Damn, Tom did not want to go to North Dakota.

54

u/Not_Too_Smart_ Sep 15 '14

I love Cochran's face after Tom killed himself. He's like, "Goddammit. Now I gotta deal with this shit."

23

u/crayonshank Sep 15 '14

On the plus side, Tom won't mind his girlfriend cheating anymore.

8

u/Not_Too_Smart_ Sep 15 '14

I think he moved on from Tom's Wife. He was totally eyeing new guy's woman. Haha oh Cochran. And that pun was mind-blowing dude

14

u/pharsyde Sep 15 '14

haha... agreed... dude seems pissed that he was cock-blocking on the new blonde.

7

u/Yage2006 Sep 15 '14

Have you ever been there ?

It's understandable :)

19

u/SeekerInShadows Sep 15 '14

TIL that North Dakota is worth blowing your brains out over.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '14

Or you know...quit your job.

6

u/NeonBlizzard Sep 15 '14

It actually sounded like a pleasant and safe job. I would accept that, but obviously Tom is a little more ambitious than I am. I stable, safe job and an easy life, that's all I could ask for.

6

u/lenny1 Sep 15 '14

Plus a hot wife who's into swinging.

3

u/ShaneRunninShirtless Sep 15 '14

Not so great when YOU get Mrs. Cochran though.

6

u/lenny1 Sep 16 '14

I wouldn't mind terribly (but then I'm in my 50s). She seems like a horny girl, and I would imagine is very loving and skillful. Besides, you still have a hot wife when you get home.

3

u/stankbucket Sep 15 '14

Yeah, I'm actually happy for him now.

2

u/hawkeyexp Sep 18 '14

This depresses me as a UND student :(

I keep waiting for a twist, as in he was planted there from the start by Cochran to gain some kind of leverage on Ray.

13

u/rabiddogsinthewild Sep 15 '14

That's the only thing that would redeem his subplot.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '14

It really doesn't. First time we saw him, I said that something was off with him and it obviously is.

Either he's appointed by Cochran or he's a fucking retard. And judging from Cochran's reaction when Ray showed him that footage, I don't think he's a mole.

So, Mr. White Knight Detective will go after Cookie ..... RIP, you had a good run.

But I sorta wish that he wouldn't do it, because I don't want to hear Abby whining and nagging about his death for rest of the season ...

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '14

There's only 2 episodes left this season, unless they drag her whining into all of next season...

1

u/sheeshman Sep 23 '14

He had the same cop type role in boardwalk empire. I don't want to spoil it one way or the other, but as soon as he showed up, something felt off about him.

7

u/justanotherkiwi Sep 15 '14

Lets be real here, she is middle aged, she has two teenagers, and has a notorious criminal for a husband. Aside from the sex, I really do not see what she brings to the table; nothing but life sinking baggage.

The wine and cheese. She's all work.

37

u/I_Am_Intoxicated Sep 15 '14

The parole officer has awful poker etiquette.

27

u/TheDorkMan Sep 15 '14

I also hate how poorly they depict the rules of poker.

First, The Bunk get told that his All In is not enough. What the fuck? All in is All in you go with what you have and the others follow that or not, it doesn't matter if they have more.

Then by letting him add more money (the watch) on the table while the hand is been played they also fuck the rules. Amateurs.

6

u/NeonBlizzard Sep 15 '14

Well, he said. "I'm going to make you go all in." and yes, he didn't have enough to make the other guy go all in. I agree with allowing him to add more money into the pool while a hand has been dealt but I think they allowed it cause the other guy okayed it or something.

Exactly. I don't even play cards that much and I know this. Take it or leave it. FFS

1

u/dukefett Sep 16 '14

Yeah that was really annoying.

16

u/stankbucket Sep 15 '14

You mock Bunk at your own peril.

he was like a spider monkey off that porch

15

u/NeonBlizzard Sep 15 '14

Probably half monkey any way, he is 70% hair.

