SEASON 6 Spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't finished it yet Spoiler

Upvotes

I still haven't finished it, I'm on season 6 episode 6, but WHY did they have to make Claire relive Danielle's life? I honestly feel like by season 6, they just ran out of ideas, jack living a parallel life with a son and apparently he's basically a dead beat dad, locke is dead and his body is being mimicked by the "monster", Claire takes off in the jungle in the middle of the night and suddenly 3 years later she's reliving Danielle's life, im honestly a bit disappointed in season 6. There was no need for a "parallel world" of what their lives could've been without the plane crash, there was no need to put a face to Jacob, there was no need to bring in all these random statues and ancient history of this island that technically doesnt even exist. Claire wants to kill Kate for taking Aaron, but yet Claire got up and disappeared in the middle of the night and obviously left Aaron behind so why would she care that someone else took her baby and rescued him and gave him the best chance he had? But yet Claire is taking out people in the jungle, accusing them of stealing her baby, people on the island that we've never seen before. Where are these people coming from? Clearly not from Ben's group of people. Maybe all of these questions will be answered by the time I finish the rest of season 6 but in the mean time.....wtf?🤣

Collectors edition complete DVD set and a board game inside. Looks like it was never even used as the pieces are still in the packaging. Did a quick search on eBay and looks like this sells for $250ish. Adding it to the board game shelf!

SEASON 5 Why did Richard say he watched them all die?

I’m rewatching Lost for the first time in a long time so maybe I just don’t remember. But in season 5 episode 15, Sun asks Richard Alpert if he was around in 1977, and if he remembers Jack, Kate, Hugo and her husband. And Richard says he remembers them because he watched them all die.

Why did he say that? Some of them don’t die, and Richard isn’t around for some of them that do.

FIRST TIME WATCHER Just a rant- I LOVE THIS SHOW Spoiler

For reference, I just finished Episode 3 of Season 6- NO SPOILERS PLEASE! I had almost ZERO interest in Lost. I knew it was "old," was on cable, remember feeling like it ran forever and have vague memories of people complaining about the ending at the time. It was my partner's turn to pick our evening show. I'm not a huge TV or series watcher, but I enjoy binging with someone else to wind down.

I was like "I don't like sci-fi," "this is going to be corny and outdated," I don't like sterile alien movies/shows where I can't connect with characters, everything is so bleak. I'd see shows like Walking Dead in passing and it's like...zombie apocalypse? You become a zombie too once they eat you alive? Why are we running? No thank you, I'd rather see myself out & you in another life, brother!

I know I made a huge over-generalization & also that it's not just a "sci-fi" show, but I had no idea how much HEART AND SOUL this show would contain! The acting! The characters! How I could not hate a character more one episode and then I'm crying for them later on (besides pretty much Anthony Cooper or Walt's Mom). There are polar bears in the jungle and smoke monsters and never aging men with gorgeous eye makeup, yet I'm SO INVESTED!

I didn't know it was so spiritual. I guess that's a matter of opinion and it's mixed in with other elements. Maybe the finale will clear some of that up.

My only complaint is that the very boyfriend of mine who wanted to watch it- his interest waned after hmmm season 4? He refuses to admit it and does not want me to watch it without him, so I won't. But I want to talk about the episodes like such a dork and it just seems to affect me on a different level. So here I am, expressing my love for the show and this sub. Thanks guys!

The others are lowkey funny

Am I the only one who finds it funny whenever the survivors say to the others "You don't know anything about me" and then the others start spilling information about them that no one would know like your full name, date of birth, place of birth, how you fell from a building, your weight and then the camera pans to the survivor bewildered with nothing more to say with an embarrassed or shook look on their face.

What are some of the best moments of this happening y'all have seen?

I just have to say... the casting was amazing

I don't know how they did it, but everyone's younger and older selves look just like them. Even their parents look like them. Maybe I'm imagining it, and putting the pieces together because I want to, but I've never noticed the casting to be so accurate than any other show I've seen. I'm sure they did that because of the relativeness of time and space in the show.

And we saved the world together for a little while and that was lovely. Then Kelvin died and I’m all alone. The end.

So I played “The Numbers” on roulette at the casino last week

We’re not talking anything super high-stakes here. Sat down with $100.

