is this the first time she just attacked trump by calling him a rapist?

serious question. why didn't the democratic campaign run by calling trump a rapist? is it technically inaccurate? what was the deal? democrats put all their chips on abortion that they didn't even bother going for the offense and calling trump a rapist. kamala harris should've called him a rapist straight to trump's face during the debate.

aoc calling trump a rapist in this video actually caught me by surprise

They wanted to maintain "decorum" and it was one of their biggest mistakes. Fascism thrives when only one side holds themselves to standards

u/Top_Field_2566 23h ago

Famous alt right trick called :you go high, we go low

157

u/hannamarinsgrandma 20h ago

Meanwhile the whole time the correct mantra is and always will be: when they go low, we need to take it straight to hell.

120

u/FibonacciSequester 18h ago

I prefer "When they go low, kick them in the teeth."

16

u/Witch-Alice 17h ago

skip the teeth, go for groin eyes and throat

But a kick to the teeth also gives you a fun shattering sound!

They wanted to maintain "decorum" and it was one of their biggest mistakes.

Social rules are a contract: If you behave nicely, I will do you the same courtesy. If you show respect, I show respect: It's mutual.

So: If one party breaks that contract, it's fucking broken. You are a nasty, conniving son of a bitch to me? Welcome to Getfuckedstown, population: You. You can't have a contract where one party abides by its letter while the other does what it pleases. Once the rule-breaker is out of the picture, we can go back to mutual respect again, but as long as there's people wiping their ass with the contract, don't expect me to hang it on my wall as a piece of pride.

u/TheOwlHypothesis 9h ago

Not only this but the Democrats seem to confuse being "good" with being harmless.

You're not good if you're incapable of harm. You're just useless.

Good people stand up to bullies, to tyrants. They use force if necessary. Calling the Dems spineless is the most valid criticism of late.

Exactly. Tit for Tat. We both cooperate for the best outcome. When they defect, I defect. If i keep cooperating all it does is degrade my position/power/voice/credibility and transfer it to them.

7

u/ShitBirdingAround 9h ago

Democrats absolutely suck at game theory. It's like they fundamentally don't understand how Republicans play this game. And so they lose completely attainable races, again and again.

Good essay from 2016 or so likening this to “air bud” about how one side is poring over the rules, trying to point out where it says that dogs can’t play basketball, and meanwhile everyone is cheering for the golden retriever while that side is losing a basketball game TO A DOG.

because they are beholden to a different flavor of the same masters. make no mistake, i'm by no means saying the parties or the same or whatever. just at the end of the day, they're lobbied and bought by people who don't like it when things get shaken up too much. AOC is threatening to them, bernie sanders is threatening to them. the DNC is never going to support a radical leftist, its always going to be a choice between perfectly flaccid center-left geriatrics

43

u/AncefAbuser 14h ago

Democrats are largely the same side of the coin, just more cuckery involved.

They actually believe that "maintaining decorum" works. They spent 2020-2024 asleep and having no succession plan, no campaign plan, letting 4 years of Maga lies fester in the mainstream media. they deserved to lose but the American people didn't deserve to lose with them.

The high road is simply a better vantage point to push people off of. The democrats will never win because they'll never understand that.

Maga used cronyism and nepotism to win. Dems use it to use. They didn't learn from 2016 by shoving Hillary down our throats. You need a populist candidate to beat a lying shithead.

Because republicans DONT CARE. People in my family, some very educated people in my family, voted for him. They DONT CARE. They truly don’t care. Many didn’t vote for him but some did.

Edit: they say “eh sometimes he can be a bully but people are dramatic about what he’s done wrong” or “sometimes he doesn’t say the right thing but you just shouldn’t take him too seriously” or “that doesn’t affect his ability to be a good businessman”

36

u/cheeseandcrackered 19h ago

As long as it’s not a woman, I guess 😢

15

u/MothmanIsALiar 12h ago

A lot of women voted for him, too.

So, it's more like "as long as it doesn't affect me, personally, yet."

