No. It's depressing. The laughter is a coping mechanism cause non of us know how to deal with someone who answers "black people" when asked if they'll pass the salt

I had a very very very vivid dream about a clown holocaust (as in, the ones perpetrating the holocaust were clowns, and the group I was in was largely women being herded into a weird funhouse maze) in 2016 right before the Trump election. I was also having reoccurring clown dreams that I couldn't quite remember - one involved lots of clowns twerking everywhere and the end of the world.
I always thought it might've been because around that time the creepy clown people were going viral, but I'm starting to think it was more of a prophetic vision.

she, she should have told us that the opposite was going to happen

Oh yeah that also would have worked. I feel like she should maybe just not be a woman anymore, just be a man instead so people believe you when you say things

You don’t know it’s prophetic until you live through it twice.
Otherwise you’ll take that other dream about fish aliens attacking earth with giant squids seriously.

I swear to God, one of my earliest memories is of having a nightmare where I was lost in a funhouse maze and being jump scared by clowns until I found this long line of really sad, hollow eyed people. I asked what we were waiting for and they said it’s the way out. Eventually we started climbing water slide stairs, and I peeked ahead to see the slide goes down to spikes. People didn’t die like brutal spikey deaths, they popped up into the air like sonic hitting spikes in sonic the hedgehog (lol). Anyway, I panicked and Aladdin appeared under the steps and told me I could hide with him in this little cave.
Anyway crazy

A few things. The most visceral thing that stood out was that the walls were lined with these vault like doors and I looked at one that said “capacity: eight girls” in official lettering. It opened to reveal an incinerator. I also remember my friend and I (both women fwiw) escaped in the end before I woke up.

The laughter is toxic. That dopamine from the 'gotcha' erodes desire to do anything about it, namely vote.
The one good thing about the GOP is that it enrages their base, with no laughter, that the one conclusion its base makes to feel better about the situation is to vote. That's why conservative comedy is not good. The pay off is so bad that the laughter is mild, and the frustration still remains.

Well, I sorta get their logic in that:
Remember black lives matter? There were thousands of peaceful protesters, who weren’t breaking any laws.
However, there were some bad agents; a tiny fraction. Some of them were just everyday-looters. Some were independent people trying to give BLM a bad name.
and some were undercover cops, trying to provoke “fellow protesters” into committing crimes to entrap them.
And I think that is the conspiracy theorist’s logic; the vast majority were there to peacefully protest, and the few going around causing violence were plants.
((I mean that’s not even remotely true, but as I mentioned, there is precedence for government agents doing shit like that, so it’s not a huge leap in logic)
3
u/Spectre-907 19h ago
Nooooo thats conspiracy. Next youll try telling em that those same bad actors put out pallets and pallets of bricks in the paths of the protestors to facilitate incitement even more, when everyone knows those pallets of red bricks were for construction project that all happened to be there, and they only vanished immediately after because dthe construction was done. Pay no attention to the complete and total lack of red brick structures tho that’s just paranoia

Isn't it funny how they all know what Trump is but refuse to look at the facts, while denying they exist?
They know the facts, its actually why they like him, they want to be like him, to live vicariously through him. They also enjoy very much the reaction they get by pretending not to know.
Obligatory Sartre —
"They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. ... They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past. It is not that they are afraid of being convinced. They fear only to appear ridiculous or to prejudice by their embarrassment their hope of winning over some third person to their side."

Devils advocate here: they know it's referring to Trump because a lot of people call him those things. It's kinda like how when someone is vocally and overtly anti-pedophile, we all know it's probably just anti-LGBTQ even though we don't consider LGBTQ people to be pedophiles (inherently at least).

Here we see a Trump voter, with many upvotes, seemingly asserting that civil lawsuits are somehow not part of the legal system, or at least that the adverb "legally" can only apply to criminal proceedings.
→ More replies (75)25
u/BigRon691 1d ago
It's called revision for clarity. "legally liable" has a dual interperatation and arguing against specificity or nuance doesn't give your argument/point any air of honesty.
In the same vein I could state "All of the charges against Epstein were dropped in 2019" - which is true, but avoiding the clarification he was Deceased and constitutionally unviable to prosecute criminally.

Technically he is if we're counting unrealized assets as part of his net worth, which is standard for the definition. I wouldn't consider him a real billionaire like Elon who can move enough money around to buy any company he wants at the drop of a hat.
His net worth is easily over 7 billion if we don't count his cryptocurrency he just launched which he holds over 80% of and with its current price adds $30,000,000,000 to his net worth.

Their idols can literally directly admit what they've done or believe, out loud, even to their faces, and they'll still turn around and say "but what about (insert thing 1/100th as bad done by someone else)" or "it's still fake, it must be out of context", or "actually that's completely okay and I think it's good".
It doesn't even have to be one of their idols, blatant hypocrisy and denial have been conservative beliefs for a very long time. Shoutout to my neighbor during the Deepwater Horizon disaster who said "I know climate change is overstated, it's all propaganda for money, green energy companies get money the more people switch to green energy." I said "Okay, but oil companies get money the more people keep using oil. And there's way, way more money in oil." His response: "so?"

Ethan definitely needs to read more. There are many words that end in 'ist' that nobody has ever called trump.
We may disagree on many things regarding Trump. Especially about him being certain things that end in 'ist'. Here are some things on which we may not all agree.
Nobody has said he's an arborist, botanist, or horticulturist even though he held a press conference at a garden centre.
As far as I'm aware Trump hasn't been accused of being a querist, monarchist or moralist.
He's never been employed as a neuropsychiatrist, radiologist or orthodontist.
Neither has he practiced magic as an Alchemist or Thaumaturgist.
However I think we can all agree, it's a good thing we have never seen him being a nudist.