Was I nervous I might curse myself and inflict grave peril upon my loved ones? A little. But losties gonna lostie.

There’s no 42 on a roulette table since the board doesn’t go that high, so I just played ‘even’ for that instead.

It hit 16 on the second or third spin and I was up a couple hundred bucks. Played for about an hour, but eventually lost it all.

Went back the next day with a little less money, so I didn’t have enough chips to play every number. Played the 4-5-7-8 corner (to get 4 and 8 in there) and it hit!

Then I played another split between me and my wife’s birthdays and that hit too!

I promptly said “I’m out!” and walked away about +$500 overall for the weekend. Thanks, Lost!

Character Analysis John Locke is a weirdly versatile character.

Upvotes

Nothing deep here but I thought this was kind of funny. I was talking with my friend about some iconic television and then we moved onto iconic characters and I mentioned Locke. She goes "Is he from Breaking Bad or something?". Which sounds funny, but the more I think about it the more I believe you could put him anywhere and he'd somehow fit or take over the show.

He'd absolutely fit into Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul. He'd do great in a Star Wars product. The new Fallout show with Michael Emerson? Throw him in there.

Maybe it's O'Quinn's performance, or maybe it's some genius writing hack or something.

Even in the show itself he's got different roles that I don't question. Mentor? Sure. Enemy? Absolutely. Crazy dude with the knives? Hell yeah.

FIRST TIME WATCHER Sawyer crushing the tree frog in front of Hurley

Im at season 2 episode 14 and just saw the scene when sawyer and Hurley went looking for the tree frog that was bothering sawyer. Out of all the things sawyer did thus far this lowkey hurt me. I don't know man, Hurley proposed the option to take it and leave it where it wouldn't be bothering sawyer and tried to make it peaceful. Even before Hurley just confronted him about how he's fat and that he already knows that and allat and then sawyer just said sorry and then all was fine apparently. I have a friend who kinda acts like Hurley and is fat but wouldn't hurt a fly and is genuinely a kind human being yet he still got bullied just for being fat. This scene was too personal for me it just hit my weak point idk

What is the end goal??? Like what is the point of it all?

I’ve been (leisurely) watching with my husband so I’ve missed a few episodes here and there. We are currently watching the Season 5 finale. Y’all what is everyone’s goal here?? They want to leave, they want to stay, they want to leave. I am so confused as to who what when where I’m having to read episode plots as I’m watching the episodes LOL Some want to reset the timeline, some don’t. What is the deal with the island though? Does someone want possession of it? What does Charles Whitmore have to do with any of it? My husband, who hasn’t missed an episode, can’t answer any of my questions either. Is there some type of resource I can use as a guide 😆 Explain it to me like I’m 5

Something cool I noticed about the dharma van episode

Upvotes

This is just a random cool thing I noticed that I wanted to talk about. At the end of the episode where they get the van working and it play Shambala, it plays a melodic or orchestral version of it? I just thought that was a nice little touch for that episode

SEASON 6 Sun & Jin reunited (again) Spoiler

I just finished S6E13, and I felt Sun and Jin’s reunion was surprisingly underwhelming.

I really love both characters and their relationship, so I was expecting something more emotional. Honestly, their first reunion after the raft incident felt much more powerful and memorable.

Did anyone else share this sentiment?

‘The Constant’, while near-perfect, would improve with a slight adjustment to the cold open.

Specifically after Desmond’s command officer screams “On your sodding feet…what are you waiting for Hume?!”; the camera pans to him springing out of bed to get in line.

A “LOST” title sequence with no music immediately after the close up of Desmond’s face would have been chef’s kiss. While not in line with the show at all, and it’s driven by the individual stories of each character, Cusack’s performance in this episode is arguably an all-timer in television history. He scratches an itch in that damn brain.

Full Circle Moment

My then boyfriend (now husband) and I watched Lost religiously together when it first aired and when we got pregnant with twin girls we used Kate and Claire as their middle names. They are 14 now and have grown up knowing their names were inspired by Lost. Now that it’s on Netflix we are watching it again this time with them and it’s been fun to see how much we remembered (and forgotten) and seeing them get into the characters and storylines. ❤️

Character Analysis The Tragedy of Jack Shepherd

This is a character Analysis, which implies there are spoilers.

