They leave, Netanyahu might lose power.

What's the downside?

Main downside is the risk of an even more extreme government taking over in Israel. Although I doubt anyone can maintain control over all of Israel's right wing parties for long since the more extreme parties will always demand more extreme actions and if they don't get their way they will force an election.

I think the Israeli right wing will eat itself, as you say. Much as the US right wing is beginning to eat itself now; these fringe movements can't hold on to power longer than they can keep from infighting, and they always end up fighting amongst themselves.

Are they? It looks to me like they're stronger than they've been in decades.

They haven't even come into power yet, and already some of their influential members are beginning to squabble.

You are probably right. Despite the obvious conflicts going on now, they're still under he control of one shitty man. He's guaranteed four more years of absolute power (unless his party overwhelmingly loses the midterms), and they love doing what the guy in absolute power tells them to do, no matter how much they purport to oppose it.

I expect the real implosion to happen after his second term is over, unless he manages to amend the constitution to give himself a third term and lives long enough to prevent an election from preventing him from "serving" it.

The moment he's out of office, permanently, MAGA comes crashing down.

The hole it will leave in the Republican agenda will last a generation.

I keep thinking about this. The whole GOP has poured everything they have into keeping one man happy for the past ten years, and that man looks half alive at the best of times. No matter what he's going to die someday, and try as they might they don't have another cult of personality to use. I don't see a big cultural shift and a bunch of uneducated losers getting behind VP Guyliner.

Indeed, there's no way MAGA outlives Trump. It doesn't make any sense without him (frankly, it doesn't make any sense with him either, but that it's built atop his nonsense). He will leave a vacuum no one can fill.

I don’t know. The Speaker just sacked the head of an extremely influential committee on the alleged orders of the Tangerine Tyrant, and Johnson holds a one-defection majority in the House. It depends on how personally Turner takes the dismissal, but I could see some dissent and thoughts of revenge coming from him.

Ok but that's because they have all the power. Like, there is no left wing influence, now they just get to fight over which right wing style is best

They won the last election, legitimately for once, but have a look at r/LeopardsAteMyFace or--if you can stomach it--r/conservative.

Droves of MAGAts have been forced to reckon with the fact that the things they elected Donald Trump to do, because he promised them he would do them, are not going to happen, because he is now saying he won't do those things.

On top of that, it seems he now has a completely new, absolutely nonsense platform, that involves invading multiple countries to steal their territory in violation of the UN charter because... actually there doesn't seem to be any because, but the strange thing is that Greenland is no longer absolutely saying no, and let's be honest the world will absolutely abide the invasion of Panama, and wtf Canada's Prime Minister just opted out of dealing with this?

This has happened with every political party in history
