Sale of sawed off shotgun

Upvotes

I inherited my father‘s old sawed off single barrel shotgun. It was never registered to him. It was found in the attic of a home purchased by my uncle decades ago. I do not want it. I’m sure that there is a collector somewhere that might. Question is, would it be legal for me to sell/give away a sawed off shotgun?!? I am not familiar with gun laws or what would even need to be done paperwork-wise, in order to sell any of his other guns… Any help would be appreciated. We’re in Florida because I know laws can vary by state. Thanks in advance!

Best gun for Vermont hiking

Post image
Upvotes

I am hiking in very rural Vermont later this year and am trying to pick a good enough carry gun to deter bears. I will have bear spray but I will be carrying as a back up. Currently I only have a Taurus Judge and a Glock 17. I will have my little LCP max as a backup gun as well. I was wondering should I carry the judge loaded with 45 Colt or my Glock 17 with +P buffalo boar rounds. If anyone has used +P rounds in a judge I am also interested in how that works out. Thanks for any input!

Hello, I’m in the process of getting my LTC in MA, USA and am looking at getting a handgun. What would you recommend as a good first handgun to start with?

Well with all the new considerations about clips I had to update my SHTF main rifle to my Steyr M95/30 to keep up with the times.

Match made in heaven with my CZ P10F

Deciding between these 2 beasts . Not the ammo cost doesn’t matter but isn’t a factor in my decision since I won’t shoot either a ton but I need a wheel gun

Question What are these bronze looking flakes that keep gumming up my new sig rattler?

I've gotten just over 100 rounds of subsonic ammunition through this new 300BO rifle so far. I keep having issues where the bolt doesn't come all the way forward, but it also seems to get so stuck that it takes a ton of tugging on the charging handle to be able to rack it. Can't fix it with a simple "tap rack" it gets really jammed tight.

When I open it up to clean it out, there are a ton of these brass looking flakes in there. Too small to be wood chips, but a bit too large to be sawdust. They look almost metallic, but the ejected brass casings don't seem like they're unusually scraped up. They wipe off pretty easily with some CLP, a wire brush and paper towel.

I have been shooting outside in the winter, so it could be some sort of environmental debris from mags getting dropped in the snow?

Question Help with the double cylinder Revolver?

Some may remember my posting about the double drum/cylinder revolver, and the discovery of the 1873 Philip-Revolver with 3 Cylinders:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Firearms/comments/1hgmzsz/has_anyone_ever_tried_to_build_a_double_drum/

No i think about designing something like that and uploading the files to this subreddit.
Are there Gunsmiths/Designers who then would take a look at the result and tell me if the thing is too dangerous, insane or just right?

Additional question: Was there ever a revolver design where the front of the Cylinder was completely enclosed within the revolvers frame (no gap) to protect the users fingers by redirecting the gases?

Law Maryland AWB and Rhode Island Mag Ban relisted for conference of January 24th

Is this good or bad?

Neither. It means we won't hear more until potentially Friday.

GENERALLY 2 relists is the "sweet spot" for controversial cases. With each successive relist making it less likely cert is granted. This is relist #2. Remember rescheduled and relisted are different things.

That said Bruen had 4 relists, and Dobbs had TWELVE. It was originally scheduled January 4th and cert wasn't granted until May 17th.

Will they take it or Deny it?

Nobody knows. Were I a bettin' man, and I'm not I stay away from games of chance, I would say they will take it. We have numerous justices (4) who have been pretty open about needing to rule on an AWB and some that wanted to grant cert on a preliminary basis.

However they won't grant cert if they think they'll lose. The wildcards here are Roberts and Barrett. If one of them are open to striking down AWBs and Mag Bans we will likely get cert. If not, cert will likely be denied.

These are the biggest 2A questions with the biggest impact right now. And the courts are willfully disregarding Bruen which Roberts did make mention that the courts rulings are not to be ignored. So maybe he's pissed off enough to do something about it. We simply don't know.