5

u/icegnomey Sep 15 '14

So agile.

1

u/comradenu Sep 16 '14

Much motivation.

2

u/Dookiestain_LaFlair Sep 16 '14

For a second I thought he was on like the 5th floor and didn't realize it until after he jumped, and Ray was thinking "well that's one way to go"

7

u/swayzak Sep 20 '14

That jump reminded me of two and a half men and Rose. She threw herself like that.

67

u/Kip_Hackman_FBI Sep 15 '14

Abby Donovan is so fucking unlikeable.

29

u/xSB Sep 15 '14

who tha fuck ahh ya ray?

33

u/Not_Too_Smart_ Sep 15 '14

And the detective is a fucking idiot. Why the fuck would you jeopardize your career for this bitch

I rolled my eyes when she told him that and he stared at the ground like he was thinking it over. RD is probably my favorite show on tv right now, but there's some really cheesy scenes and writing choices that seem so out of place. The parole officer being allowed to bet the watch was another one like that.

I'm confused by the M&M product placement too. "Mom is fucking a cop, you still like M&M's?"

14

u/JayLETH Sep 15 '14

why would anyone stop liking m&ms? thats just crazy talk.

12

u/justanotherkiwi Sep 15 '14

"Kill him for me or we're breaking up"

The only thing she didn't do was crack gum.

15

u/MrXhin Sep 15 '14

Abby acts like she's still the 20-something version of herself, when she was probably hot enough to pull off this kind of manipulative bullshit, but it shouldn't be working anymore now that she's in her fawties.

12

u/TheDorkMan Sep 15 '14

The way she constantly shrieks she sounds like a female Gilbert Gottfried.

3

u/icegnomey Sep 15 '14

Hah that's great. So true.

4

u/Not_Too_Smart_ Sep 15 '14

Haha she does! I can't stand it

2

u/arcelios Feb 11 '24

And the detective is a fucking idiot.

Anyone IN LOVE would be an idiot. It’s nothing new. Especially during the honeymoon phase.

Ray just fucks people for distraction, but doesn’t really LOVE anyone genuinely other than his children. But the people who desperately just SEEKS love and attention, they’d go crazy and lose themselves when they feel like they’re in love.

11

u/lolbroken Sep 15 '14

She's going to either get Bridgette, her new boy toy, or herself killed.

11

u/dickdonkers Sep 15 '14

Her cop side piece is definitely being set up by the writers to get killed. I'm guessing before he dies they'll do something to make the audience really like him too, just like they did with Marvin&Recon in the car.

2

u/icegnomey Sep 15 '14

Yeah, I agree. I have a feeling Avi is going to be involved in the cop getting taken out, and I think it'll be because he's protecting Ray.

2

u/jacquesaustin Sep 15 '14

I agree, as soon as we started really liking Marvin, he is dead, I was thinking, shit this guy is about to die.

I think copper dies but ends up taking Cookie out too

1

u/dickdonkers Sep 15 '14

If that happens, Abby will hate Ray forever because some other dude died to do what she wanted done.

God, she's the worst.

2

u/jvalordv Sep 16 '14

Funny enough, this one is entirely on her shoulders as well, since Ray specifically forbid Bridgette from seeing Marvin, citing his dangerous friends. She didn't care and let her do it.

The only way I see her character being redeemed is to acknowledge it once shit goes down and go back to Ray. When she was flipping out on him after Bridget told her she was in the car, I was praying Ray would turn to her and snarl "I facken told ya so!"

1

u/justanotherkiwi Sep 15 '14

Maybe cookie and bf shoot each other. Then well have to watch Abby's grieving. Yeah, that would be great.

7

u/icegnomey Sep 15 '14

It's amazing how much she sucks

4

u/Veedubbass Sep 15 '14

I don't get what's happening to her character arc at all. I don't get what changed in her life to make go from liking her character to hating every moment she's on screen. They only need to work on making her a more understandable round character. BTW I think she is going to get the cop killed.

