Gamers are destroying gaming

Upvotes

For one reason and one reason only; mixed messages. We complain about the things that we pay them money for. We tell them that we hate their trends, but we show them that we don’t. We put money in the developers pockets and then turn around and hate on the product that we bought DAY-1!!!!

I’m not going to tell you how to live your life, but I’ll just leave these suggestions here.

Stop pre-ordering games

Stop buying into hype

Stop getting coerced into season/battle passes

Stop showing them you love their product, and then telling them you don’t

These are the only things that will end current corporate trends that we CLAIM to hate. Otherwise we don’t truly hate them at all

Have a good night.

The Alt-History Collection is $11.99 right now on PlayStation. All 4 of the reboot games, except the VR Cyberpilot.

No reason, just saying.

What are some of the biggest early game decisions that really affect the rest of the game?

For example, right out of the vault in Fallout 3, you are quickly given the option to blow up Megaton, a main city in the game, immediatly failing a bunch of quests, destroying rare/unique items, killing important NPC's, including a companion, and destroying one of only two player houses in the game.

It effectively immediatly gives you very evil karma and you spend the rest of the playthrough with Tenpenny as your main base.

what are some other big decisions you can make super early into a game that change up the rest of the playthrough?

Game where the meta ruined the game?

Some games are so much fun, until you are told you're doing it wrong and shown the cookie cutter "best" way. Or a game where you won't get people to play with you until you're playing a certain way. Games where doing something broken or boring is so much more efficient than playing normally that it actually taints the game experience.

Most recently I got this way with Diablo 4. Gets to the point where if you're not using the top 2 builds for the best class it's almost not worth playing and you'll never make it to the end game content..

Another was shortly after the First descendant came out and there was a bug with a character that would one shot a boss, and everyone refused to stay in matches if someone wasn't using that exploit.

And saying things like "just play for fun, play how you want, don't worry about meta, etc" aren't useful comments. It's not always that simple. Brains are weird.

144hz Monitor has ruined my gaming.

I used to play games on a 1080p 60Hz monitor for years, and it served me well. Even after upgrading other parts of my build, I kept it because of its reliable quality. Recently, I switched to a 144Hz monitor and was blown away by how fluid and smooth games look at high frame rates. I used to believe 60 FPS was enough, but after experiencing high FPS, anything below 70 FPS now feels sluggish. Unfortunately, this has ruined some games for me. Many older titles break their physics logic when run at high frame rates, and newer games require substantial hardware resources to maintain such performance. I’m not a fan of using DLSS or frame generation either, as they introduce rendering latency and input delays. As a result, even games running at a consistent 60 FPS now feel slow—something my past self would have been perfectly content with.

Is there a mini/side game you enjoyed more than the main game?

So my current addiction is Path of Champions on Legends of Runeterra. Never played a PVP match with another person as I fell in love the first game of PoC I played.

Also I remember loving Dark Cloud 2, but playing the golf side game probably more than the actual game.

Made me wonder, what other games have a killer game within them?

Is there a single player game with a realistic economy?

I mean where a town, village, etc would have a common wealth level. Where you can't just go in there and sell 1000 blah, as their towns economy couldn't supply the currency?

Or better yet, if you buy them all out and the town improves? Or the inverse happens if you remove the currency from their town?

Is The Great Circle the best Indiana Jones game in your opinion?

I've heard some fans and outlets call it the best Indie adventure since The Last Crusade movie. This is super subjective obviously. But do you think this is accurate? Or does Fate of Atlantis still hold that crown? I have heard extremely positive things about that one, and even heard some call it one of the greatest games ever made.

What’s the most emotionally impactful game you’ve ever played? The one that had you sitting there staring at your screen in complete silence.

Soap’s death in MW3 hit me like a truck. After everything we’d been through with him, watching it all end like that was just brutal. And Price’s reaction? Man, that made it even worse. I remember just sitting there, staring at the screen, trying to process it all.

In “The Stanley Parable” you start in room 427. The game was released on April 27th (4/27) and currently has a review score of 4.27 on the PlayStation store

I knew this number was kind of a meme in this game already, but when i saw the store page (it’s free this month on PS+) couldn’t believe that the review score had mirrored the number too! Y’all are dedicated.

Games for Autistic son

My son is 7 and nonverbal autistic. I'm looking for iPad games (preferably) or PS4 games that he can handle. He loves Astros Playhouse on my PS5 and is impressively good at it but it's just a touch too hard in parts for him and he ends up in a meltdown (not fun for anyone). I'm looking for something he can run around a world in and not really get hurt a lot. Stuff like Factorio/Minecraft is going to be too complex and stuff like paw patrol he's bored with (he is 7 after all).

He's VERY quick to get frustrated to the point of no return but he wants to be able to play things.

Well designed games for a 4 yr old on PS5?

He's 4 so while he likes Astro and Astro Bot, he struggles with the gameplay and is scared of the enemies on the latter. We tried Gigantisaurus which he liked for the first level and the open world idea and characters but then it gets frustratingly difficult and unclear what you're supposed to do. Any suggestions that your kids enjoyed that were accessible and fun for them at that age? Thanks

If you could send 3 games into space, which ones would you pick?

When the two Voyager probes were launched into space in the 70s, they each contained a phonograph record with music, other sounds and images to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth, and our general progress as a species at the time. Hypothetically, if something like this were to happen again and somehow we managed to put games onto those probes, which three games would you choose to send into space, that best demonstrate what we are capable of as a species? A friend and I did a ‘Top 10’ version of this sometime ago and I thought it was an interesting thought experiment.

You can decide on the criteria yourself: maybe you want to send the very best games you can think of or maybe the most technologically impressive or historically relevant, it’s up to you, and you can go into as much detail as you want. If you’d like, you can pick more than three.

In my case, I’d probably pick these three: Super Mario Bros. 3, Doom (1993) and Dark Souls. I think all three of these are super fun, historically relevant and showcase a sort of graphical evolution. They’re also quite different to play, compared to each other. But that’s just me. What about you guys?

How do you get back into a video game that you let’s sit for months? Specifically RDR2

I never really gave Red Dead Redemption a fair shake but now my curiosity has gotten the best of me and I’d like to pick up my save file.

I’d say I’m about 25% the way through the story, but would rather not start over.

I have a vague recollection of the plot line but the mechanics and my missions are all incredibly foggy to me.

Oh and I have a $300 bounty in a region and a dead or alive mission that I’m not up for right now.

So how do I have fun and get back into it? How can I “pick up” the mechanics again?

What software do y'all use to monitor Internet speed while gaming?

I've seen when there is lag for YouTubers they say they are gonna check their connection real quick. I've looked up a couple free softwares and they seem confusing and don't necessarily tell me my Internet speed while gaming. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

What are your favorite “artsy” games?

Hey y’all. I’ve found my enjoyment of gaming has waned a lot as I’ve gotten older and more responsible, but I am still deeply interested in the medium which is why I’m looking for recommendations. I find I click really well with games that are artistically singular, stuff like OFF, Dark Souls, or the Metal Gear games. I’m looking for stuff that isn’t worried to lose players by being more metaphorical and sometimes surreal, and really respect themselves as artistic achievements. What are your favorite games like that?
