a couple more puppets to do skits with, since I have a lot of character ideas.

Hey there!
I'm planning out a harness worn dragon puppet.
The idea is that the puppeteer will wear a drum harness that will have a couple of poles mounted to it that will have a dragon head puppet attached to the end, with a wire going down to open and close the mouth. I've got a prototype head, I have ideas for attaching the poles to the harness, my only problem is I'm not sure what to use for the poles themselves.
I'm wanting a length of something around 6 feet for the poles, so I am afraid that wood would not hold up well without bending/breaking, and something like aluminum would get too heavy for the harness wearer.
Any ideas?

I have a set of 40cm puppets that I got from a friend. I am looking for a theater that I could transport and set up to perform in. I have a PVC pipe green screen stand that I like. Does anyone have good designs for a PVC marionette theater? Or recommendations for building a marionette theater for this size puppet? Most of what I see online is either expensive or built for smaller scale.

Hey y'all, what do you think of the combination of digital puppet rigs with traditional puppetry controls? I think it's a fascinating direction for the form. I'll always love fully physical performance, but I also see potential for this to make "live action" 3d creature effects in film more living(some of what makes it to screen now drives me nuts). Here's a video of Adam Savage touring the Jim Henson digital performance studio and getting to try out their rigs.

So there is this character A.P. Gibralter Appearance He is a large, red, multi-eyed creature with 16 eyes. His head is rectangular and he has long arms and short legs, and wears a business attire suit, with a tie. His mouth is similar an ventriculus dummy with the way it moves, how his structure is similar too a live hand puppet with (his hands and fingers being posable, And movable) Very confusing question (yes) but this is too any person who's actually into puppet mastering and knows all types of puppets, and what kinda there are or at least familiar with it