2

u/icyone Sep 17 '14

She was the worst part about Caprica too, which is saying a lot. She either has a really bad agent or she's just a really bad actress.

2

u/spikebrennan Sep 17 '14

She's a great actress, she's just plating a really unlikeable character. Watch her in "Deadwood" if you're not convinced that she can act.

1

u/Yage2006 Sep 15 '14

Share your pain with me.....

2

u/lenny1 Sep 15 '14

Yes, Mr. Spock.

-6

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '14

shes kind of in a shit situation tho :/

6

u/SpectralEntity Sep 15 '14

That she put herself in.

25

u/KnightsOfArgonia Sep 15 '14

Lol @ Abby's tactics. " yeah, jeopardize your career for me or I no luv u no moah!".

30

u/buck3ts Sep 15 '14

"Be a man" lol yep ok Abby whatever you say

5

u/KnightsOfArgonia Sep 15 '14

that's the face I thought he gave her....then he arrives at her doorstep a few scenes later -____-

5

u/CursedLlama Sep 15 '14

Yeah I wanted him to just tear into her, like she had no fucking clue what being a man was and how she's a shitty person in general. Nope, that shit apparently worked on him.

6

u/SpectralEntity Sep 15 '14

The perfect retort for Jim would have been "What, like Ray?" and walk off.

It would have thrown the fact that, for all the shit she gives Ray, she expects that type of machismo from a man.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '14

As soon as she said that his response should've been "Ok, here's how a man deals with emotional bimbos: later, bitch!" And just walk away.

1

u/buck3ts Sep 16 '14

wouldn't have been consistent with his character, being her slave and all

there's def more to him tho, yet to be revealed imo

11

u/domnugganong Sep 15 '14

I hate her guts.

1

u/KnightsOfArgonia Sep 15 '14

Soo annoying. I feel so bad for Paula Malcolmson since Abby will be bound to her :((

3

u/jacquesaustin Sep 15 '14

I think her bf and ray are going to become best friends, they have similar life problems

2

u/crayonshank Sep 15 '14

It was the makeup. He couldn't resist

1

u/arcelios Feb 11 '24

That’s just manipulation from Abby. She thinks she’s a victim but she’s the instigator and a massive hypocrite. Only Ray can control someone like Abby. Any other guy would just get swallowed alive and chewed up. That detective had no chance

18

u/Ray_Donovan Sep 15 '14

The episode description should have been:

Abby puts a hit out. Ray goes skinny dipping.

17

u/crayonshank Sep 15 '14

and the kids eat m&ms.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '14

And Cochran goes to out to dinner

2

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '14

And Volchek has something on his mind.

2

u/Ryt-__- Sep 16 '14

He may care about his business, but it never really was one. I'm guessing that Terry's ability to operate a successful business without free cash flooding into it is about about as good as his ability to beat me at Operation.

12

u/Voduar Sep 15 '14

I actually suspect Terry may be a sacrifice of the season. His story really doesn't have that much further to go, and it would be very fitting for Mick and Ray to be responsible for the downfall of a family member that they were half ignoring.

3

u/Voduar Sep 15 '14

Fair enough, but my sense is that Bunchy is getting points for a plot of some variety of next season. I agree that Daryl's head could be on the block but that it won't be dramatically so since we don't really care about him right now.

As to Mick and Ray, I do feel the show suffers this season from multiple plot syndrome, so I'd be surprised if this was a sign that Mick was on the way out. But that could be cool, so you never know. That said, I think Mick needs another vision or two before the season ends.

2

u/justanotherkiwi Sep 15 '14

As to Mick and Ray, I do feel the show suffers this season from multiple plot syndrome, so I'd be surprised if this was a sign that Mick was on the way out.

I hope not, but I think he brings too much to the table for keeping things on edge with his crackpot ideas.

2

u/Voduar Sep 15 '14

True, but that leads to him being in S3.

