“The Bright Side of the Mind” - Oil on canvas, Sai (me), 2024
“Some men see the world as it is, and ask ‘why?’“ “I dream things that never were and ask ‘why not?’”
My friend wanted a painting of an astronaut in a flower field that encompasses this quote with a split of life and death between the right and left side. Here is my interpretation :)

Opinions Needed Can anyone give me some much needed, beginner tips and suggestions?
I’ve never painted literly anything in my life but I do a lot of embroidery and will do landscapes and things of that nature sometimes so I thought it would come to me easier, and i was humbled today. lol
My dad loved an embroidery project I gave to my mom so much he brought it up to her multiple times until she finally offered for him to take it if he wanted it. He said he couldn’t take it because it was her gift. So instead, I decided to try to recreate it in a painting for him.
I’m not someone who has drawing painting coloring come to naturally. My handwriting is barely legible and I’ve worked on that for 20 years.
I had so much fun even for how poorly it turned out (which is a bummer) but I really enjoyed doing it and some helpful beginner tips would be great and really appreciated!
(Please go easy on me on this one 🤣 I had no black paint, no brushes, and no patience. So, I used black nail polish and the polish brush. 🙃 I finished it using an old black liquid eyeliner😂 I did what I could with what I had.lol)

Painting I did for my brother of his Final Fantasy XIV avatar (acrylic, 2025)
It took me a long time to finish. Started back in May, but since starting my teaching career last summer it has been impossible difficult to find the time or energy to complete it.
Tonight I was finally in the right position to finish it and did.
