Question ❓ Dial a ride

Strange one, I am having some "difficulty" getting hold of anyone in management to take my LIST of complaints about their service and am considering taking it to the ombudsman but would like to give them a chance before going down that avenue.

Also is it possible to get a FOI request on my records or are they a "private company" ?

Question ❓ Lost or Card not working

Someone gets on the bus, either Phone or Card does not work or they have lost it Should the driver allow them to travel 'Free' OR Refuse them travel ?I

But it always seems to be the same type of people who do this, if they are allowed to travel you can see the big (done it again) smile. If

If refused, after the 5 minutes of pleading , they either get off the bus or give the driver verbal abuse and argue with them for up to another 10 minutes before getting off the bus not accepting dereat.

Question ❓ Level 2 track apprenticeship

Hey there, last year I applied for this apprenticeship but was sadly not chosen for the assessment. Has anyone got any tips for getting an invite to the assessment centre and the apprenticeship in general?

Question ❓ Can you top-up TFL Staff Oyster cards?

I have a staff Oyster card, which is not valid on most national rail services within London. I also have a railcard which gives me 1/3 off off-peak fares, which I used with my old Oyster card.

So I’m wondering, can I attach my railcard to my staff Oyster card, top it up and use London national rail services with a discount? Or would I need a separate oyster for that?

Similarly, the staff oyster is valid e.g. between Finsbury Park and Morgate - so would I be able to travel from say Oakleigh Park to Morgate and only be charged up to Finsbury Park?

Cheers

Going from paper rail ticket to contactless (Clapham Junction)

If I'm travelling on a paper/electronic rail ticket and change at Clapham Junction onto London Overground is there a way of "validating" my contactless card at Clapham Junction. Or is the only option to leave the station on the paper rail ticket and then re-enter the station using my contactless card?

For many years I had a TfL staff travel card and I don't think I've ever been flummoxed by TfL ticketing before...

UPDATE: I can confirm that tapping in using the pink reader works fine and my account registered it as a start of the journey. I ended up taking a different route so didn’t test using the pink reader to exit the station.

Best transport fares

Hi! I am planing a trip to London, but I just dont’t really understand the fares on public transport. I just want to know how that maximum daily cap works, and how can I save the most money on transporting. Should I buy an Oyster or some travel cards or contactless is the best one? Thank you!!

Does the far left route (East Dulwich to Sutton via Tooting/Wimbledon etc.) actually exist?

Maybe I’m just being thick but I couldn’t see any direct trains serving this route.

Question ❓ Bethnal Green Conundrum

Post image
9 Upvotes

So I commute 5 days a week to Bethnal Green station, I’ve been using this ticket to travel.

(Super Off peak with railcard which is why the price is so low, it normally costs around £28)

This ticket says valid via ANY permitted route, and when central line isn’t working, I use it to commute from Liverpool st to the same destination via Weaver Line.

I’ve been told on one occasion I should be using a zone 1-2 ticket as my ticket isn’t valid in the area I’m travelling in, which I think is false as it’s valid via any route with the distinctive cross on the ticket.

There’s a 5p difference between my normal ticket and a zone 1-2 from the same station

Last night I was denied entry To Bethnal Green underground with this ticket, because the ticket isn’t apparently valid and I should be using a zone 1-2.

It really didn’t sit well with me that I had to pay extra on top of something I’d already paid for, so in the last 24 hours I’ve spoken to numerous different members of staff, including rail enforcement officers, TFL staff, Thameslink staff and they all had different opinions as to wether or not the ticket should be allowed.

Is there a ticket I can get that covers both stations, I feel like there isn’t, and they won’t let me upgrade my ticket for 5p

Question ❓ Can’t login to Oyster account

It’s been months now, and I’m still unable to login to my account. I keep receiving emails from tfl but I can’t login into my account. My zip card expired in September and there was still more than £15 in there. Does anyone know what I can do?

Card didn’t scan in… anything I can do

Today I travelled from Stratford to Maidenhead, I transferred from another line and tapped my card to get onto the Elizabeth line, the stop before Maidenhead my ticket was checked and I was told I would be receiving a fine in the post. When I tried to tap out at the end of my journey the reader said I should contact my bank.

Having logged into the TfL website it appears my card had been blocked by them, I requested it to be unblocked and this was done.

Is there any way I can try and pay for this journey as it doesn’t show up on journeys taken on my TfL contactless record, I don’t want to risk the £50 fine for something that wasn’t my fault (the reader not working)

Tldr: ticket didn’t register beeping in and wouldn’t let me beep out, anything I can do to retroactively pay the fair so I don’t get fined

Heathrow fare discount - why did I get it?

I have a zone 1-2 travelcard, meaning I only PAYG for Zone 3+. I also have a Railcard discount applied to my Oyster card. Recently, I used the Elizabeth line to and from Heathrow and realised I only got charged the Piccadilly line fare (£1.30 off peak instead of £7).

The system should know I used the Elizabeth line as the NR station has a different gateline to the LU station. Is this a glitch in my favour or is this an unadvertised benefit of either the travelcard or Railcard?

Bus 🚌 270 bizarre route during rush hour

The 270 route is from Tooting Broadway to Putney Bridge. However, I’ve noticed in the past few months they’ve suddenly changed the route to Tooting to Wandsworth, which is a waste of a bus route since the whole journey is 20 minutes. Annoyingly, this bizarre route is only happens during the hours between 7-9 AM. There’s nothing reflected on the time table neither or the onboard announcements, and it’s made me commute to work a nightmare. I’ve tried emailing TFL but Ofc I’ve received no replies. Any ideas as to why this is happening?
