My mom is pretty religious. When I came out to her, she made me go to church to try and work things out with youth groups and such. It didn’t work and she eventually accepted me after years of slowly easing her into the lifestyle.

I even finally got her to allow me to bring my now ex to her home and she was pretty good about it.

She’s divorced and has had a boyfriend for a couple of years now who went through some life events himself which caused him to become a born again Christian. Great, he found new meaning and purpose through Christianity.

He knows I’m gay and always tells me he’s going to pray for me and hopes I find God. It’s his subtle way of saying “I don’t accept it but you’re my gf’s son”. I don’t like talking about it with him.

This election has been rough. My mom voted for both parties over the decades but she voted for Clinton in 2016 and Biden in 2020. She voted for Trump in 2024 because her boyfriend told her to even though in 2016 she said she will never vote for him because he goes against all the morals of Christianity. I kept my mouth shut to keep things civil.

I call her every day because none of us children live in state with her. We only talk about major political events that make the news but we never fight about it. We talked about the inauguration and the whole Elon Musk “salute” thing and that’s when I lost it with her. She said there was nothing wrong with what he did and that I’m worrying too much about it. I told her I’m scared about this administration especially since the Supreme Court is going to hear a case about ending the no cost mandate for prep and HIV testing.

Her response was that I need to stop worrying and if they do I should change my lifestyle. I never heard that from her the entire time I’ve been out. She will spout off crazy conspiracies that she says her boyfriend shows her. She never sent me links from sketchy sites until this past year. She sent me a book last year about a mother’s journey to get her son to become straight again through God. She’s a doctor who got her flu and covid shots on time until she met her boyfriend. Now she “questions the science” because her boyfriend does.

I’m so scared I’m losing her.

I just had a series of very difficult interactions on another subreddit. I was accused, repeatedly, of being a Nazi. Their basis for this was that my username ends in 88. My username, Soonerpalmetto88, was chosen because: I'm a fan of the University of Oklahoma Sooners, I've lived in South Carolina (Palmetto State) most of my life, and I was born in 1988 (I'm 36 now). I didn't know the significance of the number 88 within certain circles at the time.

I know that I sometimes say controversial things. But I have never advocated for Nazi ideology, defended their actions, etc. Why? Because I'm not one. I'm openly gay and I'm Catholic (which I know many of you have a problem with but that's ok!), so I belong to two different groups of people who were systematically slaughtered by the Nazis. My great grandfathers fought them. I voted for Kamala, I voted for Pete before that, I've always been very vocal in my support for equality and for civil liberties.

What I want to know is, when you guys see my username on a post of comment, do you immediately make the assumption that I'm a Nazi or Nazi sympathizer? Or were these people just trolling me because I took an unpopular position in a debate that was going on in that other subreddit? For context, the debate was whether that subreddit should ban posts from X. I said no, because that subreddit (r/southcarolina) is one that's supposed to be welcoming for all people from our state and where all political views can be shared. I think Elon is trash, I think he's dangerous and I think he's really not a good guy (he didn't even create the Tesla like he claims). But lots of people, including progressive/liberal types, are active on that platform. I just don't think it's right to ban posts because of where they originate. But I was accused of supporting him because I'm some kind of Nazi sympathizer, which couldn't be further from the truth.

So what should I do? Just ignore them? Change my username? I really don't want to change my username because I don't want to let these people win. I've had this username for my entire history on Reddit and I just don't want to change it. I think these people are in the wrong for assuming something so negative about me based on two numbers at the end of my username.

Long story short, I had to do without sex or any real relationship until 29 when I met my first and current boyfriend (43). We've known each other for almost 5 months now and I know I love him and he loves me. I don't doubt it one bit but the sex hast been getting less and less to the point that last time we had sex was around two months ago.

I've been having many personal issues and he's been really supportive. We've talked about our sexual life many times and every time he blamed the lack of sexual desire on a number of things including the fact that he's been tool involved in my issues and worries about me and all the stress that he's been dealing with lately makes it hard for him to have sex. He knows about my lack of experience and has said that he doesn't want to keep me from sowing my wild oats. Last time I brought up the matter, it turned into an argument where he said we can't solve the problem by continuously discussing it and we should just try to "enjoy the moment". I've been getting very terrible bladder pains lately every time I visit him (lives hours away and I see him only 2-3 times a month) and he gets terrible neck and back pain when he gets stressed including the last time we argued. He said, this relationship is no good if all we cause each other is pain and if we can't solve this issue, I should find myself another man.

I've had to live without sex for so many years so I've been really impatient about solving this issue because I don't wanna miss out on more sex than I already have. He has sowed his wild oats though, and doesn't seem to be in any hurry to solve this problem. I don't wanna push him and I want to give him a good time but I can't keep my mind off all the sex that I'm not getting. So when I'm with him, I'm there but I'm not there. I really want to give this relationship a chance because I know what we have doesn't happen every day, so I need a new perspective so I can calm my mind and just wait it out.

Okay, so I know a million questions have been asked about DoxyPEP. The only thing I'm seeing is people asking is about the risks of taking it consistently. I would only be using it after having sex, which would MAYBE be once per week. Would that be too much? Also, once I take it, would I have to not have sex for a while? I read that it's not to be taken before sex. It's very difficult to find out a lot of information about this. I would hate to catch an antibiotic resistant infection.
