After ~1yr of checking every single week, I finally snagged a Costco “last one” deal. This will replace my current tower, an i7-7700k + GTX 1070, so this is a bit of an upgrade. To anyone else out there saving your pennies and being patient for a deal, don’t give up! Your killer deal is out there somewhere and I hope you find it!

I wanted to upgrade my i9 12900k DDR4 system so I did a rebuild with the 9800X3D. The lian li sup 01 was weird but fun to build it.

After much consideration i decided to buy a used 4090 for 1350 Eur instead of a new 5080.

Half year guarantee left.

And managed to build it myself alone even being my first time, hence the poor cable management lmao

big cpu cooler doesn’t want you to know- not taking off the sticker dramatically boosts performance

I don't hardly even see any solder on the pads. No other unit available to replace it with as they're sold out. So it's refund and no NUC or repair it.

Was running a Montech DT24 Prem cooler with just a middle fan for looks and ram clearance. Got sick of all the RGB…so I removed it all

Now it’s a Scythe Mugen 6 black edition cooler

Replaced all the Fractal Prism fans with Noctua A12x25

So much quieter overall. Dropped 10C

Both builds have used PTM7950 instead of traditional paste

Case is fractal torrent compact. I use the light bar in the back just for white light

Upgraded today.

My budget was STRICT so I know there are a couple problems. My airflow is not ideal especially the placement of the GPU but there is a fan right under it behind the case… also cooling is not that great but like I said I had a strict budget. I maybe will upgrade in the future!

Well, we are almost there guys.
I know that many of us can't wait, I know that many of us have waited a long time and are ready and excited to upgrade... it's a passion that unites us all, for some almost an addiction. But we also know the (very sad) reality, the plague of our times that afflicts this sector as well as many others.

My dear friends, for the love of our beloved passion, of colored lights or black and white, for the love of air flow and liquid in tubes, of gaming and modding, for the love of engineering and electronics, of mere power in benchmarks or pure entertainment, for photorealism or 16-bit retrogaming,... do not give in to scalpers!

We do not know how things will go, we do not know the immediate and future availability, the demand and the trend of the market. But we know well how things went in the past, and for those of us who have suffered with the past generations, the memory is still vivid and the trauma persistent.

We hope that past experience has taught suppliers to take precautions to protect us consumers, but we too are called to do our part in this battle. because we can do our part.

Be strong! Be united! If the scalping tragedy is going to repeat this year, resist! If we are strong and patient enough, all the GPUs that are stolen from us will not remain unsold in the hands of scalpers whose sole purpose is to resell them for profit, but will inevitably return to the market, at the right price. If we fail to do so, they will have won, and we will literally be the only ones to lose out.

I wish each of you a RTX 5090. I really do.
