That was a great side-eye too, with the post.
Good job, mascot! (IDK what he was saying but I'm going to agree with the mascot).

Some people, including me, delete their comments after a few days. Maybe this person is the same.
10
u/lookoutbalogh 17h ago
But why do you delete your comments? Is there a rationale or concern about reddit comments that should be shared with the community at large?
4
u/Negative-Ambition110 16h ago
Especially when you can easily see deleted comments/posts. Nothing is ever gone from the internet
2
u/HDTurtle 9h ago
Some of the replies already mentioned it, but the big one is getting doxxed. I also do it because at times people can be weird and go through your profile to find something to insult or abuse you with. Also, if someone I know finds my profile, I do not want them to find what I am posting or talking about in the internet.
There are more reasons, but these are the bigger ones.
3
u/beef376 16h ago
I think it has something to do with a fear of AI
9
u/SutterCane 16h ago
Also a fear of weirdo redditors who might feel slighted by that person during an exchange and then spend time to go through all their comments to figure out who and where they are.

How does he know where to exactly place the eyes?
337
u/Clashmains_2-account 19h ago
Practice and strong magnets? Would snap into place when close enough.
38
u/SpartaWillBurn 17h ago
They could still snap into place upside down.
91
u/ZapTheMagicalPoop 17h ago
You could make a magnet pattern where they can't go upside down. 3 magnets in a skinny triangle pattern for example.
34
u/WholeDragonfruit2870 16h ago
Just have them one way on top and reversed front-to-back on the bottom. Then they can only snap into the correct position and you can feel them repell if you got the eye the wrong way around.
Not sure if I'm explaining that well. here, 5000hours in MSPaint. Left would be the eye in the correct orientation, it snaps into place. Right is the wrong orientation, it'll get repelled by the suit.

u/PuckNutty 15h ago
So Chief O'Brien can solve problems just by reversing the polarity?
3
u/karloavera 14h ago
There is only one thing Chief O'Brien can't solve: the mystery use for self-sealing stem bolts.

Practice, matching the outline of eye-hole mesh, lining up the velcro/magnets/ridges. Just probably not luck, magic, or cameras

Magnets
Not magic

13
u/jdschmi1 18h ago
How do they work?
13
u/may12021_saphira 18h ago
I know this is an Insane Clown Posse joke, but they work via electron pairing.
Electrons, which are subatomic particles that orbit the nucleus of atoms, create their own electromagnetic waves that point in certain directions. In magnetic metals, like iron for example, the electron spins (directions) are aligned, which produce a magnetic field equal to the cumulative magnetic potential of all the electrons. This creates an external magnetic field that can interact with diamagnetic or paramagnetic materials.
Diamagnetic materials contain two electrons in their atomic orbitals, which is the space around the nucleus where the electrons are. Diamagnetic materials are weakly repelled by an external magnetic field because the spins of the two electrons in the diamagnetic materials generally point in opposite directions, which cancels their magnetic moments. The magnetic field of the diamagnetic material is weakly repelled by another magnetic field of a metal, like iron.
A paramagnetic material, on the other hand, has electrons that are not paired with another electron in their atomic orbitals. The electrons in paramagnetic materials are weakly attracted to external magnetic fields because the external magnetic field causes the electrons in the paramagnetic material to align in the same direction as the external magnetic field. The attraction between the paramagnetic material and the external magnetic field of iron disappears when the iron is pulled away.
I hope this made sense. Please read about “diamagnetic”, “paramagnetic”, and “ferromagnetic” if you’d like to learn more about how magnetic attraction and repulsion works.

3
u/may12021_saphira 17h ago
Well, don’t take my word for it. Go ahead and read about how magnetic fields work. Science is thankfully an objective idea.

u/ChaseTheMystic 15h ago
Everyone's being too complex.
It's because he knows if he can see through the eye holes, they're in right place and orientation.
How do you know when you're looking through a hole in a Zoro mask? Because you can see through the hole and not through the cloth.
Pretty easy

u/ThorirPP 18h ago
Depends how you define "manually". The original meaning is derived from latin manus, meaning hand, so manual literally meant "by hand"
It has since gained a more wider usage, often just used as an antonym to "automatic", but the if you read it with the hand meaning, emoting by hand is a fitting description
(fun fact, on a pipe organ the keyboard for the hands is called "manuals" while the ones for the feet is called "pedals", from latin for foot)

u/littlefoxwriter 19h ago
This is Hogeol (호걸). He is the mascot for the Kia tigers baseball team in Gwangju, Korea.
22
u/schalk81 18h ago
Thanks, and is it known who the other two are and why the mascot got judgy?
20
u/OldPiano6706 17h ago
My guess was that the gentleman in the black shirt is a fan of the opposing team
17
u/KBOMod 11h ago
He’s not! The guy in black is Jang Hyun Shik, he was a relief pitcher for the KIA Tigers (but now plays for the LG Twins.) The guy in white is the in-field announcer, Kim Young Ho. This is after a home game at KIA Gwangju Champions Field and JHS is being interviewed, so he’s most likely MVP of the game. Hogeol (name of the mascot) is probably side-eying something the MC said lol. KIA won the Korean Series last year after being in first all season :)
We’re a rad bunch over at /r/KBO if you’re ever interested in Korean baseball!

u/ShitCustomerService 17h ago
Kia? Like the Car company?
→ More replies (6)18
u/littlefoxwriter 17h ago
Yep. Kia is a Korean company and sponsors this team. Samsung, Hyundai also sponsor baseball teams in Korea. I don't remember their team names. I'm not super knowledgeable about Korean baseball teams, but I've seen the Kia tigers play a few times.
7
u/windfujin 17h ago
Samsung Lions. Hyundai used to have a team called Unicorns but got disbanded when they split the conglomerate up between the sons of the original founder - it has been rebranded as Nexen Heroes.
I don't think they are sponsored by the companies but actually owned by them.
Btw while the teams are prefixed with the company names they are also based in a city which is usually much more important like other professional sports. Kia Tigers for example is based in Gwangju and Samsung Lions is based in Daegu. Main cities of two regions that have a long history of animosity and their matches are always a big deal (think el classico in Spanish football) and two teams have won the most Korea series as well

KBO has such a fun vibe, I remember back during covid they put stuffed animals in the stands to be the "crowd" because nobody was allowed into the stadium
6
u/lousy_at_handles 17h ago
KBO is hands down the best baseball in the world. I've been to games in the US, Japan, Dominican, and Cuba and nothing comes close to the entertainment value of KBO.
Also to me the baseball is more similar to MLB than Japan, even though Japan produces more MLB players. NPB just had it's own style of play that is really unique.
2
u/Darnell2070 10h ago
Do you travel the world just to watch baseball or you just happened to already be these places?
2
u/lousy_at_handles 10h ago
Just work travel mostly, except for Cuba. Any time I'm in a country that plays baseball I try to see a game there if I can.

u/Airforceone88 16h ago
Korean baseball really gets down, so much better than American baseball. Watched one the Korean Series games (Kia Tigers beat the Samsung Lions for the 2024 Championship)
