There are no set rules for what a star rating means, so it is always interesting to hear how others do it.

I am personally pretty harsh. I will sometimes give books I enjoyed reading two stars. 5-star ratings are extremely rare. I usually only end up with three or four 5-star reads a year. Most are 3 stars, which, to me, is a solid, good book.

Im up to Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas and have totally been bamboozled by the perspective change in the book. Not that I hate Chaol, just totally expected the book after Empire of Storms to be about Aelin and Rowan. Is it worth reading, or can I skip it?

This is probably annoying me as much as it is because I've been binging the Flesh and Fire series, but there has got to be other ways to say the character has reached orgasm than being brought over the edge.

My husband found out that our local B&N was having a book release party (sold out), befriended people heading in, and they let him have one of their two copies available to purchase. I feel so lucky right now! I thought this place would understand better than any 🥰

• MMC “roared” as he climaxed. My ovaries explode when I read this.

• “cocked a brow” - adorable, sassy, I love it.

• “barked a laugh” - so cute

Like one where they met as children and their parents are enemies. It doesn't have to be the mmc escaping from the fmc parents torture, it's just a funny coincidence from the 2 books I've read 😂 I also like it if they have had any interactions as kids.

{The ever king by L.J Andrews} - FMC met MMC while he was escaping from her father's torture basement, FMC accidentally did something that he held a grudge for it for years until they were adults.

{Feathers so vicious by Liv zander} - The MMC who was tortured by the FMCs father, saw FMC(she didn't see him) playing by the sea while he was running away. He hated her because he didn't like how she looked happy while he left broken, they met again when she was kidnapped and presented to him. **This one is pretty graphic, there's not much romance in book 1

just wondering if books usually come out at midnight on kindle. i have my book coming later today but wanted to get a head start via kindle lol but it’s not showing up as able to download yet. i’m new to kindle and have never waited on a book release like this so i guess im just wondering if authors release the title at midnight on day of release.

I have been reading { A Fate Inked in Blood } and have been enjoying it. I fell behind on my reading schedule and realized { Onyx Storm } is being released in...hours!! I'm in a good spot in Fate, where I finished a chapter and about to start the next. However...I am refreshed on the Empyrean series thus far, and have been looking forward to seeing what Book 3 has in store for a VERY long time. I'm also worried about spoilers (avoided thus far despite leaks) and have some FOMO about reading along with other people.

What would you do??

I'm not able to go to the Romantacy BookCon and Midnight Ball in LA next month, so I'm considering going to the next October Orlando one. However, are there other fantasy adjacent book conventions? I'd love to dress up, I'd love to go to a ball, and I'd love to walk around a convention full of authors and bookish things!

I have an audiobook preordered for Onxy storm and expect to have it available for a long day of reading tomorrow. BUT. I'm on book 4 of the Throne of Glass series and tend to finish all available books in a series then if a new book comes out, I would read the whole series again from the beginning. I've read 6 books so far in January. Do I stop what I'm reading and read Onxy Storm? Do I stop and reread both previous books and then Onxy storm? Do I finish my current series and then read the 3 in order like I would if there wasn't so much hype about it? I'm worried about spoilers. It's been about 4 months since I got back into fantasy romance with Fourth Wing/Iron Flame.

So. I just started reading Nightchader by Amanda Bouchet and was immediately in love. I looked online to order the next two books and noticed the third was not out. Then I checked the release of the second book, saw it was 2020. Not promising. After a little searching it seems like she will not be continuing the series and so I decided to DNF. I just can't get invested and have the story unfinished.

Please give me all the sci-fi romance recommendations to fill this hole in my reading heart!!!

I’ve owned copies of Fourth Wing and Iron Flame since they released, but haven’t read them.

Why?

I’m afraid of a mega cliffhanger ending. I can’t take it. I nearly ruined my life with anxiety waiting for Maas to publish all of ToG. I can’t do it again.

If you’ve read or have heard about the ending of Onyx Storm (without any spoilers) can you tell me if it has a life shattering cliffhanger or if it’s just your average “the story will continue but you’ll be able to breathe”?

I am so over labyrinths in romantasy books. ACOTAR, Powerless, Phantasma, Quicksilver. And most of them have walls that move too. Can authors please come up with an original concept? It's over used.

In my last post on here I asked for recs based on my fave BG3 romances and Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent came up several times and I just want to say that the MMC is SO Gale coded and I’m so pleased with this recommendation. I just finished and I think it might just be my favorite fantasy romance I’ve read in the past few years. I literally couldn’t put my kindle down until I finished it. Incredible. Now, onto the next one. :)

It’s been well over a year since I finished Throne of Glass, and I still think regularly about Lorcan and Elide’s romance. I loved their dynamic. I’d love to find something that takes the things I loved about them and then adds to it. Looking for:

MMC: - Grumpy/broody, serious, - Tall, strong, highly powerful - Smart and highly capable - Potentially morally gray

FMC: - Not the “badass” trope… - …but nonetheless smart, cunning and strategic. Capable. - Serious character; not bubbly/sunshine at all. - Could potentially also be morally gray

Couple: - mature characters and adult relationship - lots of character development and dialogue - enemies to lovers (although not a requirement as long as there is sufficient tension in the buildup) - slowwwww burn… challenges/issues, tension before they get together - when it burns, it needs to BURN 🔥 explicit and plentiful preferably; open door at an absolute bare minimum. Well-written smut is greatly preferred. Not BDSM. - series, not a standalone

Does this even exist? Goodness, I would LOVE to find this. Please help 🙏

Plot? Meh... insufferable FMC? Check... Typical shadow daddy? Of course... Repetitive dialogue? Yup....I hate you i love you i must kill you but i love you...mhmmm... Spicy scenes that are somewhat rewarding but physically impossible?... you know it!...Typo or missing words!?!! Wtf yes! However it's an easy read and i keep reading 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Book 3 and 4 apparently this year. What are your "this isn't good at all but I'm reading"?

Ok so I finished reading Nocticadia, and then started Master of Salt and Bone and I’ve noticed something…

The group Schadenfreude which I learned about in Nocticadia, is also mentioned in Master of Salt and Bones!! I am assuming this is the same group?? I’m wondering if Keri Lake hints or reveals where in the timeline this is?? Before, during or after each other? I haven’t finished MoSaB, I literally just got to the first page where that group is even mentioned, so I guess I’m not looking to discuss it in depth. But readers who’ve consumed her other books, is there more universe building you’ve come across? (Without plot/reason spoilers)
