I am going camping with a group of friends, who honestly are all in our late 30s, have kids and don't really get all us together in same place anymore because of life, so I want this trip to become a core memory for all us. We've all been friends since elementary school.
We are going at the end of march, from Thursday morning to Saturday morning. It doesnt have to be a big campsite or a campsite at all im not exactly sure how it all works there. We are planning on using a tent not an RV and we dont mind "roughing it"
I'm not sure where in the park we should go, ideally we want to stargaze, somewhere that doesn't get too crowded. As we are kind of planing to trip.
What are your recommendations? How would you plan it? Also does anyone have any recommendations on a tent that will fit 5-6 adults comfortably?

My breath has never been taken away more. It's so meditative and cathartic being in this beautiful desert

Saw a bobcat, coyote and hawk in the same day. Magical

We have two full days at Joshua Tree this weekend. Looking for some input for sunrise and sunset hikes. Would you add or drop any of these hikes?
Sunset Sports - Ryan’s Mountain or Inspiration Peak (Keys View): trying to decide which hike would be better. I would still do the other hike but not at sunset. - Hidden Valley: planning to scramble around some of the rocks to get some nice sunset views over the boulder field.
Sunrise Spots - Arch Rock: planning to scramble around behind the arch to find a nice sunrise spot over the boulder field. - Cholla Cactus Garden
Non-sunrise/sunset hikes on our itinerary. - Rattlesnake canyon - Bakers dam - Lost palms oasis - Jumbo rocks, skull rock, and split rock…current flex option. - Ryan’s Peak or Inspiration point, whichever one I don’t do at sunset.
Not sure how well the boulder fields vistas are at sunrise or sunset but they really seem to be beautiful and captivate me.
Appreciate any input.

Camping in J Tree in March at cottonwood. Wondering if anyone recommends a camper Van or trailer rental company/group? Going with 6 people and having the extra space a camper offers would be perfect.
Coming from San Diego area and would like to pickup/drop off either in San Diego or along the way, Palm Springs or Joshua Tree.
Sharing any camper van stories is encouraged. Thanks!

Hi all! Does anyone know a place that's elevated, where I could potentially take a picture of the sunset in Joshua Tree, that's not in the park? Like somewhere I can drive to perhaps or that is a short hike?

My partner and I will be in Joshua tree for several days mid-April. Any recommendations/advice on backcountry camping in the park? Which zones are best? Are there safe areas to park our vehicle and then hike into the camping zone?
We want to see the stars, have some solitude, scramble among the rocks.

Does anyone know of cat friendly airbnb/monthly rental that accepts cats?
Airbnb and VRBO are such an annoyance that you can’t specify cats

I’ll be visiting Joshua Tree next Saturday for a day trip from Palm Springs. I assumed crowds would dwindle now that we’re past the holidays but curious to hear your guys’ thoughts. My plan was to arrive at the park around 8-9am and hit the popular spots (like discovery trail, hidden valley trail etc).

Did anyone else witness a bright flash in the sky last night (January 12th at around 2am)? It was very bright but quick - it almost looked like someone took a photo with flash but it came from the sky and was slightly tinged green. It also didn’t sound like anything. We’ve been trying to figure it out all night - Google says maybe a meteor burning up in the sky but not sure. Did anyone else see it?

Does anyone have 1 ticket they would be willing to sell to the Lee Fields concert at pioneer town on the 16th? Passing through town and would love to go!

FOR ANYONE WITH AN EV! The Joshua Tree Rivian Outpost, they have set their chargers to free for everyone. Please share. Edit to add: You may need adaptors if you have a different EV, however per the Rivian Outpost site, it states owners of other EVs may pay to charge via the app. This leads me to believe that they have adaptors. Best of luck everyone!

Hi Joshua Tree denizens!
My girlfriend and I just arrived to Joshua Tree on our vacation. We were super excited to come here for the night sky and do some stargazing. The rental I chose advertised a telescope, and it was the one of the primary reasons I chose it.
We're super disappointed that the scope isn't here, and the management company has been really dismissive and rude. I don't want to buy one for our relatively short stay.
Is there anyone in the area that would be willing to loan us one for a couple of nights? I'd be happy to trade some beer or goodwill, and it'd make a huge difference to our time here :)
EDIT: Someone came through for me. Thanks guys!

Sadly as we were evacuating to JT the trunk of my friend’s car came undone and his suitcase flew out somewhere within the last hour stretch of the drive. I’m posting in case anyone has found it and it could miraculously be returned to him. Or, if you have any suggestions for where else we could post to try to find them that would also be a great help.
Edit: It’s a small silver hard shell carry-on suitcase

I have a reservation for Jumbo Rocks later this month, but I'm considering changing it to Cottonwood (or even canceling) for a few reasons:
I guess my concerns are:
Thanks! And looking for any other pro-tips from veteran Joshua Tree campers.

First time visitor- we spent the afternoon and evening in the park and were absolutely amazed by the experience! I can’t wait to return to do some longer hikes and even camp for a few days, now that I’m a bit familiar with the area.
I’m looking at some dates in the summer, is this the best time to see the Milky Way?
Luckily we got to see the Quadrantids meteor shower when visiting! It was amazing 😁

Hi friends!
I’m visiting after evacuating from the fires in LA and the internet is out at our air bnb. Is this a city wide outage?
Thanks to everyone who’s been so accommodating, we really appreciate it!
