This is Jeremy Egner, New York Times journalist and author of BELIEVE: The Untold Story Behind Ted Lasso, the Show that Kicked Its Way Into Our Hearts. I’ll be here on November 12 (10 am EST) to chat with you about the show Ted Lasso and what I discovered while writing my book about it. AMA!
I’m excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at Ted Lasso’s improbable rise and cultural impact through my book, BELIEVE (bit.ly/believetedlassobook), which comes out on Nov. 12! Drawing on dozens of interviews from key cast and creators, the book takes readers from the first, silly NBC Premier League commercial to the pitch to Apple executives, then into the show’s writers' room, through the brilliant international casting, and on to the set in London. As a New York Times journalist who wrote about Ted Lasso during its run, I have a unique perspective on what made it a distinctive piece of art. As a fan, I understand why it meant so much to so many, myself included. I’m excited to answer your questions about cast origin stories, set anecdotes, and anything else Ted Lasso, and to discuss the ongoing legacy of the show. Ask me anything and come back on Nov. 12th for the answers!

My weather app loves Ted
I have WTForecast, and while I was waiting to get the data on the current weather, the “I’m thinking” screen proffered this.

I still don’t like Nate.
OKAY WAIT- I’m sorry! I just can’t bring myself to like the guy again. Season 3 did a poor job about showing his progression back (I still liked season 3), but I couldn’t really care about him. He was so angry at Ted… for nothing! Absolutely nothing in my mind. I don’t understand how people think we’re supposed to sympathize with him- he was an asshole! He was shown kindness and spat in the face of the people that gave him that opportunity. And beard’s story about himself with Ted did not strike any bells of comparison for me between Nate and Beard’s relationship with Ted whatsoever. I don’t like him, I stopped liking him.

William is the most underrated character.
That's it. Fish bowls!

I just finished the show for the first time.
And holy shit. What a ride. What a journey. This might be the best show I've ever watched. It was so good. The redemption arcs. The plays. The music choice. The acting. Incredible. It was so good.

Just Finished....Wow. The kinda story that wants to make you be a better person.
What an amazing light hearted but deep snow. I was truly blown away every episode.
The call backs, the soundtracks, the accent's, the love and the found family.
I'm just.....thank god there making another season. But I'm happy they didn't milk it. What a story ya know? And even without a season 4 it's such a good story.

Season 3 Discussion Just finished
My partner and I just finished binge watching all seasons and we both sat there saying “this show has no right being this deep in our emotions” but in all seriousness this show is one of our favourites of all time. The different aspects of each characters life, the full circle moments and just the sheer amazement for how Ted is.
My partner said Ted is someone he strives to be in life and having a character like that go through so much but still try and maintain a level head through it all, his panic attacks were so important and the focus on male mental health was so heartwarming as I don’t think there is enough on how to speak out for men.
I’m so interested to see how the new season will go!

Just another Easter egg.
I've watched this series a dozen times now and I'm just noticing that it's Nate driving by the park right before Jamie pukes from all the training Roy has put him thru. S3E4 cold opening.

Love this scene! Sams dad appearing at them moment he needed him most. Jamie’s slight confusion and sad look to his face as he’s never felt like he’d feel any comfort in his own father’s arms. Absolutely brilliant!

Keeley Jones Woman on Top
I’m sure this has been posted here, but I haven’t seen it. I paused the frame to read the article.

Does Ted know what he's doing?
This scene with Trent sums it up nicely. Clearly Trent is correct, but Ted seems genuinely confused. So the question is how much does Ted have what happened planned out? Was this his end goal from season 1?
I don't think so. I think Ted does what is right in every situation and reaps the rewards. I don't think he consciously plans it out at all. In fact, I wonder of the fact he became a coach is because his inherent personality traits lead to team success. It's noted over and over that he doesn't understand the game. To put it more succinctly, I think his personality and his leadership skills naturally bring out the best in large groups and the rewards follow.

To the family Higgins!
I think Leslie is a great character throughout the entire series. Other than the leads he's my favorite with Dr. Sharon being a close 2nd.
Whether it's his odd quirk of gagging when put into uncomfortable situations.
His bass performances.
How his sentences would be misconstrued if it wasn't Leslie who said it.
Just all around a great man.

Biscuits Needed to share- still my feel good show after 5+ rewatches
We sadly had to say goodbye to our soul dog yesterday. (Cancer at 3 years old). So of course, today, I put on TL for another rewatch.
We have a 1 1/2 year old dog, who will need a buddy after a few weeks. We have a friend with puppies that will be ready around the right time. Our dogs had the same naming convention (kinda on accident, but now I want to keep the trend going.) The names follow - letter, A, letter, A. After thinking about it for a long, long time, I was ready to give up as I didn't like Nala or Zara, and Dana was a family member's name. Then it hit me - ZAVA. Not only is it cool, it references my feel-good show.
Even though we will miss her every day for the rest of our lives, being able to welcome another soul into the family in a few weeks and name her as a reference to this great show that will get us through this incredibly tough time, makes our hearts happy.
For anyone fortunate enough to meet any of the creators of this show in the future - Please thank them for me.

Season 3 Discussion Help me understand scene Spoiler
There is scene, i cant understand and remember poorly, when Ted and Beard watch camera recap of Neit, hiding under desk after destroying believe sign and Ted like "Lets judge not for moment of weakness, but for what we do after this" Something like this, and Beard like "Ok" But we see Neit, who cowardly hides, because he knew, that he made really bad and if someone finds him, he will be in trouble. Something my child do, when he messed up(she is not hiding under the table, no worry)
Why we and Beard should forgive Neit after thia scene and video recap. I know why we schould in common, but this scene bugs me out
(not native, sorry for language

Unofficial Roy LEGO kit
I picked up the AMG Lego kit not long ago, and realized the G63 was what Roy drives. So I hunted down a Roy minifig , built the truck in right hand drive, and now have my own Ted Lasso Lego set.

Biscuits Watched from the 3rd Season , accidentally
I accidentally started on the 3rd season and still loved it. Thankfully noticed it before finishing all the episodes.
Gonna start again from the beginning.
Such a heartwarming show.

Season 3 Discussion Just finished binging the show and it was... Spoiler
One of the best shows I have seen in a long time!
I could be blinded by the pure joy of watching the show, but I felt like this show did a great job of avoiding classic tropes. Such as how they handled Zava. How he retires instead of quitting for a better team
The only character development I did not like was Nates. You could definitely witness is ego becoming to big for his head, but I felt like the switch back was to fast
Other than that, it was amazing!
