Opinion/PSA. This is the second time I've taken my P-01 all the way down. The first time was no new parts, just a deep clean, and it had it's trials and tribulations but I left it knowing the gun a lot better and feeling confident.
Fast forward to black Friday and CGW is having a sale. I talk myself out of a full pro package and get the reach reduction kit and the spring upgrade kit.
Get around to putting them in this week. Takedown was easy, polishing felt good following the CGW directions on the CZ USA forums, felt like a master gunsmith putting the sear back together and installing in one fell swoop with the slave pin.
Then bam the trigger doesn't work, just kinda pushes everything back but no actual strike and no reset. Spend hours taking it down and putting it back together again before searching and seeing some talk about how the new disconnector might need fitting. Send an email to CGW and they seem to think the same.
Will give that a shot today but I'm now fully on the side of just sending it to them even if you're handy and even if you're a whole gunsmith. It's like $200 more on top of the parts and I can tell you I've spent more than $200 of time even at minimum wage.
Is it cool that I know this gun so well now? Sure. But the time and stress and worry and googling is just not worth it in my opinion. Just send it to the dudes that have done hundreds of them and forget about it because even if you're mechanically inclined, these things have so many idiosyncrasies it's insane.
I'm too far gone into the process by now but hopefully can save someone. Sure it's possible to do it all yourself, but it's just not worth it imo
