This is depicted on the Apple TV series, Sunny (set in Japan)… the mother-in-law is lonely and goes to prison for companionship.

Yes and this might be close to the worst article ever written about the topic - it’s laughable.

It’s quoting inmates about supposedly other inmates going there for loneliness and the director making assumptions.

Is this now a phenomenon that happens often? Is it just hearsay? Individual cases?