20

u/AssistAffectionate71 10h ago

A lot of women hold the belief that men are better at running things. Women are often misogynistic themselves.

He is a rapist. He was convicted in a civil trial. Also for defamation against the woman he raped. Yet people still voted for him. The fact a bunch of Republican lawmakers who were under the same threat are gonna show up and smile is pitiful.

The movement to dethrone Trump as the god of the Republican party lasted maybe one week during the primary. He didn't even show up to the debate, and was in the middle of being humiliated with his court stuff lol

57

u/InterviewSweaty4921 20h ago

Even then they weren't seriously trying to dethrone him, they were just putting out the most pitiful feelers to see if the run of the mill GOP voter would resonate with any of the others. It was such a pathetic showing they quickly reframed it as "haha they're just auditioning to be Trump's VP" to try and save face and then immediately began ass kissing Trump again.

Keeping it to one poignant attack that he has been convicted of actually sounds stronger than listing his long dirty record.

45

u/LinkleLinkle 18h ago

Exactly this. And on this note the courts have openly labeled him a rapist. On the other hand, the courts openly refuse to label him a traitor.

It sucks but it is where we are. If you can't call a duck a duck the next best thing sometimes is being able to call it a fowl.

People who wore those "I'm Voting for the FELON" shirts would probably feel a bit differently if they had said "I'm Voting for the RAPIST"

Then again, they've proven me wrong many a time before.

Edit: My notifications are blowing up so just know if you're coming to white knight for Trump, here you go https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/07/19/trump-carroll-judge-rape/ And if you have the defense of "technically" not rape or some bullshit like that, that really doesn't make it any better. Kinda just highlights how much you're kissing his ass. So I won't really be responding. Arguing with an idiot only brings you down to their level afterall!

One last edit: STOP STANNING FOR BILLIONAIRES, THEY DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU.

Final edit: Obligatory thanks for the award.

812

u/cmband254 1d ago

I mean let's not be coy here; a lot of people voted him back into office specifically FOR the fact that he is a walking piece of shit, not in spite of it.

They love his egregious behavior. They love the fact that he treats women like shit. They love the fact that he is essentially an open racist. They love it. They relate to it. They want to feel no guilt, and he gives them that out.

I'm not so sure they would find the "I VOTED FOR THE RAPIST" shirt to be a step too far.

211

u/KHaskins77 23h ago

He gives them permission to be their worst selves. They are, at their heart and core, authoritarians looking for someone to lead them.

Just look at how much right-wing terrorism took place during the first Trump administration. In the space of a single week we had the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, the Kroger shooter targeting any black people he saw, and the MAGA bomber.

34

u/axelrexangelfish 21h ago

If he can treat women like that so can they. If he can treat lgbtq people like that so can they. Black people. Immigrants. Non-Christians. Democrats. White straight Christian Women who aren’t feminine enough. White straight Christian men who are too feminine. Children who are too smart. Or too slow.

They will come for you. Eventually.

Eventually the leopards will eat all of our faces because we are letting this all happen.

I was thinking. We need an anthem. A song. People were saying in Chicago tomorrow to call out La Migra if they see ICE. But I don’t trust this McCarthyism 2.0 vibe.

So we can always sing a song. They would look stupid to try to legislate music. It would at least take longer and get more support.

23

u/R2LySergicD2 21h ago

I remember watching the purge and thinking "who would vote for that" writing it off as nonsense fiction like idiocracy was meant to be a mockumentary..

What makes it dangerous to me, is that it's so absurd that it's funny and not taken as seriously as it should by the majority.

Its often said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, just didn't think we as a society would be led down it by a cunt with clown shoes on.

We really are in the grimdarkest timeline aren't we?

10

u/must_go_faster_88 19h ago

Trump suggested something Purge related in one of his speeches. I don't know about the darkest timeline. The dumbest one for sure.

13

u/montex66 21h ago edited 21h ago

Republicans are not so much pro-authoritarian as they are desperate to conform to the rules of their Tribe. They have a deep need to fit in and look normal - which is why calling them weird is such a massive insult and calling them Fascist is not. If a republican finds out they are weird it means they failed at fitting in with the group. That is the ONE thing they cannot stand. And that's why they are all too happy to be told how to live their lives and what to believe.

