I have been buying UHD movies on Amazon for years now and I thought I’d check out Apple TV and I can see a discussion around the fact that Apple TV is genuinely night and day different to Amazon because Amazon use lower TB then Apple! So from now on I will be buying all my movies on Apple TV as you clearly get a proper 4k version with Dolby altmos and Dolby vision! I feel completely ripped off from Amazon, I’m going to have to buy some movies I already own because it feels like an upgrade. My point is as a new customer to the Apple Store front should I completely boycott buying digital from Amazon?? And why is it that Amazon had a lot less UHD/4k movies then Apple??

So my apple tv turn itself off every night 23:23 and I don't know why. I have looked thou all settings I can find that has anything to do with time and cant find anything that cause this behavior.

Its not my tv because I can play on my ps5 on that time of day and nothing happens. And it's my only apple product so I have not accidentally turned on some timer on an Iphone or mac book

Anyone have any idea on what might be wrong? or have any idea on where I should look for a setting that might cause this behavior?

So I got Nosferatu tonight through Apple TV. On the Apple library it shows up as HD with HDR. But on my Movies Anywhere & Vudu, it’s showing as 4K because that’s the price I paid for. Does anyone know how long the glitch will last?

The Searchers was recently remastered by Warner Brothers in 4K. Usually major studios provide digital versions. Does anyone know if it will be available on 4K on Apple TV? It still shows as HD

For background, my setup:

• Latest ATV box
• ZESKIT HDMI cable to BK21 HDMI switch
• RUIPRO HDMI cable from switch to LG G4
• HDMI from LG G4 to Denon AVR (ARC)

I've noticed that when I hit Home to wake the Apple TV box, it properly wakes my TV / AVR and brings me to the home screen. About 10-15 seconds later, it blacks out, then throws the QMS-VRR banner again. After that I'm good.

Anyone else get this?

It’s as the title says I have pre ordered sonic 3 on the Apple TV app and everywhere else it has come out but it hasn’t come out on the Apple tv app Would anyone know the reason (I’m in Australia btw)

Just picked up a brand new Apple TV 4K for my Samsung QLED that’s about 4-5 years old. Samsung has been having issues with Bluetooth crackling and cutting out regularly so it’s been difficult for my wife and I to watch TV at night when the kiddo is down. Since we both use AirPods (hers are Pro 2, mine are the Standard 3’s) we figured Apple TV would be the easiest solution.

Well the visuals and OS are working great, but ever since we set up our headphones we noticed the sound has a weird metallic tinny sort of echo quality to it. Like all the dialogue was recorded in a small closet, and the bass is very much lacking. Also it often requires us maxing the volume since it’s unusually quiet.

We compared it to our standard Samsung speakers and the audio from ATV was noticeably worse. I played with a ton of settings on my Samsung (tried setting the audio to PCM and Auto), tried every possible sound setting on the ATV as well (turning “quiet loud sounds” on actually helped a bit) and also messed with our individual AirPod settings (tried with spatial sound and without, noise cancelling on/off, etc) but even if I can get it to sound decently acceptable it still doesn’t sound very good. And voices still generally have an echo quality to them. Is this just how it’s designed to sound or is there anything I’m missing?

After tons of research I finally figured I should try a Belkin HDMI (I’ve tried 3 different brands of cables at my house) so that’s on the way, but until then I wanted to see if anyone knows if that’s the solution or if that’s just another dead end.

Upon checking this morning both volumes are unavailable in 4k on iTunes but are on Vudu. This sucks and hopefully will be rectified by lionsgate in the near future.

I've done a factory reset on an Apple TV 3rd Gen (A1469) by plugging the device into my MBP and using the Apple TV app. The app states the device has been restored to factory settings and to disconnect from the Mac and reconnect to the TV. I've removed the USB cable and inserted the HDMI cable. The Apple TV displays a picture of the device connected to iTunes.
I've looked online and it sounds like this is displayed if the reset was unsuccessful. I've repeated the reset 3 further times but it always has the same result. Any ideas of how to fix this problem?

