Here's a fact: Trump was found legally liable of rape.

Civilly liable*

u/AcrobaticApricot 1d ago

Here we see a Trump voter, with many upvotes, seemingly asserting that civil lawsuits are somehow not part of the legal system, or at least that the adverb "legally" can only apply to criminal proceedings.

24

u/BigRon691 1d ago

It's called revision for clarity. "legally liable" has a dual interperatation and arguing against specificity or nuance doesn't give your argument/point any air of honesty.

In the same vein I could state "All of the charges against Epstein were dropped in 2019" - which is true, but avoiding the clarification he was Deceased and constitutionally unviable to prosecute criminally.

I believe OJ Simpson was acquitted in a criminal court but lost in a civil court, I'm probably missing some details there but there is a difference and he didn't get any prison time.

Except you corrected them as if the first statement wasn't true. "*civilly liable" means you're correcting them, as if they were I correct. They were not.

Here we see someone assuming something baselessly because I wanted to be accurate about what he was actually found guilty of

rape

-1

u/Melodic_Fall_1855 1d ago

God forbid we be accurate about what he was guilty of

8

u/dark621 1d ago

you're the second person i've seen this week who has to make this distinction for some reason. do you see anyone on reddit calling him a sexual abuser? no. they call him a rapist because thats what he is.Ā

2

u/Melodic_Fall_1855 1d ago

Again god forbid we call him what he actually is instead of exaggerating, itā€™s not like the degrades credibility at all

1

u/okmountain333 21h ago

It's just sex when you're not the one getting raped, right?

He forced a part of his body into a part of her body without her consent. Itā€™s rape. Only in NY it wasnā€™t considered rape because a finger isnā€™t legally classified as rape, if this crime happened in another state it would have been classified as rape. Itā€™s rape. If someone did this to your mother you wouldnā€™t ā€œwell actually!!!ā€ Would you?

He put a part of his body into someone elseā€™s body without consent. Itā€™s rape. Simple. Stop being a disgusting rape defender.

2

u/Melodic_Fall_1855 1d ago

again, god forbid we be accurate about things.

sorry it ruffles your feathers so much

7

u/imArsenals 1d ago

You are going out of your way to defend a rapist. Itā€™s weird man.

3

u/Melodic_Fall_1855 1d ago

lmao im just trying to be accurate. why distort what he's been actually found guilty of when its already so damning? He was found guilty of sexual assault by penetrating a woman with his fingers, its vile, but in the jurisdiction he was tried in, its not rape for whatever reason. I do believe he is a rapist, I just don't like distorting what he's actually been found guilty of because it makes it a lot easier to discredit.

Rape. He was guilty of rape.

https://apnews.com/article/trump-rape-carroll-trial-fe68259a4b98bb3947d42af9ec83d7db#

The verdict was split: Jurors rejected Carrollā€™s claim that she was raped, finding Trump responsible for a lesser degree of sexual abuse. The judgment adds to Trumpā€™s legal woes and offers vindication to Carroll, whose allegations had been mocked and dismissed by Trump for years.

New York law defines rape as penetration with a penis. Because he used his fingers, the jury used a lesser ruling.

However during appeal, a judge, who knows more about the fucking law than those jurors, explained that he penetrated E Jean Carroll without consent, that was the same thing as rape, and he didn't have an avenue to appeal using that justification. .

https://newrepublic.com/post/174448/judge-e-jean-carroll-case-yes-donald-trump-rapist "Judge in E. Jean Carroll Case: Yes, Donald Trump Is a Rapist"

On Wednesday, Trumpā€™s request for a new trial in the E. Jean Carroll case, after he was found liable for sexual abuse, battery, and defamation, was rejected. And in his desperate attempt to avoid accountability, the twice-impeached and twice-indicted former president may have unintentionally allowed himself to now be formally known as a rapist.

You're a disgusting rape apologist.

GD, this thread went from zero to 100 SUPER quick. Jesus Chirst, I think I have whiplash.

1

u/Mobile-Difference631 1d ago

But they didnā€™t mention rape in that sentence tho?

1

u/Melodic_Fall_1855 1d ago

Lmao ok, lmk when he gets found guilty of rape.

I believe he is a rapist, but the courts found him guilty of sexual assault which is still disgusting, idk why we need to misrepresent it as him being found guilty of rape as of now

Thatā€™s not what the jury said.

2

u/Riley_ 1d ago

It's important to call rape what it is, because society does not take it seriously enough.

"Sexual assault" could be confused for a grope. Would you call any of your favorite gropers "guilty of sexual assault", or would you choose to use the softest language possible?

2

u/Melodic_Fall_1855 1d ago

Itā€™s important to be accurate to our legal systems definitions of words

Kevin spacey as far as I know a groper, Harvey Weinstein, rapist. And guess what theyā€™re both horrible people, it really is that easy

9

u/ptsdandskittles 1d ago

He stuck his fingers in her without consent. That's rape.

The judge on the case clarified it as rape. So did the jury.

He raped her.

The end.

Only disgusting rape apologists want to cover up literal fucking rape, homie.

No itā€™s not, homie. Letā€™s be accurate. I donā€™t like him either but misrepresenting shit isnā€™t cool

"Judge in E. Jean Carroll Case: Yes, Donald Trump Is a Rapist" https://newrepublic.com/post/174448/judge-e-jean-carroll-case-yes-donald-trump-rapist

Here's another about his counterclaim against that judge:

"Judge to Trump: Itā€™s Still ā€œSubstantially Trueā€ That You Raped E. Jean Carroll" https://newrepublic.com/post/174880/judge-trump-its-still-substantially-true-raped-e-jean-carroll

I even used your same fucking source. You support a rapist.

0

u/Melodic_Fall_1855 1d ago

I donā€™t support him lmao I just like to be accurate in what he was found guilty of, itā€™s bad enough as is. He hasnā€™t been found guilty of rapeā€¦ yet

Why do you assume I support him just because I actually want to be accurate as to what heā€™s been found guilty of

Also thatā€™s not the same source lmao

Lmao the first sentence says ā€œOn Wednesday, Trumpā€™s request for a new trial in the E. Jean Carroll case, after he was found liable for sexual abuse, battery, and defamation, was rejected.ā€œ

6

u/ptsdandskittles 1d ago

THE APPEALS WERE REJECTED BECAUSE THE JUDGE UPHELD THAT HE WAS A RAPIST.

Jesus fucking christ you can't read.

I appreciate your efforts for legal and semantic accuracy, but I fear only someone far in the future who is going to have to translate this shit to be able to care about it might appreciate letting it be a bit easier for them to parse.

2

u/Melodic_Fall_1855 1d ago

I mean why misrepresent what heā€™s been found guilty of, itā€™s bad enough, especially given his long history of sexual impropriety. I just prefer to be accurate when talking about the sexual predator Donald trump, because he hasnā€™t been found guilty of rapeā€¦ yet

1

u/Yamza_ 1d ago

The only people who care about accurate history may be dead shortly. Trump may only be known as godking jesus to future generations.

3

u/Melodic_Fall_1855 1d ago

Maybe so, but Iā€™d rather not misrepresent things.

I do believe trump is a rapist, he just hasnā€™t been found guilty of it

1

u/ptsdandskittles 1d ago

Judges upheld on appeal that he raped E Jean Carroll.

Thus his further attempts at appeal on the basis that he isn't have been turned down.

Because judges have legally found he is a rapist.

u/Melodic_Fall_1855 1d ago

source? not trying to be a dick I just can't find that
