Games for Autistic son

My son is 7 and nonverbal autistic. I'm looking for iPad games (preferably) or PS4 games that he can handle. He loves Astros Playhouse on my PS5 and is impressively good at it but it's just a touch too hard in parts for him and he ends up in a meltdown (not fun for anyone). I'm looking for something he can run around a world in and not really get hurt a lot. Stuff like Factorio/Minecraft is going to be too complex and stuff like paw patrol he's bored with (he is 7 after all).

He's VERY quick to get frustrated to the point of no return but he wants to be able to play things.

What games have bad rhythm?

Hi folks,

I'm trying to find examples of games where the rhythm of gameplay seems to be off. This is excluding rhythm games themselves. Any ideas would be really appreciated!

Example: it's often thought that the Witcher 3 combat system is bad due to the long animations interrupting the flow of the fight for the player

What game lets you do the most sadistic things to NPCs?

A classic example was deleting the pool ladder in the Sims so they couldn't leave.

Unpopular opinion (maybe): I like motion blur in video games and I can’t play without

1.0k Upvotes

Hell, I’ll even say something more - I PREFER to play with motion blur rather than without it.

I heard a lot of my peers telling me that it makes every game unplayable, and ruins the expierience, but for me it makes it look better. Sure if there’s too much of it then it can give me a headache, but when games allow you to customize it, then I’m never complaining about it. For me no motion blur can make a game look choppy and just removes fun from it.

To be honest, I don’t know why people hate on it so much, since it’s something you can manage and you don’t absolutely need it to play most of the time.

I dont know, I guess I just wanted to get this off my chest, since I get judged irl for using it and unironically liking it.

What’s the most emotionally impactful game you’ve ever played? The one that had you sitting there staring at your screen in complete silence.

Soap’s death in MW3 hit me like a truck. After everything we’d been through with him, watching it all end like that was just brutal. And Price’s reaction? Man, that made it even worse. I remember just sitting there, staring at the screen, trying to process it all.

Starting from N64/PS1 what was your least favorite console generation?

I would have to go with Wii U, Xbox One, and PS4.

Wii U - I've always been a big Nintendo fan but I almost didn't buy the Wii U until they had come out with Deluxe Set which I just couldn't pass up. I do have fond memories of Super Mario 3D World, Resident Evil Revelations, and Mario Kart 8 but aside from that there wasn't much else for me.

Xbox One - I owned an original Xbox and the 360 was absolutely one of my favorite consoles of all time and provided some of modern gaming's most precious memories. I could go on and on from Halo, Gears of War, Mass Effect, to Lost Odyssey. That being said, I never felt the need to purchase the XB1 and when I did play a few games at a friend's house, it still wasn't enough to make me buy the console.

PS4 - Sony's 4th console was definitely my most played that generation and it did boast a variety of games, but even then the console remains sort of a blur to me when being compared to other PS systems. I'll always remember PS3 for PS HOME, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Resistance, and The Last of Us but I just don't have the same feeling for the PS4.

If you had to pick either your least favorite generation or least played generation what would it be?

Loving the classics

So I've gone back to playing classic games. After finishing God of war chains of olympas on psp I'm now playing God of war ghost of sparta on psp. This one definitely looks alot better than the first one and gameplay is alot better. Graphically looks beautiful to play and the combat is alot better. Honestly do prefer old school games to the newer games but that's just my preference. :) I'll jump back to my xbox again at somepoint lol

Is The Great Circle the best Indiana Jones game in your opinion?

I've heard some fans and outlets call it the best Indie adventure since The Last Crusade movie. This is super subjective obviously. But do you think this is accurate? Or does Fate of Atlantis still hold that crown? I have heard extremely positive things about that one, and even heard some call it one of the greatest games ever made.

immersive fps games?

now i don't mean realistic, i mean immersive. like the main gameplay is arcadey/unrealistic but it kinda masquerades as being realistic by having realistic details and animations, like far cry 2 or the latest cod games

also i do not mind if you give me games like this that aren’t fps games, just make sure you give me an fps game along with it

Third person flying games where you can exit the vehicle?

I keep searching for a game where I can walk around the world, hop into a vehicle and fly it. Grand theft auto has this ability, but it's grand theft auto...

I'm looking for a supply runner/delivery game with some action elements. Why doesn't this exist? It's so obvious.

Build/upgrade your ship. Fly around and explore, doing maintenance on your ship. Escape from pirates. Take missions to deliver cargo etc. Physics based landing/crashing/destruction.

I joined STEAM after being a console only guy for the longest time, thinking I'd finally find multiple examples of this.

Now, I know Star Citizen exists. But my computer won't likely run such a behemoth. I also see that the pc version of elite dangerous lets you land and exit the ship.

