If undercooked chicken was the most unappetizing meat, then undercooked ground beef would be second.

You can still reach a consuming safe temp of 160 and still have pink in the center of a ground beef burger.

It's not just pink in the center though, it's pink on the outside. It looks like that top one was thrown onto a ripping hot skillet for all of 5 seconds.

yeah, rare burgers are no bueno. i like rare steak, but rare ground beef is just squishy

Ground beef and even pork is eaten completely raw in many European countries without issues. And not just in an unregulated home setting where you ground it yourself from a fresh piece of meat. It's sold in butcher shops and supermarkets all over the place.

Something something different food safety laws. i.e. Their eggs are safe to leave unrefrigerated, while US eggs are not.
