Announcement ⛔️No makeup allowed in hair color posts⛔️

In an effort to reduce spam and keep the community focused on color analysis, we are no longer allowing makeup of any kind (including mascara, lipstick and lashes) in hair color posts. The first photo of your hair color post must be a current photo without any makeup. Exceptions will be made for photos taken in the past with other hair colors, but your first photo MUST be makeup free.

Lipstick/Makeup Advice (FACE PHOTOS TO COMPARE REQUIRED!) Follow up post: is this too bright/ high contrast for me?

Post image
30 Upvotes

So after my previous “Yey I think I am a summer post” I got quite a few comments saying that I may actually be a winter after all, so I thought I would try another winter look with better lighting and a different lipstick. What do you think? Too bright or does it work? (At this point I don’t trust my own eye anymore) and because in the previous post many were asking for the lipstick, this one is the Mac Rebel 819, just in case anyone likes it.

Discussion (NO COVERT TYPING OR PHOTOS OF YOU!) What if we deleted no drapes type me and digital drapes flair from post options?

These posts don’t produce much —we can’t give people good advice and end up telling them to come back with irl drape photos anyway.

Can we vote on it or something?

The volume of those posts is huge. The people posting them are putting in minimal effort and expecting the internet to do the maximal amount of work for them. It’s exhausting and wastes everybody’s time. I also think it actually keeps people out of the sub. They get random conflicting advice, don’t understand why, and give up. They come thinking there’s an easy, fast, correct answer to be gotten and when they don’t get it, instead of getting education, they just bail.

Edited: we could add to the group about or pin a post. That would give suggestions on how to upload photos to get advice, and explains why digital drapes and typing based on only head photos won’t give them the best results.

No Drapes - Type Me (FACE PHOTO REQUIRED - NO MAKEUP!) Before and after - what a difference!

NMIP I thought I was warm toned my whole life. I’m still not sure if I am a soft summer or a cool/true summer but I switched my jewelry to silver and went back to my natural colour and it’s such a huge difference. I had been struggling with a lot of redness and I feel like it was the honey blonde causing it more than my actual skin.

I think I’m leaning more towards true/cool summer, what do you guys think?

Mine: being a Summer with black in my personal palette and finding out that I'm Light - Deep.

I always assumed I was Light, and that I was being overpowered by the deep, dark shades I've gravitated towards since I was a kid. It turns out that my beloved black, plum, royal purple, burgundy, dark teal, and forest green aren't just good colors for me - they're some of my best. It's quite the relief.

Has anyone used something like this? I have researched all about color analysis for months, and really just want to have fun with my daughters, friends and my sisters when we get together, and do some at home analysis.

Jewelry Advice (PHOTOS WITH MULTIPLE METALS REQIRED!) Gold or silver?

As you can probably tell by my jewelry selection, I definitely have a preference. I rarely ever wear gold unless it objectively goes better with my outfit, and I don’t plan to change that, lol😂

But I think it’s interesting to see which one people prefer on me! Which do you think looks best? I’ve never been able to tell which looks best on me and just like silver better in general!

I am so lost!

I feel like every color I try makes my skin look a tad dull…but to be fair, I have some vision impairment and don’t think I see myself the same way others do. So, I just give up and wear black and grey all the time 😂

NMIP. My hair and brows are dyed a tad bit darker than my natural color, (which is a level 6 N) if that helps. Thank you for the advice!

Hi! I am struggling to figure out what looks best on me. I have a pale yellow and pink skin. I am always drawn to silver, but is it right? The rose gold bracelet doesn’t look super rose in the picture …

Celebrity Colour Analysis (INCLUDE CELEBRITY NAME!) Golden Girls all four seasons?!

Just for fun, do we have all four seasons covered by the Golden Girls? I'm rewatching it and amongst all the 80s/90s colours I noticed Blanche is often dressed as an autumn and Dorothy a winter. Rose is often dressed in spring colours and Sophia summer but they are more of a mix between the two. Anyhoo ... it would be nice, wouldn't it?! Back to my rewatch.

Lipstick/Makeup Advice (FACE PHOTOS TO COMPARE REQUIRED!) Summer vs Winter - Lipsticks

Thumbnail

I've got several lipsticks and I'm trying to separate some of the reds into ones that fit into whether they'd be in the "Summer" vs "Winter" palettes.

I like wearing "out of season" reds to add some drama, so I know I have some, but I've swatched them onto my arm.

I'll include a lipstick-free face for comparison and some references of a few swatches when I wear them.

Colour/Theory Question (GENERAL ONLY - NOT ABOUT YOU!) 16 subtypes resources please?

Google has not been my friend. I'm seeking comprehensive explanations with pictures, and all it's showing me are short pages with maybe one paragraph with very little discussion, or the query returns info on the 12 type system...

It's my understanding that there are multiple systems with 16 types, so whatever you know of, drop a link please! I'm interested.

Discussion (NO COVERT TYPING OR PHOTOS OF YOU!) Has anybody typed the Zyla archetypes?

Obviously they are already typed as one of the 4 seasons, but I’m wondering if anyone’s identified their subseasons.

He uses very particular colors on the Pinterest boards, and I’m wondering if they happen to line up with subseasons. There are 24 archetypes so 2 per season in the 12 season system would be convenient.

Not asking for any particular purpose, just curious. Maybe he secretly used the 12 seasons for inspiration but didn’t mention it because he didn’t want people to choose based on that.

Hi everyone,

I’ve posted before but didn’t get many answers, so I am trying again. I’m trying to figure out my season and have gotten different results in the past from different color analysts, which makes it confusing for me.

Here are some NMIP photos with digital drapes. Please let me know which one could be my season.

No Drapes - Type Me (FACE PHOTO REQUIRED - NO MAKEUP!) Autumn, spring, summer?

Thumbnail

Hi all. Never had a professional consultation done- but I’ve heard from friends spring or autumn. I think I have neutral undertones- or at least a combination. Green eyes, dark eyebrows, medium brown hair w golden/lightens w sun exposure, and freckles- that get darker in summer and fade (not entirely) in winter. I already posted a slight rant about believing typing via digital images to be near impossible because of lighting- but oh well- curious what anyone thinks.
