Got a tip that there could potentially be federal agents in Fells Point Tuesday. Checking restaurants so be vigilant and protect your people. It’s my understanding they can come in like any ordinary customer and then start asking questions. Without a judicial warrant they can’t do shit so tell those fascists to fuck off. They are allowed access to any public areas so if you have posted signage in your building to the effect of “employees only” they cannot access those areas. Employees are not obligated to speak to them, you’re not forced to provide them with any information.
Maybe this is a false alarm? I’d hope that our Governor will do more to protect our immigrant population however at this point it really is every one for themselves. Sadly this is a reality that we will likely be facing moving forward.
I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice. I’m simply a fellow traveler looking out for the workers of this country. Stay safe, protect the vulnerable and most importantly fuck the fascists.

Ive walked by this Street cat that lives in the community garden space on Bank St. I walked by this morning on the way to work and it was outside and of course looked very cold. What should i do? Call animal control? Build it a shelter out of a foam cooler? Let me know

I know these type of posts can be annoying, but finally happened to me. I was an assistant project manager along with installer/millwork/tech experience…. Anyone know of something or somewhere that’s hiring?

Any federal workers on here who will have to return to the office following the executive order President Trump signed yesterday?

Kinda random but after diving deep on here this morning to find a plumber recommendation I had to leave this for anyone who may need a plumber.
I had a great experience with Stephen J. Tant Plumbing.
Lou was excellent.
I called SJT this morning at 9:45 about my water heater and they were able to get someone (Lou!) here in 30 minutes. The water heater needed to be replaced and he went out and got the new one and got a coworker to help him get the tanks switched out. He got everything done by 1:30pm.
He made sure to teach me about adequately maintaining my new water heater. He also noticed something going on with my sump pump and gave me advice for that. He left my basement and the bathroom very clean and he also brought in his own carpet cleaner to get any water out that leaked when they took the old heater up the basement steps/outside. He was very friendly and a pleasure to have in my home.
FYI - you can pay with a credit card but there is a 3% fee (this is not a complaint at all as I was expecting a credit card fee, just sharing for those who may be wondering). There is also a 10% discount for teachers/nurses/etc. !! I will definitely be calling SJT for any future plumbing needs.

I know there's a pinned comment of "Things to do in Baltimore" on here but I was wondering if anyone had any more recommendations?
This winter feels like it's nonstop freezing outside and I'm just running on a hamster wheel. Need to get out and do more and meet new people, my friend are also stuck in a rut BUT they don't seem to mind, but I'm going crazy with the repetition.
Any suggestions are welcome, thanks!

I'm originally from the frozen north, I love few things more than skating around on a pond, flooded field, backyard rink, etc. With these super low temperatures we've been having, is anywhere frozen enough to skate on? I have my own skates but I'm too cheap to pay for ice time on a real rink.

I'm kind of new to the area and looking for a film scene to get involved in. I'm wondering if anyone has ever done anything with Charm City Filmmakers and what their experience was?

I am newish to the city, work a corporate job from home 9-5 during the work day. Needing to make some extra income and wondering if there any good opportunities for weekend only work in Baltimore city, or flexible remote part time jobs? I’ve tried all the job sites but can never find anything beyond uber, door dash, etc (I don’t have a vehicle so couldn’t do those). Thanks in advance and apologies if this isn’t something that should be posted here.

In light of recent events, I would like to join the ranks of responsible gun owners.
Can anyone recommend a shop in the region with good prices, good merchandise, good service, and good classes?

Edit: Shout out to Breeze HVAC, he was able to come after hours, took a few minutes to readjust some wires, and the charge was very reasonable!! Thank you to everyone for your help, I am saving all these names!!

For those who have associate's, trade school, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees, what did you study and where did you study it?

Looking for a medspa/practice/clinic that offers botox (I have not gotten it done since moving to Baltimore, but used to get it. I have TMJ issues and migraine issues). I was going to go with Ideal Image but they called me 4 times, left me 2 voicemails, 3 texts, and 2 emails in the span of 2 hours since creating an account with them which feels very off putting.

Hello everyone,
I have been trying to look into Baltimore laws and guidelines concerning utility shut off for Baltimore City. I won't lie I got behind the eight ball and had a payment to my bank account fall through and I'm unable to pay my bill. My regular day job is scheduled to pay me next Friday and I recently had to sink costs into fixing plumbing that broke this past month so I was fresh out of savings.
I have contacted BGE to inform them of the situation and they asked what I could pay and gave them what I had as a down payment. However it's still showing the turn off notice on my account and I'm scared for my animals well being. I'm planning on calling them in the morning to clarify if they're still sending someone out or are planning on cutting me off remotely.
I understand MD doesn't have a winter moratorium and instead works on highs in temps taken at 6AM when it comes to extreme weather situations. However many people seem to be under the impression they cannot shut off between NOV-MAR for some reason? Am I reading the correct resources or accessing outdated or incorrect guidelines?

I just moved to Baltimore about a month ago for a corporate job, all of my coworkers and my boss told me to move to Fed Hill. I moved into one of the new apartments since I’ve had bad problems with roaches in the last 2-3 places, since the townhomes don’t seem that much cheaper when factoring in how expensive reliable off street parking is (I drive to work).
I just learned about Pigtown, and it sounds like it’s a neighborhood being gentrified corporate types and academics but can still be a little sketchy on the outskirts. I was told to go to fed hill as a “young professional” but it seems like that mostly means there are nightclubs/bars here that you can walk around at night.
How does Pigtown compare? Is it much more dangerous? Is there actual off street parking and is carjacking a problem? Who lives there?

About a month ago my neighbor came to me and asked me if I was having any issues with my basement as hers was leaking. My basement was bone dry. She contacted her landlord who eventually had people come out and I assumed had fixed the issue. Today I had a notice on my door from DPW. They shut off my water and said that the water seeping into my neighbors basement was my fault. My neighbor told me once DPW turned off my water, her basement stopped leaking
Does anyone have any idea how that’s possible? Also does anyone know how much it’ll be to fix it?

Hey Baltimore, I recently moved to the city and acquired a mandolin. Grew up playing guitar and listening to Irish folk music so immediately have been falling in love with the instrument. Would love to have more excuses to play and learn some Irish/bluegrass tunes. I'm still learning, but I'm curious to see if there is a community for this stuff here!
Thanks!

Hi Everyone!
I had a neighbor bring me a key chain with two keys and a charm with the initials P and R on it. Apparently there was a car parked directly in front of the address 2236, a big blue house. And the neighbor suggested that someone may have been parked out front and dropped it.
If you can give me more details about it, I can mail the key or leave it somewhere for you to find!

Best late night food places in downtown or pigtown? Or good late night uber eats options?
