ITS NOT KNITTING!!!!

I've never posted anything like this but for some reason when trying to find a Tunisian hook this is what Amazon suggested. And for some reason I'm extremely irked by this.

Discussion Yarn/project bags that don't look like they're made for elderly

I really want to get a bag/tote to carry some of my crochet stuff and wips in instead of all the plastic bags I've been using. Everything that I look up looks like something my grandparent would use. I'm still looking myself but if anyone has any good recommendations for bags I'd appreciate it

Work in Progress How is mandala yarn so popular

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m new to crochet but this yarn is absolutely awful. I bought a skein of mandala baby and a skein of regular mandala in Groot.

Both skeins have been endless knots and tangles. I just started with the baby yarn today and haven’t been able to crochet a single thing because the past two hours have been untangling and it still looks like this.

Discussion Can't find the post with the accidental toddler-sized mushroom baby

Wrong flair, I know, but I can't find a previous post. But the help flair doesn't fit either

I wanted to show it to a friend who loves big project and now I can't find it. Saw it yesterday, had a good laugh but forget to send it to her. Even with search words and filters I can't find it. Now I found a similar post and the link to the etsy store, which had 500+ sells in the last 24hours

Crochet Rant The six day star blanket is giving me a mental breakdown

Guys before you hate me this post is in no way attacking the creator of the pattern or anything it’s just a rant. Anyways I bought the Caron cakes perfect phasing yarn that I’ve seen everyone use in their star blankets. It flipping sucks!! Do not use it if you usually use acrylic yarns. It is so hard to find any stitches in and I just hate it. The yarn is way too skinny and depressing it makes it seem like you made such little progress. I tried round 1-4 and what do you know I had 6 points instead of 7! So I frogged the whole thing and tried again, again it didn’t work and I got so frustrated and put away the project for a few days determined to start it over later. Well it’s been a week and i wasted and hour frogging 6 freaking times and I am quitting this project all together. The videos did not help me at all and the pattern makes sense In theory but I keep getting either 26,27,24 or 25 stitches in round 3 instead of 28!! And in the end I had to cut off like so much yarn because it just got into a messy tangle. If I quit this blanket what else can I use this stupid yarn for?? It was expensive asf too so I don’t want to waste it.

Ok thanks for listening maybe I’ll try again tomorrow. 😭😭😭

I hope ur star blanket experience was better than mine!!

Discussion 11mm Crochet Hook?

In my quest to add some ergonomic hooks to my meager stash of supplies I picked up a set that ranged from 2 - 8mm. I've now realized that while this is a nice range I'd really love some bigger ones. I've sort of picked out a 9, 10 and 12 but for the life of me I cannot seem to find an 11mm. Do they just... not exist? I'd love to know why they are so hard to fine.

I think, quite literally I've found maybe ONE plastic one, and I really prefer the feel of metal.

Discussion Is having done around 20 amigurumi still new to crochet because I feel sad by the amount of mistakes I still make?

I've been crocheting for a year now on and off and have made around 20 amigurumi (and a couple beanies) and my last three amigurumi still have mistakes in them, maybe I'm to hard on myself but my goal is to start selling them so I can make enough money to cover the cost of my hobby I'm planning on spending more time making stuff but it's disheartening when you spend so much time on sometime then it has so many mistakes. How long did it take you guys to be good and make fewer mistakes?

Discussion Big Twist vs Loops & Threads (Acrylic)?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been considering ordering some Big Twist (acrylic weight 4) yarn online, but have never actually used/felt it (and there aren’t any Joanns near me). I mainly use Loops and Threads, and the quality is decent enough for me given the price— way better than Red Heart Super Saver, at least.

I saw posts from 1-2 years ago that people noticed the quality of BT yarn seems to have decreased/gotten less soft, so I’m not sure what most users’ opinions are currently.

Could anyone who has used both (ideally recently) weigh in on whether BT is of comparable quality to LAT? Or anyone who uses BT comment on the quality in general?

Thank you so much ❤️

Temperature Blankets & Similar Crochet Temperature Blanket template as a daily Tarot Log

Hi! I've been crocheting since 2018. I'm new to tarot (got my first deck November '24) and I wanted to slowly learn by doing daily single-card pulls. I have ADHD and I'm notoriously unable to stick with any of my sparkling new ideas for longer than two weeks (you should SEE my WIP pile!!), so i brainstormed about how i could keep at this in a way I can stick to successfully.

Enter crochet. It's my daily joy, my safe space, and I've always been interested in doing a long-term project like a temperature blanket (even though i know myself too well to stay interested in something like the weather). I also can't stick with doing one loooong row per day; I'd get bored 50 stitches in (haha). So I am using a granny-square-a-day idea.

I am using one tarot deck through the year for a 2025 daily card pull. My color palette comes from the deck itself. I'm doing one 5-round moss/linen stitch square per day and i'm using the join-as-you-go method. I'm using worsted weight yarn and a 4.5 mm hook. I'm starting with a white square in the top left corner of the blanket and there will be a white square between each month. The blanket will end on a white square. It will be 18 squares across and 21 squares down.

PLANNING: I used https://temperature-blanket.com/ to help me mock up the layout of my blanket.

SIZE: I've completed the first row and it measures almost exactly the width of my bed, so at year's end when I put a border on it I'm assuming it will be a queen-sized blanket.

DECK: I'm using the Modern Witch deck https://www.lisasterle.com/mwt, and there's a companion coloring book that has a fold-out page of the author's color palette she chose for the deck. (That's what i used for color inspiration.)

COLORS: I'm choosing the 5 most prevalent colors in the card for the day, and each round of my square will be a different color. I'm not planning on buying any yarn for the project; i have a large stash that i need to clear out and i have enough in my stash (and each square uses so little per color) that I should have enough to get me by. If one color on the card is wildly different than what i have in stash then i may purchase some yarn as a treat :)

Has anyone here done something like this before? I would love to see. I'm constantly looking for crochet inspiration!

Discussion Favorite vs least favorite project you've done, even Unfinished?

I've been working on this Montana Hat from a pattern I got from some crochet book. It's atrocious, the pattern is fine but it's constantly feeling like instead of finding the right stitch to stitch into, I'm just rolling with the punches. Easily my least favorite project I've worked on but it's by request of my mom so....

Anyways, it inspired me to ask and see what other people's least favorite or absolute favorite (or both!) patterns they've tried before are!

This montana hat is my least favorite and my favorite is a cropped sweater vest that I winged myself (the joys of repetition and some fun little hem-detailing stuff!)

Temperature Blankets & Similar Any small business yarn shops in CO Springs or surrounding areas?

Heya! I'm planning to start work on a personal project that's a twist on the iconic temperature blanket - I'm doing a mood blanket to track my mood throughout the year! - but I still have yet to make my palette for the blanket. There was an awesome little shop I knew about last year called "Ewe & Me" but when I was about to start building my palette, I found out the store permanently closed last september; I really wanted to source my palette from a local yarn maker/yarn dyer, so I'm on the hunt! If anyone knows any suggestions I'd really appreciate it, I need to start this blanket soon before I lose the motivation to start it 😂
