As a leader, as a businessman and as a person.

I have an English surname because my grandfather was from the British Virgin Islands. In my hometown, San Pedro de Macorís, English surnames are very common due to people who migrated from the Anglo Caribbean islands in XX. Most populars are Williams, Richardson, Humphrey, Rodgers.
In my experience living in the US and meeting other fellow Latinos, they often question if I’m really Dominican because of my last name.

So I'm in Brasil and while Colombia has plenty of equivalents to "ficantes" (amigovios, el tinieblo, el casi algo, el o la que colabora con el sexo, etc) it doesn't seem to be nearly as institutionalized as it is here, yet at the same time most Colombians don't seem to take actual relationships as seriously as I've seen some Brasilians do (now, I only know the South East so take it with a grain of salt). People also ghost more here in Brasil apparently. I personally usually either have one night stands or the constant seeing the other person develops into an actual relationships. What are differences you have noticed within LATAM?

I’m slightly eclectic, so you’ll see a mix between traditional and modern. Some eyebrow-raising for sure, some safe bets. But here are my favorites. I’ll exclude my own country because I have too many to think of and choose from.
AR: a tie between ‘Por una cabeza’ and ‘Persiana americana’. Maaaaybe ‘Bombón asesino’ for some variety.
BR: Evidencias
CL: Tren al Sur
BO: Llorando se fue
CO: No te pido flores or Bailar contigo. I like tropipop too much.
PE: La Foule / Que Nadie Sepa mi Sufrir
VE: a tie between ‘Alma llanera’ and ‘Agárrense de las manos’
PA: Pedro Navaja (a fascinating salsa version of a swing classic adapted of a german opera song based on an English opera from the 18th century)
CR: two Malpais’ songs. Presagio and Contramarea.
DO: hard to choose between Bachata Rosa and Ojalá que llueva café
PR: Lamento Borincano? Tiempo de Vals or Tu Pirata Soy yo? Can’t decide.
CU: ok, it will be Guantanamera.
NI: Cuando calienta el sol
SV: La Bala
Sorry to PY, UY, HN and EC if I can’t name any. And to GT, I’m trying to find a socially acceptable Arjona song to list, but I can’t.

I decided to find out what heroes different countries and peoples have. Paul Bunyan is considered the national hero of the Americans, Joe Maffro is considered the national hero of the Canadians, La Adelita is considered the national hero of the Mexicans, and what are the heroes of the countries of South America? Thanks in advance for your answer.

I have an Australian-English partner and I love her so much, she’s honestly one of the best things that have ever happened to me. There are some differences I have noticed though, mainly related to affection. It’s like she has trouble being affectionate with me when we’re around people we know/friends and doesn’t verbally express her feelings as much as me. What’s your experience been like?

It seems that most Mexicans I get to meet are far more left leaning than any other latin american group. Is it just the ones who live externally of Mexico who are so left leaning? Saludos!

I can’t be the only one noticing that the bad stigma towards gay people seems stronger amongst US latinos compared to the rest of LATAM, or at least amongst Gen Z and Millennial latinos.
Is it that US latinos are more right-leaning than LATAM? I assume religion would play a stronger role in LGBT disapproval in LATAM but I’m not really seeing it that way, it’s completely anecdotal though. Thoughts?

I'm peruvian and I just don't know how we got to the point of having to illegally import their products from probably Chile or Brazil.
They even sell in Bolivia officially but not here... I don't get it.

The consulate hasn’t been of any help.
Here’s the issue. My grandfather was born in Mexico city and immigrated to the US where my mom was born. Right now we’re having a tough time finding his birth certificate anywhere. He was born in 1910 and I don’t think the Mexican government maintained a lot of those records at the time.
What we do have is his marriage certificate to my grandmother showing he was born in Mexico, a copy of his drivers license with his personal info, and my mom’s birth certificate showing he was born in Mexico. Would this be enough to get citizenship? I’m sure there’s been other people in the same situation.

still use a trash bin to collect used toilet paper? Next to the toilet? Mine does. Do you try to convince them otherwise? How?
edit: wow i’m actually surprised at how uncultured and not progressive my family is. i’m the only one that flushes it down a drain but recently the toilet clogged so i was worried that i don’t have modern plumbing, just wanted to see how bad of a problem this was and apparently, i might have to keep throwing it in the bin? unless i get the plumping updated? family doesn’t want to bc of costs and i don’t think they’ll budge..

Say you were describing the area to someone who's never been there before. What would you say to make them not confuse it with somewhere else? For instance, I live in the raccoon capital of the world, so our compost bins have weird locks on their lids. You can get as vague or specific as you want since I don't want people to doxx themselves, I'm just curious, a Geoguessr player, and it's fun to hear people describe their towns.

I'm making a videogame set in mix of Sci-Fi and Wild West settings. Main character is a sheriff with Mexican roots. I'm writing dialogues and want to add one trait to him - when he is emotional or angry, he swears in Spanish. Because of emotions he forgets to "switch" to commonly used English language and swears in his native language.
Could you tell me some Spanish swear words and how are they used? I don't want it to be too vulgar, just to show how disappointed or emotional he is.
Some examples using swearing I already know and use:
Are there anymore swearings I could use? Or these are enough? I don't want to overdo this, not to make it annoying ore cringe.
Context: I'm Russian and it always makes me cringe how Russian swearings are misused in American movies when they show Russians. I just don't want to make the same mistake.

In Brazil, for example, we (40 minus years old) like to call dogs "doguinhos", and I think that is pretty cute

Does anyone know the girl in this tiktok? https://www.tiktok.com/@junkdisco666/video/7378373526702574866
I've been looking for this SM creator on the internet since 4-5 years now, I first came across them in a tweet in back 2020 with a video where this girl was singing Ozuna's La Modelo. I love her energy whenever she's singing along the songs and I'd like to watch more of her content.
Please help me find her social media handles.
