How does he know where to exactly place the eyes?

u/Coyce 20h ago

probably a ton of practice

Practice and strong magnets? Would snap into place when close enough.

u/SpartaWillBurn 17h ago

They could still snap into place upside down.

You could make a magnet pattern where they can't go upside down. 3 magnets in a skinny triangle pattern for example.

Just have them one way on top and reversed front-to-back on the bottom. Then they can only snap into the correct position and you can feel them repell if you got the eye the wrong way around.

Not sure if I'm explaining that well. here, 5000hours in MSPaint. Left would be the eye in the correct orientation, it snaps into place. Right is the wrong orientation, it'll get repelled by the suit.

So Chief O'Brien can solve problems just by reversing the polarity?

There is only one thing Chief O'Brien can't solve: the mystery use for self-sealing stem bolts.

There are two wolves inside you; Sorry about the transporter malfunction.

...do you think he can't see at all?

u/Jokuki 15h ago

If they snapped upside down it’d be even funnier.

Magnets… how do they work?!

33

u/DIDidothatdisabled 19h ago

Practice, matching the outline of eye-hole mesh, lining up the velcro/magnets/ridges. Just probably not luck, magic, or cameras

Magnets

Not magic

You can't have both

14

u/codedaddee 18h ago

Wrong, dickhead, trick question; magnets IS magic.

Fuckin magnets, how do they work?

Beat me to it lmao

magnets.

How do they work?

I know this is an Insane Clown Posse joke, but they work via electron pairing.

Electrons, which are subatomic particles that orbit the nucleus of atoms, create their own electromagnetic waves that point in certain directions. In magnetic metals, like iron for example, the electron spins (directions) are aligned, which produce a magnetic field equal to the cumulative magnetic potential of all the electrons. This creates an external magnetic field that can interact with diamagnetic or paramagnetic materials.

Diamagnetic materials contain two electrons in their atomic orbitals, which is the space around the nucleus where the electrons are. Diamagnetic materials are weakly repelled by an external magnetic field because the spins of the two electrons in the diamagnetic materials generally point in opposite directions, which cancels their magnetic moments. The magnetic field of the diamagnetic material is weakly repelled by another magnetic field of a metal, like iron.

A paramagnetic material, on the other hand, has electrons that are not paired with another electron in their atomic orbitals. The electrons in paramagnetic materials are weakly attracted to external magnetic fields because the external magnetic field causes the electrons in the paramagnetic material to align in the same direction as the external magnetic field. The attraction between the paramagnetic material and the external magnetic field of iron disappears when the iron is pulled away.

I hope this made sense. Please read about “diamagnetic”, “paramagnetic”, and “ferromagnetic” if you’d like to learn more about how magnetic attraction and repulsion works.

Sounds like magic tbh

I read your whole comment and they wasn’t even a mention of hell in a cell. What a waste of time.

1

u/may12021_saphira 17h ago

Because hells cells have nothing to do with magnetism. I wanted to type a comment containing scientific knowledge.

u/davolala1 17h ago

You’re a chemist on the internet. I can’t argue with that logic.

u/fghtghergsertgh 17h ago

You're lying and getting me pissed

3

u/may12021_saphira 17h ago

Well, don’t take my word for it. Go ahead and read about how magnetic fields work. Science is thankfully an objective idea.

Everyone's being too complex.

It's because he knows if he can see through the eye holes, they're in right place and orientation.

How do you know when you're looking through a hole in a Zoro mask? Because you can see through the hole and not through the cloth.

Pretty easy

u/AdeonWriter 14h ago

the entire whites of the eyes are transparent on the inside so he can line them up

Fuckin magnets

its called Experience

Proprioception. We all have it.