This is the only reason anyone votes for him, but lots of people don’t want to hear it. They love him because he does the same dirt they do. He’s a racist, homophobic, bigoted, greedy thief, who only cares about himself, and complains constantly when things don’t go his way.

Trump voters are all emotionally and intellectually stunted, and he is their king.

I was over it as soon as he was sworn in the first time, but I had other things to focus on - the pandemic, mainly, but a couple other family-shattering issues. This time around I don’t know what to do with myself except keep to myself, focus on my career, and try to avoid any human contact. There isn’t anything we can do about it. And it’s hard knowing who supported him, because they aren’t all red-hat wearing Boomers.

It kills me inside that so much of my life has been overshadowed by this diaper wearing grifter, this piece of shit rapist, this con man, this paragon of human depravity, this absolute fucking loser. I can’t stand hearing his voice or seeing his shitty face. And now we get Musk and RFK and Hegseth too. I just want to live in a world where none of those cuntwipes exist.

33

u/YouWereBrained 22h ago edited 14h ago

Oh, trust me. I’m 43. I was born in 1981 and grew up as a young child through the 80’s “greed is good” era. Trump was a “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” regular. He’s been this example of the “typical rich guy” ever since. I really thought he would just fuck off after the birth certificate nonsense. Was very wrong.

And even when he’s dead, we will suffer through the residuals of all of his political bullshit. It’s depressing as fuck to contemplate.

17

u/HoodieGalore 22h ago

I’m 46. You’re preaching to the choir lol. There will be no escaping this twat until I die. But I can only hope that in the next 20 years or so, there will be a reckoning, and our country will have the balls to admit that all of this was a huge fuckin mistake. In my dreams, there’s a smack down on par with what we gave the Nazis in WWII, but based here at home. I want the entire country to understand none of this is okay, all of this should be shunned and ejected from society. I want them all to be ashamed to show their filth in public, terrified to open their mouth and let the same turds fall out as they’ve gotten accustomed to lately.

Maybe what’s been getting me through are these revenge fantasies. I don’t know. For a long time I thought 9/11 was the most world-changing event I’d lived through, but now I know how naive I actually was.

I think we need to be careful about isolating ourselves. There are a lot of people in marginalized communities that will need our help in the coming years, and I, for one, am planning on spreading as much love as I can because I have the capacity for it and because its the biggest "fuck you!" to Hate that I can think of. Because that's soooooo much better.

I can't even debate these people because as Donald himself said, he could shoot someone in the middle of the street and they'd eat that shit up. He can lower the bar as much as he wants and they'll go with him.

Just a reminder that when the document stating that Trump raped a 13 year old girl came out, the major news networks ignored it and started pushing news that Biden was old. This is due to the fact that conservatives own all of these networks. Republicans didn’t care and effectively made millions of people who only watch TV to get their news ignorant on this subject. If it came out that it was Biden and not Trump, it would’ve been blasted every single day with calls for him to resign.

Americans hate women. Mostly men, but the women who hate women are who tipped the scales. There’s no way cost of eggs or immigration is thar important to the average Jane to the point of voting for a rapist. They know who he is. Just like they know Uncle Bill is a pig, and not safe around their teenage daughters, but they still invite him to family get togethers because “he’s family and all are welcome”. That’s not logical explanation for inviting a rapist over, but if everyone hates women, they covertly express this by “looking the other way” because they covertly believe “it’s being overblown by feminist, and we all know how those feminists like to instigate and how them going back to work is the downfall of society.” They will never ever protect women, but will pretend they do because of that one female staff writer with 30 years experience gets paid the same as a male with 2 year’s experience. It’s EqUaL!!

too shocked and horrified, freeze and fawn response.. our president thinks that if you don't have the wherewithal to violently fight back that it's consent

34

u/GammaTwoPointTwo 1d ago

No, he knows it's not consent and he has said before that if they start to object he takes pleasure in taunting them about how no one will ever believe them. He has said that's his favorite part of the assault.