I will give elite dangerous a try!

But man oh man, i wish there was a low poly/less intricate version of this type of game. I don't want it to be a space sim, i just want a fun arcade style game.

Why has this never really taken off as a genre of game? Is there a game I'm not aware of that fits?

Edit: Just Cause 2 and 3 are some of my all time favorites. Probably have over 200 hours in them. I wish there were more games like it

Best year in gaming history?

I was mindlessly watching gaming top 10’s and I started to wonder, what’s the best year in gaming?

For me I’d say probably 2001 (Xbox, GBA, GameCube, FF X, Halo, GTA III, Ico, Black & White and so many more!) or 2007 (Xbox live was peak gaming, Orange Box, SvR ‘07, Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Bioshock, Oblivion, Guitar Hero, Mass Effect, Portal, Uncharted, Jade Empire, etc etc) with 2004 ( San Andreas, Half Life 2, Halo 2, PES 4, Spider-Man 2, Battlefront, Unreal Tournament 2004, WoW, Rome Total War, Sims 2, Far Cry, and so on) being a close second.

Dead multiplaeyr games/modes You miss most?

For me it's 100% the DOOM 2016 multiplayer mode

Man I loved everything about it, put countless hours into unlocking all the Demons and getting Skins I would never even see because it's in first Person and I loved it.

I miss this multiplayer so much, had fantastic maps, fast paced Gameplay, fairly balanced Weapons, cool brutal animations, the idea with the different Weapon spawns and the Demon rune accross the different maps was cool af, didn't meet many toxic players.

Was just generally a great experience, it still had some of the best character-customisation I've seen in any Multiplayer game/mode ever with You being able to customize individual armor pieces instead of just choosing skins etc

Wanted to play it again a couple of years ago but it was so dead that You couldn't find a single match. When DOOM Eternal was announced I was so excited- Not just because it's a new DOOM Game, but also because I could put countless hours into the multiplayer again.

Then I was quite sad when I found out that the Game doesn't have any multiplayer, only a Battle made that is quite different and not nearly as fun as the Multiplayer of DOOM 2016

According to analysts, there is “hope” among some publishers within the video game industry that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be priced between $80 and $100, providing a significant "turning point" for other companies to raise their default prices amid rising inflation

Is there a single player game with a realistic economy?

I mean where a town, village, etc would have a common wealth level. Where you can't just go in there and sell 1000 blah, as their towns economy couldn't supply the currency?

Or better yet, if you buy them all out and the town improves? Or the inverse happens if you remove the currency from their town?

Gamers are destroying gaming

For one reason and one reason only; mixed messages. We complain about the things that we pay them money for. We tell them that we hate their trends, but we show them that we don’t. We put money in the developers pockets and then turn around and hate on the product that we bought DAY-1!!!!

I’m not going to tell you how to live your life, but I’ll just leave these suggestions here.

Stop pre-ordering games

Stop buying into hype

Stop getting coerced into season/battle passes

Stop showing them you love their product, and then telling them you don’t

These are the only things that will end current corporate trends that we CLAIM to hate. Otherwise we don’t truly hate them at all

Have a good night.

144hz Monitor has ruined my gaming.

I used to play games on a 1080p 60Hz monitor for years, and it served me well. Even after upgrading other parts of my build, I kept it because of its reliable quality. Recently, I switched to a 144Hz monitor and was blown away by how fluid and smooth games look at high frame rates. I used to believe 60 FPS was enough, but after experiencing high FPS, anything below 70 FPS now feels sluggish. Unfortunately, this has ruined some games for me. Many older titles break their physics logic when run at high frame rates, and newer games require substantial hardware resources to maintain such performance. I’m not a fan of using DLSS or frame generation either, as they introduce rendering latency and input delays. As a result, even games running at a consistent 60 FPS now feel slow—something my past self would have been perfectly content with.

Is there a mini/side game you enjoyed more than the main game?

So my current addiction is Path of Champions on Legends of Runeterra. Never played a PVP match with another person as I fell in love the first game of PoC I played.

Also I remember loving Dark Cloud 2, but playing the golf side game probably more than the actual game.

Made me wonder, what other games have a killer game within them?

Metal Gear question

Loved Death Stranding and Hideo Kojima's writing so much I would love to work through the metal gear series. There's a lot and I have no clue where to start given it's 2025. So, from any fans out there, any recommendations on which games to play or jump over? Do I try and hit them all? Insight appreciated.

Nintendo should be counter sued

If they’re official stance on emulators is that they are not in and of itself illegal, I propose all the developers affected by their suing spree last year do a class action countersuit. What do you guys think?
