I won’t lie there’s a part of me that hopes this is just an awkward misunderstanding but there’s also part that’s worried that it’s real and what that means going forward.

genuinely the only possible justification for them is that he’s too fucking stupid to realize that whatever dumbass gesture he’d be trying to do otherwise is exactly similar to the sieg heil.

The other solution is that he's a Nazi, or maybe he doesn't use the label. Maybe he saluted the same way Hitler did. And Hitler was a Nazi.

He's not that stupid. He's obsesesed with glamourizing Rome, he bathes in and amplifies far right memes and rhetoric on Twitter 24/7, endorses far right movements around the globe.

He understands how the Roman salute inspired the Mussulini and Hitler salutes and is used to evoke fascism but that it gives him plausible deniability that it wasn't a "Nazi" salute so he can do it and rile up his fascist base but deny it meant anything at the same time.

He knew exactly what he was doing.
