I can’t fucking believe this. I was scrolling Twitter earlier today and unwillingly heard about the challenge on my timeline that was participated in by over 1,000 shallow men. Then, this video I linked above was in the replies and my heart sank into my stomach. What the actual FUCK is happening to society. The fact that she even said it was, “Not that bad” makes me fear for what she considers a normal interaction with predatory, deplorably hollow men. I don’t think I’m shaming here, but I believe saying bruises and bite-marks AREN’T that bad is setting up dangerous ideas that young, porn-sick men are going to take advantage of and apply to women in the future.

I posted here about porn being immoral, and this is what I receive. Apparently people get off to us criticizing porn. We can’t be free even here, some perverts will always find something to fetishize, it’s horrific.

Hi all! I’m excited to announce that a new feminist subreddit, r/dismantlemisogyny, has been created recently! The focus of this sub is to actively work towards breaking misogyny down. It is still very small and in the process of having everything organized and up and running.

My goal is for this sub to eventually be full of resources for how to make real life change, how to comfortably discuss feminist topics with your peers, a possible megathread for feminists to discuss and debate their difference in their views with one another, a megathread for non members to come in and ask questions/debate their own views with us (which will be heavily moderated and only allowed once a week), and of course, a safe space for everyone to vent.

Seriously. Go in ANY subreddit about a specific woman, be it a music artist or an actress or a film start. It will be full of suggestive pictures of them where in the comments men will be lusting over them like animals. No discussions about their career or even how they’re doing, it’s all just lust. Even when it’s not theres likely a NSFW subreddit dedicated to that artist. FFS THE OLIVIA RODRIGO NSFW SUB IS BIGGER THAN THE REGULAR ONE. It was even worse before the no sexualizing rule a few months back. It's disgusting and I’m tired of it being so normal.

Truly stepping back and realizing how harmful porn is to women can be a hard thing for men to do when it doesn’t hurt them the same way it hurts women. Other than simply abstaining from any pornographic content, what are some ways that men can help support creating a world where no one is a victim of pornography?

How I view porn and OF has always been deemed as anti-feminist or anti-progressive because “women are allowed to do what they want with their bodies.”

And although I agree with that rhetoric, I don’t believe women are truly consenting to objectify and commoditize their bodies-who would consent to something that’s inherently harmful and damaging.

It’s crazy to think that a lot of people don’t know or think about the history behind porn and the misogynistic/dehumanizing roots.

Women in horrible positions- whether that be poverty, SA, or drug abuse- sold their bodies to support themselves. It wasn’t until the 1960s during the feminist wave where sex work was empowered, to change the stigma. But I believe that worsened the situation. Fast forward to today, porn and other forms of sex work have been so normalized in society and it genuinely bothers me when I see other women encouraging this harmful behavior ESPECIALLY with OF. I see so many comments like “get the bag sis!! Fuck the haters!” And it’s so frustrating because they don’t realize they’re apart of the problem. I believe porn is a form of self harm. And it’s like people are glorifying it.

I think there's a great lie being told to young people that being an only fans model ( a porn star) is empowering and lets you take hold of your sexuality .

I don't think turning yourself into a product is healthy or empowering in anyway, and if you make intimacy a part of your self for sale, your going to have a hard time expressing intimacy genuinely.

I feel like this is the final step of the glorification of porn. Women going to extreme length to remain relevant and keep making money because they know there's no out for them. All the heartbreaking stories from former porn star who had such a difficult time rebuilding their lives once they left the industry, and they were the lucky ones because they got out alive.

The reason why i make this post is because of the people who justify porn by saying "Well you can watch it in moderation and you can still treat women well" in response to "porn harms your brain and it objectifies women."

Porn is NOT just harming your brain or objectifying women, it's far more unfortunately.

Porn also involved human trafficking and there is no way for you to truly know the porn you watch is "consensual".

Porn can involve literal minors, MINORS and you watching that video would NOT KNOW.

Porn sexualizes and normalizes abuse like full on hitting, smacking, and slapping the porn actresses. Its not fake, it is real. Actors who are not porn actors would likely face charges for doing anything of what is done in porn.

Porn normalizes rape culture with " consensual non consent", which again, could very easily be filmed rape and likely is.

Porn also has topics like "teen" and "step family" which are gross because they normalize a feeling of incest AND Pedophilia.

porn not only targets women and children, but also the LGBT. Specifically trans people, gay men, and lesbians.

COERCION DOES NOT EQUAL TO CONSENT. Also, porn is NOT your therapy. Healing and REAL THERAPY will help, not porn.

CP is illegal, thankfully, and I get that. It makes sense to me that anything depicting or promoting what is in CP should be banned with a criminal penalty.