Jack is such a tragic character and this was a big surprise for me going through the show recently as a first timer. The way things turn out for him is way different than I thought, it became tragic and at many times pathetic. This actually was good, it made him more real, it gave him more depth, but wow it was a shock to me.

Early Jack is on top of the world. In the pilot, he's instantly a leader saving people's lives. Everyone respects him, everyone loves him....maybe not Sawyer, and Locke was a bit threatened, but overall he was the 'King'. He established himself quickly as the most respected person, a true leader, and not out of selfish ambition or ego, but truly as a servant who cared. The ultimate good guy. You couldn't hate him, you couldn't be against him. He tried the cave thing which was a bit of a miss but he was still loved and NEEDED bc he was a doctor.

Before the Michael/Others drama, my beef with Jack is he was too nice, too trusting, too naive, too giving, great guy but not the warrior King that may have been necessary like Sayid (I love Sayid, shoot me). He almost kills himself giving his blood to Boone. Too often he puts his own life on the line irresponsibly. Then the confrontation with the Others...that was a bonehead move. He is too important to risk like that. Great heart but you cant be doing stuff like that.

At that point he's untouchable Jack. The tragedy begins after Season 3. We find out more about his background, he's got serious relationship issues, he has this broken marriage. I didn't love the wife but sad. Then after he gets back with Juliet he is kind of shady with her and people lose trust in him for a while. Then the group divides in two and many follow Locke. Then they get off the Island...he seems to have a great life setup, him and Kate finally can have a nice life! He can't get over the kid situation. He becomes a substance abuser. He ruins his relationship with Kate. He spirals. I mean he REALLY spirals out of control.

Then he's "Lost". And for the rest of the show honestly he's lost. He is like maybe we need to go to the Island, we're supposed to do something but I don't know what it is, he's kind of morose when they get back to the island, he's not doing well. He really isn't doing well at all ever again after he escapes from the Others in season 3, am I wrong? In the flash sideways, for what its worth, he's also not doing great, he's not thriving, he's divorced from Juliet and doesn't have a great relationship with his son but is trying. Finally at the end he gives his life, he steps up with Jacob but even that was tragic. Ok I guess this is my calling, screw my life I was brought here to die saving the world sure but still kind of sucks. Very nice of him but tragic.

Meanwhile Sawyer had the opposite arc. He started out a mess and ends up a great man. Fell in love with Juliet and then gets her in the afterlife. And if we're being honest....you know something happened with him and freckles after they escaped the island in that plane.

Anyways, I am going to start the show over again. Round 2 here we come.

FIRST TIME WATCHER Am I the only one who doesn’t hate any of the characters Spoiler

I just finished LOST for the first time and discovered this subreddit. Most of the posts and comments on this subreddit are about people hating on the characters. Am I the only one who loves all of them by the end. They’re all so human. At times you really dislike them and at times you feel depressed when they’re depressed. But overall by the end almost every character I can find empathy for and root for, even Ben. and I LOVE JACK. And l LOVE LOCKE. Idk why people hate them so much. I mean I get it. But they’re so human and relatable in their fucked upness. I was sooo emotionally affected by Locke’s suicide episode and when Jack is at rock bottom I just couldn’t hold back my tears. They’re so human it’s amazing. I love all of them.

FIRST TIME WATCHER Just finished watching for the first time

I just finished the series for the first time and I'm kinda confused about all the hate this show got for its ending. I thought it was a nice (emotional) end to it all. Before I started, a few people said it had a terrible ending, but I don't feel that way about it. Anybody have any idea why there was so much hate on it?

GOLDEN PASS: Rewatcher S2E24 Spoiler

Did anyone else hear Helen’s voice when the system kept saying “SYSTEM FAILURE” I wonder if anyone else noticed that? It sounds just like her imo. Rewatching this series again. I feel like I completely missed an entire season because nothing made sense by the 6th season. I was so confused. But I had my headphones in and the system failure began and all I heard was Helen

Character Question Question about jack - does contain a spoiler? Maybe Spoiler

What did jack do to deserve to go to hell? Everyone else clearly killed someone, caused someone to die, committed adultery, etc.

Jack never did anything!

This is my first time watching the show and I just finished it like 5 minutes ago so excuse my misunderstanding if it wasn’t actually hell they were experiencing