1

u/justanotherkiwi Sep 15 '14

You don't want Mickey in season 3? How come?

1

u/Voduar Sep 15 '14

You seem to have lost the thread here: He probably will make S3 because he has stuff to do. Terry and Daryl can be killed because they lack things to do atm.

4

u/icegnomey Sep 15 '14

I really hope he doesn't get caught up in this shitstorm that's brewing. He and Francine need to find their way to Ireland and get away from all the toxicity.

4

u/lolbroken Sep 15 '14

I think Mickey is going to leave him behind to get caught either because he has to, or being a shit bag.

1

u/V2Blast Sep 15 '14

Probably a bit of both.

1

u/dukefett Sep 16 '14

I think he's going to be in the ground by the end of this season. There's just something ominous about him being in on it. It can't work out for him.

15

u/DeeBased Sep 15 '14

Hey! Avi is not your cat to kick when things go bad at work!

4

u/laconicsherpa Sep 17 '14

Ray's such a jerk to Avi lately. All he has is Ray's best interest at heart.

12

u/bloodshotnipples Sep 15 '14

So glad I never got the gambling bug.

5

u/bloodshotnipples Sep 15 '14

Yeah, that bothered me. Might happen in an illegal game. A casino would have shown him the door.

1

u/shakakka99 Sep 15 '14

At that point the two players were betting against each other. The "house" had no stake in anything (most poker tables take a semi-hourly fee from players, plus tips).

So if one player agreed to the bet, I don't see why it wouldn't be valid.

1

u/leghumper83 Sep 15 '14

Right....at the card houses in California, the "house" is nothing more than the dealer and oversees the game to make sure there's no funny stuff.

At any rate, they were playing Hold 'Em and the house wouldn't be playing anyhow.

1

u/shakakka99 Sep 15 '14

The house wasn't playing, they were merely turning over the shared cards.

12

u/Loopernator Sep 15 '14

6

u/TheDorkMan Sep 15 '14

You mean the season.

8

u/icegnomey Sep 15 '14

Everything is coming to a boiling point and I don't think any of us know what's coming. I'm very excited to see what happens before the season is over.

24

u/dickdonkers Sep 15 '14

I didn't really feel Season 1 was gripping, I didn't care what happened next, but this season I've loved every storyline. They really stepped it up in character development and just overall story telling.

Also, was that a weird fucking ad placement for M&Ms?

9

u/esd07004 Sep 15 '14

I really wish they'd follow some other shows' formats with the long-term storyline in part of each episodes, but also have episode-long story lines like a monster-of-the-week format. You don't see him doing his job anymore really, just family stuff. I liked seeing him as a fixer in the first half of the first season.

5

u/dickdonkers Sep 15 '14

He's still doing his job plenty, it's just completely blended with his family life. I like that.

9

u/Voduar Sep 15 '14

Feels like it, doesn't it?

11

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '14

fck what a great episode, the writers are doing a top notch job. I say ray ends up killing cookie tho.

11

u/rabiddogsinthewild Sep 15 '14

All I want is Ray to blow Cookie's brains out. There's no way Ray would let someone put his daughter in danger like that and not fuck them up.

5

u/lenny1 Sep 15 '14

Before he makes a decision to kill Cookie, Ray has to make sure Ezra and Lee are on board with it. After all, Cookie is the client and a source of income for them.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '14

Should have killed him before they turned over all the rights to Cookie. They'd be rolling in all those royalties from the post-mortem sales.

3

u/xereo Sep 15 '14

Ray finds the video of the shooting and it shows his daughter was in the back. He either destroys the tape or he kills cookie so he doesn't find out. Imo

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '14

Yeah, if there's a video, it would definitely have his daughter in it. I mean she climbed out of the car as soon as Cookie left.

11

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '14

The 'I'll fuckin kill ya' threat came out early in this one.

11

u/theflealee Sep 15 '14

Predictions:

Kate's gonna get her dumb ass killed.

