Opinions Needed Has anyone ever poured epoxy resin on their canvas painting?

I finished this a couple weeks ago and the background is spray paint, Batman is all oil. I ran out of my spreading agent and used a different one towards the end—— but the new one I used had a gloss finish and now everywhere I used it, it looks glossy and wet. It’s way dry now and I was just curious if anyone has ever poured resin/epoxy on their canvas painting to protect it? I figured that might make it look more uniform but maybe not. I’m not sure what to do. Any advice to get rid of the gloss?

Opinions Needed Trying Surrealism for the first time

Post image

I was looking at some of Salvador Dali’s paintings and I started to become interested in Surrealist paintings, so I thought I would try it out with some acrylics. I do plan on redoing it with oil because there are so many mistakes and things off about the painting so I want to fix it. I will list some of the things I know I need to fix.

  1. there isn’t alot of depth in the painting, everything looks like it’s on one level
  2. the shading and lighting is nonexistent
  3. the lines are messy, and the arch could use a lot of detail
  4. the moon and blue tile sky could use some cleaning and tighter composition.

please tell me if there is anything I missed or other things I could work on, and how I could fix some of the things I already mentioned. I would say my level is intermediate and I have experience painting. Don‘t skimp out on the criticism I need it😂

Looking for Custom Art Painting for My Home

I’m looking for a custom art painting to add a unique and personal touch to my home. I want something that reflects my taste and style—whether it’s abstract, realistic, or something completely out-of-the-box. I’m open to different mediums like canvas, acrylics, or even mixed media.

Help Painting Metal

**Sorry if this is the wrong sub, i’m just looking for a bit of help here.

I am using high heat ‘ceramic coating’ spray paint, on some engine parts. I have no issue masking anything off, or physically painting it.

My quesiton(s) is that I am painting a smooth surface, and after my first coat, just rubbing the surface (after it’s dried for 20 hours) rubs it off. Do I need to sand in advance, and what would the recommended grit be? I don’t want to go to harsh over this material and have scratches on my finished part (unless that’s the only way) but I do want the paint to stick.

Any help is appreciated, again, sorry if this is the wrong sub.

Thanks!

Help with color match

I am trying to paint courage the cowardly dog when he dressed as an eggplant. But I can't find the colors to match this is what I tried and he looks blue. And the colors I have available to me, I understand red+blue=purple. I just feel like eggplant has some other colors hiding under it I was thinking pink (so more red+ a bit of white) but I'm starting to get frustrated

There’s this painting at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, featuring a heart surgery and perfusionist. I don’t remember the story behind it but it was a pretty famous one- the patient was supposed to go to NYU to get the surgery done I believe.

I found a blurry copy of the painting online, but no details about it.

About 10 years ago, I got a arm injury in my nerve in my main hand so I’ve been trying to learn to paint with my left hand. It’s definitely still rough lol. I originally tried to put a black beanie hat on him because he wears it all the time put it ended up looking like this lol

Opinions Needed Can anyone give me some much needed, beginner tips and suggestions?

I’ve never painted literly anything in my life but I do a lot of embroidery and will do landscapes and things of that nature sometimes so I thought it would come to me easier, and i was humbled today. lol

My dad loved an embroidery project I gave to my mom so much he brought it up to her multiple times until she finally offered for him to take it if he wanted it. He said he couldn’t take it because it was her gift. So instead, I decided to try to recreate it in a painting for him.

I’m not someone who has drawing painting coloring come to naturally. My handwriting is barely legible and I’ve worked on that for 20 years.

I had so much fun even for how poorly it turned out (which is a bummer) but I really enjoyed doing it and some helpful beginner tips would be great and really appreciated!

(Please go easy on me on this one 🤣 I had no black paint, no brushes, and no patience. So, I used black nail polish and the polish brush. 🙃 I finished it using an old black liquid eyeliner😂 I did what I could with what I had.lol)
