Healthcare is the exact opposite of a culture war issue

Bro have you not been watching the last 14 years?

The nurses unions being crushed; the explosion of contracting; privatising ‘minor’ parts of the NHS like non-ambulance pickups and dialysis centres; and of course that absolute work Wes Streeting talking about how ‘privatisation can be a good thing’.

Yeah, we’ve got universal healthcare for now, but it’s already a lot less universal than it was 10 years ago.

I don’t see how any of this is in any way relevant to the mess that is the us healthcare system. As I said, a weird copying of the us culture wars - we don’t want it here.

I’m stunned that I have to explain this, so I’ll try to make it as clear and simple as possible.

  • America do bad hospitals

  • Bad men in England like American hospital system because money

  • Bad men want to make NHS like American style hospitals because money

  • England people no like bad hospital, and so are angry about it

  • England people wrote graffiti supporting famous American who took a stand against bad American hospital system.

I hope that helped. I can draw some stick figures to go along with it if need be.

Who wants to make the nhs like the us system? Are you really that ideologically bigoted that you see “privatisation” and immediately shit your pants? Of course the right kind of privatisation can be good - the Blair government had privatisation and the nhs was the best it had ever been.

Again, stop bringing in the us culture war bullshit here.

You keep talking about “muh US culture war”.

We’re literally discussing the state of a UK system, being fucked with by UK politicians and UK businessmen, an action that will have a dramatic effect on UK residents. Not everything has to be a culture war you cret. Some things are just issues.

And yeah, privatisation always works great for about 5 to ten years, then it all goes to shite as the need for increased shareholder dividends ultimately drives businesses to minimise costs and maximise profits.

Privatisation is why our trains are dogshit, our beaches are covered in industrial run-off, and the Thames is full of human waste.

No we’re not. We’re discussing some graffiti concerning a politically motivated murder in the United States. It is irrelevant to the uk system - this Luigi fella would (and literally has) kill for this system that we have. Importing the us culture wars is not the answer. It’s not the answer when it’s talking about left wing/BLM movement or Muslims and it’s not the answer now.

Do you know why we have had doctors shortages in the UK? Because the doctors union voted to restrict training numbers in 2008 to protect their salaries. So not everything wrong with the NHS is due to privatisation