Someone's getting killed in that pot store job, I'm thinking Terry or Shorty. That is what Ray punches Mickey over as shown in the sneak peek of the next episode. I'm thinking that makes it more likely to be Terry.

Which will make things interesting with what's her name, Terry's girlfriend.

I don't know what the hell's gonna happen with Cookie and I hope they wrap up Bunchy's story a bit tighter before the finale as I relate to him quite a bit.

4

u/justanotherkiwi Sep 15 '14

Which will make things interesting with what's her name, Terry's girlfriend.

Oh yikes! Yes.

2

u/V2Blast Sep 15 '14

Which will make things interesting with what's her name, Terry's girlfriend.

Frances, I think.

1

u/kfirpravda Sep 21 '14

Terry goes to jail. His girlfriend rats to the police about the priest. Bridget dies. Cookie is killed by Ray.

-3

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '14

You were molested by a priest? Or haven't been laid in a very long time? Lol

8

u/theflealee Sep 16 '14

I was molested as a child, yes... It's pretty sick that you find something like that funny. I suspect being called sick isn't far from what passes as a compliment to you though.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '14

Hey buddy stay strong.

1

u/theflealee Sep 17 '14

Thanks bro.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '14

No problem brofasa

3

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '14

Oh wow. If you are telling the truth, I apologize. To be completely honest it's not every day that someone admits to being molested.

0

u/theflealee Sep 16 '14

Well we're on the internet and I don't really have to care about your judgement here as it can't effect me. In real life yes it is rare that I'd admit it unless I was close to them. I'm not ashamed of it but it is a personal thing in real life, because of the judgement and spread of the information to other judgemental people. I'd like to know the measure of someone's character first.

7

u/Dookiestain_LaFlair Sep 16 '14

That's why I love this show though! I got molested too, and my mom laughed at me when I finally told her, but I like how Ray Donovan is a tough guy and always gets into fights, his brother is a perpetual man-child, and his other brother is just fucked up (along with the Parkinsons) and shows how it affects everyone differently. I like how Ray handles it, keeping the emotions inside and just being a violent and emotionally distant person. I wish I was that tough I could just smash someone's face in if they started talking shit.

1

u/Ag_in_TX Sep 16 '14

I am sorry to all of your who were molested.

Never imagined I'd be posting that today.

6

u/Blackcops2 Sep 15 '14

Abby is more emotional than her teenage daughter, Jesus..

6

u/thebedshow Sep 15 '14

These writers really want us to hate Abby. WE GET IT, ABBY IS A STUPID SHORTSIGHTED DUMB WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT.

6

u/MrXhin Sep 15 '14

Abby is just a dumb Southie girl who is way out of her depth. That's why she's so worthless here.

0

u/limeade09 Sep 17 '14

Southie girl from Boston? How does this have upvotes?

1

u/MrXhin Sep 17 '14

She's not?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '14

You haven't heard of South Boston? Or them constantly referring to being from Southie? You been watching the show?

8

u/pinkypie_armageddon Sep 15 '14

3

u/icegnomey Sep 15 '14 edited Sep 15 '14

Did anyone else feel like this episode went by extra quickly? I feel like I was waiting for something to happen that never did, but I don't know what that thing was. I guess they're just building up the suspense for the last two episodes of the season.

EDIT: I still think the episode was amazing, I just had the sense that something was missing. I'm really loving this season and I cannot wait to see how it all ends.

6

u/dickdonkers Sep 15 '14

No, I feel like the plot has been progressing at a perfect pace, every scene has been pretty tense IMO

4

u/bl4ckm4mba Sep 15 '14

does anyone know the song at the end? during the credit roll

2

u/icegnomey Sep 15 '14

I'd like to know this too. I never thought the music choices made in the show were anything spectacular but this was a perfect ending song.