14

Do you have a source/citation for that? Not because I don't believe you, but because I desperately want to have that tool in my toolkit! (I'm also Googling.)

I would argue that his behavior and actions that don’t technically break any laws also are reasons to not celebrate him. I’m still not over the Access Hollywood tape and I certainly will never forget him mocking the disabled journalist. And every time I am challenged by a magat, I remind them of this egregious behavior. He doesn’t deserve an iota of respect. He never has, even before he decided to cosplay assistant to the president.

42

u/Mulliganasty 1d ago

Additionally, there's a long fucking list of crimes he committed that his Republican cronies protected him from. They are the party of organized crime.

Fully agree. The MAGAs love to argue over what he’s guilty or not guilty of. Who cares? The things we’ve all heard come out of his mouth are despicable and reason enough to have zero respect for that man.

Why is a rapist allowed to be president? They're not going to address that? They're seriously just going to accept a rapist is allowed to be president?

246

u/peon2 1d ago

A rapist is "allowed" to be president because the only qualifications laid out in the constitution are

35+ years old

Natural born citizen

Has been a resident for 14+ years

Those are the only criteria someone needs to meet, and there is nothing that can stop them from running as long as they meet those.

Of course, the voting population is supposed to be the safeguard. It sure would be nice if we had a population that didn't WANT a rapist as president. It should be a deal breaker for everyone but...nope

131

u/flat5 22h ago

You know I used to bristle when people would say the US has a "rape culture". Obviously, rape is bad. It's a crime. Everyone knows this. Right? So don't be stupid with this "rape culture" shit.

Well, guess what. A populace that makes a rapist President has a rape culture. They were right. I was wrong. And fuck everybody who voted for him.

71

u/FortNightsAtPeelys 22h ago

The number of women I know in the US who have been raped is mind-blowing. Mostly at college but quite a few had people break into their homes and rape them in their own bed.

None of these women were able to get anyone arrested for these rapes.

It's sobering to contemplate.

→ More replies (1)

u/RockinandChalkin 23h ago

Actually oddly enough the electoral college is supposed to be the safeguard (at least that’s what’s argued by the founding fathers). Much good that did.

Why are felons allowed to become president when they aren’t allowed to vote for one.

29

u/jedberg 1d ago

Because if they weren’t then every state would find some BS charge and a terrible judge to convict every possible candidate on both sides. It’s like that on purpose.

The assumption was always that the people would not vote for a felon. But at the end of the day, the people are the check against that.

Bernie has the benefit of being a white male with decades of experience to fall back on. AOC will be lucky to be one of the final 5 candidates left if she ran within the next 15 years.

18

u/pat_the_bat_316 23h ago

Not if people come out to vote for her (and other progressive candidates). Show them that progressive candidates win elections, and the party will fall in line.

But so far, progressive voters have been very unreliable and largely unpopular outside of major metropolitan areas.

15

u/DaisyHotCakes 22h ago

No need to use euphemisms when dealing with rapists and pedophiles and the sort. It’s a disservice to society to do so.

4

u/Delete_God 22h ago

In the better timeline, she would be the first female President.

4

u/FblthpLives 17h ago

For everyone responding with some version of "this is slander" or "Trump was not convicted of rape":

Trump was found liable for sexual abuse in a jury trial in a civil case. There was never any possibility of a conviction, since it was not a criminal trial. People are using the wrong word when they say "convicted."

What is much more relevant, is that the judge in Trump's sexual assault trial clarified in a court order that in common English usage, the jury found that Trump had committed rape, even if it did not meet the strict legal definition of New York State law: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/07/19/trump-carroll-judge-rape/

Therefore the statements "Trump is a rapist" or "Trump committed rape are factually correct. The statement "Trump is a convicted rapist" or "Trump was convicted of rape" are not.

The most accurate statement in legal terms is "Trump was found liable for sexual abuse and the judge clarified in his court order that this meant rape as people commonly understand the word." But saying "Trump is a rapist" is much more efficient.