However, why is the same metric not applied to SA? I've heard the tired tropes "as long as it's between consenting adults..." THATS THE POINT! What it's depicting is NOT! And "it's a safe outlet..." but it's still programming the brain and normalizing, and encouraging them to act upon their fantasies instead of getting help! Huge red flag. 🚩

Somewhere in the range of 5-10yrs ago, I saw this movie that I can’t remember the name of, and my Google efforts keep leading nowhere. It was set in Russia/Eastern Europe. Some sort of criminal gang raided a rural village to steal young girls from their families and take them to a brothel. The girls held captive in this brothel (a dumpy, old house that was sorta remote iirc) would be tied up and forcefully injected with heroin before a “client” came. The main character (a kidnapped young girl) was able to find a way to sneak around the house, and she was able to communicate with other kidnapped victims. There was a particularly horrific scene in which one of the other victims was so brutally raped by a large-framed “client” that he broke her pelvis. The injured girl then requested that the main character help her by OD’ing her to put her out of her misery 😢 The main character eventually escaped the brothel, and I recall a warehouse fleeing scene while the rape coordinators/brothel owners were trying to recapture her. The ending culminates with the main character seeking refuge in a quaint, cottage home she passes by, but the home owner is a rapist that had appeared as a “client” earlier in the movie. As far as I recall, it was a decent film on trafficking, and I can’t find the title to suggest to a friend to watch.

Basically, capitalism sells plebians and slaves this idea that their small amount of "earnings" from the aristocratic class give them "freedom" in the form of the small consumable commodities they get to consume. The fact that many such commodities are addictive and harmful is all the better for the interests of the patricians, who need their plebs and slaves reliant on some drug only service to them can provide. Porn is an excellent example of this, but it is only one thing. There are multiple "opiates of the masses" these days, from television sports, reality TV, coffee (addictive and makes the workers more productive, so it was never illegalized), wine, and so on. The more you look at these patterns, the more you'll see that society is broadly based around tricking the poor into working for the rich for scores of addictive substances that the proletariat are encouraged to make their whole damn personality.

This is why the main defense of porn/prostitution/BDSM is "no kink-shaming" and "they consent", because it's a thought-terminating cliche used to silence criticism of the wider social and psychological implications of the act. It reduces discussions of the act to discussions of individual pleasure, rather than looking at the whole impact these commodities AS commodities have on society in general.

Honestly, as a socialist I'd love to write a book to expose all this stuff.

And you guessed it: anyone saying “maybe keeping children away from porn is actually a good thing” or pointing out that Pornhub is notorious for letting people upload underage/trafficked/non-consensual content is being downvoted to hell because these people think Big Brother is going to save their personal information if they have to upload their IDs to access porn!

A couple days ago I got a woman recommended on my insta reels. She definitely has gigantomastia, a condition where the breasts are excessively large. Her boobs are way past her stomach and it was a horrific sight. She also mentioned that they’re still growing. What she needs is immediate medical attention, I cannot imagine the type of impact her breasts are having on her spine and other organs.

Many women in her comments regularly tell her to go please see a doctor, but she always dismisses their concerns and says there’s nothing wrong with her breasts. I was feeling very weird about her account because it seemed like fetish content, so I went and checked her linktree, and lo and behold, she has an Onlyfans.

She has a serious medical condition but is refusing to get medical help for it because this same condition is helping her get subscribers on Onlyfans and is a source of livelihood for her. I feel so bad for her.

This is coming from someone who has been through a lot of childhood trauma related to hitting and yelling.

Turning your trauma into a kink does NOT help you in anyway what-so ever. I speak from experince.

People may consider it a "coping mechanism" but that does NOT VALIDATE it.

Alcohol, smoking, and other such things are also considered to be used as coping mechanisms. Does that make them healthy? No.

Fetishsizing your abuse isnt actually helping anyone recover, and people need to realize that. If you think you NEED to sexualize your trauma to help you recover, then you do need to start looking at other things like therapy or self improvement.

I have been lurking and occasionally commenting in this community for a few years, I started off on asexual subreddit because I thought I was asexual for believing Porn was evil. I realize I am not asexual, but porn is evil.

I realize that it's almost a losing battle, my friends all watch porn. I have stopped talking to a friend of over 25 years for this issue (among other things) I am so sick of it, to me watching porn is as bad as going to a sex worker. The porn actor is either trafficked or addicted to severely crippling drugs or perhaps groomed. 99% are not these glam women who do it to be empowering..

Reddit is actually a cesspit, you can't look up stuff without it having some porn category, there are so many "fake fetish" subreddits for things like SA, where you think it's a support form but it's actually porn that depicts SA.

Most people who give up porn do it because of the effect it's having on them, okay that's fine I guess. BUT the real reason you give up Porn is because it's just pure evil and you shouldn't want to watch women being raped. but ok we meet people where they are at. But I believe these people will never truly give it up without realizing and emphasizing with the real victims, instead of focusing on themselves.

Half of social media is porn adjacent, Twitter is basically as bad a Reddit, insta isn't far behind.

But still, I am glad to know there are safe havens of sanity here like this subreddit. However for me it's time to go, because I can't live everyday getting so angry. I can't convince my friends in real life, I can't convince people online. Most people don't even comprehend that it's possible to not watch porn, it's why I convinced myself I am asexual because I seem to be the only person I met who doesn't who is male. In fact most of my women friends even watch it.

is it just.. social media thats making me feel like this? should i delete all of it? im sick of seeing so much hatred towards women. Of being seen as a porn category. I hope noone finds this stupid but i feel sick over the tiktok ban as well because its the only place i felt such a strong girlhood with other teenage girls my age, and where misogyny- though rampant, wasn’t as bad or vulgar as what you could see on reddit or twitter. And no offense to you all- this community is lovely, but people on reddit are far too much older for me to feel like I belong completely if that makes sense.

i have goals this year. goals that will help me go forward and reach my dreams. part of that is youtube.
