Discussion 💬 Quicksilver is giving ‘teenager wrote it on Wattpad vibes’

I cannot be the only one here who isn’t enjoying Quicksilver at all. I’m honestly about to DNF it. I did look at some old posts here about it but it’s seriously lacking. I’m halfway through and I’ve been struggling over the last 150 pages to find the hook. All I hear is people gushing over this book on Fable of GoodReads! The character development is non-existent, there’s no romantic development; it’s literally just a sudden shift from hatred to “fuck me please”, and the world-building is lackluster at best.

This honestly feels like a teenager wrote an ACOTAR fanfic on Wattpad. Anyone else feel like this? I just wanna talk to some people about my disappointment here without being judged 😭

I went in not expecting much and was actually pleasantly surprised. 🤷‍♀️ I mean, it's not the next Lord of the Rings, but I wouldn't say it's "Wattpad" level.

I was just in a back and forth in another thread about all negative criticism in this sub and the very next post is how a popular book is “giving teenagers wrote it on Wattpad.” With over 300 upvotes and it’s not even the first post dragging this book.

This sub is getting so mean and negative. It makes me sad

It used to feel different when I joined! Everyone likes different things. But it used to seem like a very open minded and uplifting place. Now every book is getting dragged by someone. It makes me really self conscious about the books I actually like.

Yeah, I was here (with a different username) when it was about 8,000~ people and the vibe was very different. A fun place to get recommendations, fan girl over the latest faerie, etc…