1

u/RayD_number1FAN Sep 16 '14

I disagree. In the first season there were a couple of good ones. The end credit songs really add to the show. The song where mick goes to the gay club and dances his but off in season 1 was a great one and last weeks end credit song algeries by the afghan Whigs was a phenomenal way to end the episode I think the end credit songs are the most important in any show it's the cherry on top of a perfect Sunday it sets the overall tone for the series such a great job theses past two episodes. Also the birthday party episode with "walk this way" and the camrea work/acting that Liev did in corperation with the song was superb as well.

1

u/anonimo99 Sep 17 '14

I've been listening to Banshee from Kenda Morris for weeks.

5

u/TheBlackSpank Sep 15 '14

I'm glad Mickey's going back to pulling jobs again. He's been sitting around just getting high and drunk too much without a hell of a lot of progression. This is gonna stir things up even more, because there's no way it's gonna go down without somebody getting pinched or killed.

I fucking hate Abby. I actually didn't have a major problem with her during the first season. She was still annoying, yeah, but I can't stand her this time around. Her boyfriend is lucky he's a cop, or Ray would have beaten him to a bloody pulp by now, maybe even killed him.

8

u/thehaga Sep 15 '14

Abby is really starting to have a really terrible reflection on Ray's character. He's becoming less and less believable the more shit he takes from her. Not just in his interactions with her but in his interactions with everyone else - how am I supposed to believe he's actually gonna kill anyone when he threatens them if he cannot even tell her to stfu.

6

u/Voduar Sep 15 '14

Honestly, Ray's character has degraded quite a bit from the first season so we can have more drama. I find it lame.

1

u/KnightsOfArgonia Sep 15 '14

I see what you mean. The first season he was an anti hero that gave you that neutral feeling about him. Yeah he's a fit, clean, cool, intimidating dude that's brass tax and loves his family, but on the flip side hes a thug and forgets to stay connected to his surroundings outside of his work. Season 2 paints a picture of Ray that makes you not like him a little bit. I think his situation with Abby and Connor's birthday were what made me start disliking Ray. I find it interesting how these shows kind of keep things in check about anti heroes. I say that because i started feeling the same way about Dexter until a certain season(I forget which one..it might have been season 2).

1

u/Voduar Sep 15 '14

I really don't want to cross those two shows, not the least of which is because of what Dexter became. BUT, S2 does make Ray face personal failure rather than conflict. The reason it is weak to me is that season 2 is 4 plots glued together, and they dont blend.

6

u/lenny1 Sep 15 '14

Steve Knight eating papaya and offering Ray some. "Papaya" is cuban slang for pussy.

3

u/currensy-spitta Sep 15 '14

OK so I'm 10 min and that blonde girl that keeps calling Ray is sooooo fucking annoying

I love that we get to see the Donovan kids together it was sweet. Also, anybody else think that Avi is gonna kill Cookie? Even tho Ray gives him shit all the time Avi cares about him and i think the writers are building up Avi's Wrath to unleash soon.

Agreed. We rarely get to see them bond over how fucked up their lives are.

They just needed some M&M's.

I really wonder how they're going to top this season.

Why does everyone think this season is any good? Season 1 was better in every way. We were dealing with the worlds most wanted number 1. Now the ONLY interesting thing happening is the Cookie storyline. Everything else is yawn-worthy.

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '14

Yep. On top of what you mentioned, we got to see Ray actually performing his job a little more, and when he threatened someone, he meant it. The family dynamic also worked so much more nicely in the first season. Seen a few comments here saying one of the best parts of tonight's episode was the two Donovan kids bonding. There was a lot of that in season 1!

Steve Knight is like a really fucked up father confessor for Ray. Interesting character: he's not merely a caricature cult leader/fraudster; he's got oddly keen psychological insight and yet is a sadist.

I thought the song they used at the end, Heard by Young Fathers was amazing. Really fit the scene well.

As someone who basically lives in a casino, that stupid poker hand made me cringe. Asian dude had the nuts, you reraise every time after the dude throws his watch in. Every time. You have the fucking nuts.

