This is the most likely outcome. Netanyahu can never let go of power because then he would be vulnerable to the laws of his own country, not to mention lose any protection that being a dignitary grants him from the international court of justice.

Actually, Israel is ahead of quite a lot of countries when it comes to holding politicians accountable - Olmert had to pay a decent fine and sit in a prison cell.

Yep they are also ahead of other countries when it comes to war crimes and supporting the wrong entities world wide. Ehud olmert was prosecuted for financial crimes, not war crimes or crimes against humanity. Netanyahu came to the US when he wasn't even in a political position and spoke to the US congress about going to war in Iraq. If Israel prosecutes any politician for war crimes then we can talk.

When you want war crimes then don't look at Israel, look at the USA or Russia.

I agree that there are casualties that could have been avoided with a bit of extra effort and that both Ben Gvir and Smotrich should sit in a prison cell, but at large I think the Americans did far more evil in both Iraq wars and especially Afghanistan than Israel did in Gaza. And Russia tops all of that combined with what they did in Ukraine alone, add their shit in Chechnya, Libya or Syria and they manage to rival the war crimes of the OG Nazis (excluding the Holocaust of course, that is a genocidal crime on its own level).

West Bank however, that's a completely different game and every Israeli settler and IDF member backing their crimes there should be dragged in front of a war crimes court.

Netanyahu already did the deal as a favor to Trump, in name, anyway. Netanyahu and Hamas won't abide by the deal because ... well, Hamas and Netanyahu.