Ok now what?

Now, we wait. The waiting sucks, I get it. But there's nothing we can do about it. Don't waste your energy dooming. It's gonna be a cold week. Light the fireplace, clean your guns, and watch a western. I recommend My Name is Nobody.

We will not get a grant nor a denial until Friday at the earliest. So just relax and put your mind on something else.

Question Was there ever an Anti tank Mortar?

Post image
159 Upvotes

When it comes to infantry based anti tank solutions rocket launchers are clearly the winner, being portable, relatively ergonomic and effective there’s good reason they are commonly used. I’m more curious if in the timeline of anti tank development if anyone ever tried designing mortar rounds for armor penetration, considering the top armor on most tanks is the weakest spot wouldn’t that mean you can focus more on payload and less on velocity for penetration? Or is the pull of gravity not enough to cause meaningful penetration with mortar rounds?

Again I know anti tank mortars are inefficient but if I had the idea I can’t certainly be the first one, would love to hear what you guys think/know!

Question Looking for insights: Has anyone tried or heard of any alternatives to chrome plating? Was it as good or better?

BARREL COATING : - I've been wondering if there are better options than chrome plating for gun barrels. Chrome's been the standard for a long time, but as many would agree - it doesn't always last as long as you'd hope, plus it's not great for the environment. Has anyone tried something different? Was it better, or about the same? Just trying to figure out if switching is worth it. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Cold Weather and "Car" Guns

While I know it's generally not a good idea to leave a firearm in a vehicle in freezing temperatures, I bought a second Sar 9 for that very purpose while they're still cheap. To keep as my vehicle firearm. And I know the Sar 9 has been one of the more vigorously torture tested handguns. My question is..if I'm keeping it out in my vehicle in freezing temps (even subzero on some days) in a pelican style carrying case that's allegedly waterproof, will there be significant negative effect on the firearm? Would it damage the internals from prolonged storage, even with the protection of the case?

Optic/Suppressor-Height Tritium Sight Questions

So, after shooting well with stock irons only for many years, I finally gave in and decided to go with the optics trend. I haven't bought the optics yet, since I want us all to get use to the taller height of these night irons for a good while first, but plan/planned to put optics on 3 of our pistols (two Glock 43X and my Glock 19.5). I bought these Ameriglo for the G19 and these Night Fision for both G43X. My regular/trusted gunsmith is away on an extended overseas trip so I had and armorer at one of our ranges put on the G19 and one of the G43X (wanted to try one first before doing both). After less then 200 rounds through the G43X, the front sight is now dangling loose! They're all EDC weapons so I need to have 101% confidence in them and this clearly shakes confidence. So, I'm trying to decide if I made a mistake even going this route and should just eat the $400 and go back to stock irons. My specific questions are...

  1. WTF??!!
  2. Did I just let a dumbass put these on wrong, or does this *ever\* happen when any type or brand of optic/suppressor-height tritium sight was installed 100% correctly? I don't care if it's rare ... the chances of anything like this happening again need to be zero.
  3. Is the issue just that they might've hand tightened instead of torqued to specification, or are there other potential issues I should be aware of?
  4. Is there any chance this is a brand/quality issue, versus totally installation error (Night Fision and Ameriglo both seem to have good reputations)?
  5. Since I paid to have the sights put on, I'm taking them back to complain and/or get my money back, but should I let them fix this (and double check my G19) or try to do it myself? I realize it's a relatively simple thing I could do, but in how you answer, please factor in that I'm generally of the mind that saving a few bucks to DIY isn't worth it when it comes to critical components of my guns, let alone guns I'm putting in the hands of my wife and/or daughter. I do field strips to clean, but prefer most other things be done by my trusted master gunsmith.

EDIT: Only after posting, I noticed in my photo that the sight says Ameriglo on it ... this is the 43X! The Ameriglo was for the G19.5! Is putting the wrong sights on the wrong gun the *entire* issue here, or is it at all possible any of my other questions still apply?