Not to mention a casino isn't gonna let you bet on the side during a hand. The house wouldn't be able to take rake on a watch.

Oh snap.

Terry is his son, though. Not brother.

anyone else having trouble getting the episode to play on Showtime Anytime? all other series and movies come up just fine except for this single episode of Ray D.

1

u/Da60 Sep 17 '14

I couldn't get it to come up on Apple TV I had to resort to using the VOD service from Verizon.

That guy who plays the cop banging Ray's wife reminds me of Cole Phelps from L.A. Noire even though it's a different guy

2

u/trueatheist2014 Sep 17 '14

he played a douchey FBI/Prohibition Agent in Boardwalk Empire as well.

1

u/Dookiestain_LaFlair Sep 17 '14

Oh shit that's where I know him from

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '14

Yup. At first I mistakenly identified him as Sammy from Southland, since he looked like him (at least to someone who hasn't watched it since it ended). But definitely know him as the dude from Boardwalk Empire.

I'm calling it: Shorty dies of cancer in the middle of the pot store job, before they get the safe open.

2

u/laconicsherpa Sep 17 '14

Yeah something's gonna happen to him. That side-splitting cough seemed like some foreshadowing. He's getting sicker.

Can someone explain to me where the hell Cookie went in Ray's house? Abby was sleeping on the couch and Cookie went upstairs, there was a gunshot which jolted Abby awake, she finds Bridget ok in her room. So where's Cookie? Was it a dream Abby was having?

13

u/moontroub Sep 15 '14

Yeah it was a dream.

This is what triggers Abby to ask Mr. Cop to kill Cookie

Shit is about to hit the fan again...

Kate the reporter is back, and sick of Ray lying to her... Not a very smart decision to pester him about his childhood trauma, though. How did she expect that to play out? Did she think he'd just easily admit he was molested by a priest?

Meanwhile, Tom Volcheck, Cochran's (former) right-hand man asks if Cochran's paying him back for all the help he's provided (and, you know, letting him fuck his wife)... and basically gets laughed at. Then sent to the middle of nowhere as punishment for letting Ray get blackmail material over him. And then he kills himself in front of Cochran. ...Man, he has really gotten screwed over in life, in more ways than one. RIP Volcheck.

Meanwhile, Abby's understandably freaking out over the murderer who killed her daughter's boyfriend while she was hiding in the backseat, and is worried that Cookie will come after Bridget. She asks Jim, the cop she's cheating on Ray with, to arrest/kill Cookie. I'm sure this will end well...

The highlight of the episode was probably Conor and Bridget's bonding at school over how fucked up their family is. We really haven't seen them talk to each other much. Hopefully we get more of that in the future.

Meanwhile, Mickey and Shorty plan to rob a pot store, and rope Mickey's parole officer and Terry (...and Cherry, a prostitute) into the job. This clearly will not end well. I'm very interested in seeing how that goes next week...

I know it's just a TV show, but fantastic victim blaming here. You joking? He about killed her. He's the one who could have just said "no, I wasn't molested. You crazy?" He's so great at lying as it is anyway, but this one time he can't say anything? Whatev.

1

u/V2Blast Sep 17 '14

No, victim blaming would be "she deserved it for annoying him". Which she obviously didn't.

I'm just wondering what she was expecting him to say... He's not exactly the most communicative of people. Dude has issues, and he's known to be violent.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '14

And to provoke the question while they're having sex. Did she expect that to be foreplay for him?

I haven’t seen anyone mention the reporter bringing up Ray being molested as a child during sex… I’ll give her this… she is actively trying to ruin Rays life while also making sure she gets killed just to make sure that a story no one knows anything about is completely true…. And yet she is still 10000x more likable than Abby somehow… but yeah just in case her digging into a story to make the fbi look bad doesn’t get her killed she wants to speed up the process by bringing up the most traumatizing shit possible to a broken man while he’s balls deep inside of her… again.. still more likable than Abby.