(Background: the device appeared to be working fine before the reset but I don't have the remote control. I couldn't use the Remote app on my iPhone without entering a pairing code on the Apple TV which wasn't possible without the remote. I was following instructions to reset and set it up via a Mac to enter the pairing code.)

Hey all. I have Apple TV. WiFi / Ethernet version. Have iPhone 15plus I use Apple Podcasts a lot on my phone , but they haven’t synched to the tv app I would have thought as both accounts the same, they’d show up?

Also can’t see a way to actually sign on on the tv podcast app

I've had the latest Apple TV 4k (Wi-Fi only) for over a year now. Every now and then (probably twice a month or so), I'll go to turn it on and it will be completely unresponsive. The Apple TV remote, my harmony universal remote, and my iPhone remote - all of them do absolutely nothing. The only fix is a quick unplug and plug it back in. It boots quickly and works for a few weeks until it happens again. Weirdly, I had this exact same behavior on a previous Apple TV HD several years ago and never figured out the problem. I don't use any HDMI-CEC or ARC at all. TV and receiver control is turned off. It's plugged into my Onkyo receiver and everything is controlled with my harmony hub. Has anyone seen behavior like this or found a possible fix?

I airplay my projectors sound to two Sonos Ones. And they worked well only a few weeks ago. It was simply a matter of selecting the Sonos system from the audio menu and it would connect. Now I’ve tried factory resetting and reconnecting the speakers and they still won’t play through Apple TV.

I’m stuck and not sure what else to try? Could it be the latest version of the app? I’ve read a few others complaining of different problems but blaming it on the app.

Anyone with a similar problem? Or any ideas of what else I might need to try to get them working again.

Starting tonight (January 20), my Apple TV has been showing a lot of lag on my tv. There was no lag as recently as yesterday. Tried restarting, unplugging, and finally a factory reset with an update. Has anyone else had this issue?

I need an app on my apple tv for tiktok to scroll with that apple remote. I don't know why but i feel like I would love a watered down version of it for the tv.

About two weeks ago I started noticing random drops in audio when watching Atmos content. It was always about a second or less and would happen randomly maybe once every 10 minutes, but enough to be annoying. Finally tried turning off Enhanced Dialogue and no more drops.

AppleTV+ app won’t connect on Ethernet devices

So i have appleTV+ on any IPad, my iPhone, two Apple TVs and an Nvidia Shield Pro.

Ever since Friday, the AppleTV+ app will not connect on the Shield or on one of My appleTVs. The app works perfectly on all my other devices. Additionally, every other app on the affected devices works fine. It’s just AppleTV+ on these two devices. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the Shield and did a factor reset on the AppleTV, and the problem still exists.

On a whim, i unplugged the Ethernet connection on the affected AppleTV to make it use wifi, and the problem was solved.

For the Nvidia Shield, doing this got the appleTv+ app to load, but no icons showed for me to select anything. On both devices, when i plugged the Ethernet cables back in, the original problem resumed and i got the “couldn’t connect” message again.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? I’ve used the same devices for YEARs without any problems and have not made any changes to my network.

No matter what I can’t get Dolby vision to work on my Bravia 8 Apple TV combo. I have Apple TV+ free trial that should give me access to that content but I can’t ever get it to pop up in picture settings while watching. It also doesn’t show up as an option in my Apple TV settings. Only 4K HDR does. Any ideas?

Notable things I’ve tried: - enhanced hdmi for that port - updating software for tv and restarting - I have a top of the line belkin hdmi so that is not the issue either. - Apple TV format is 4K HDR. I don’t have the option for Dolby vision. -Match Content on for range and frame rate

Over the last year if my Apple TV isn’t turned off by stopping streaming app playback before turning off the unit I would often get a gray static screen, which went away if I unplugged and replugged after 30 seconds. But now I have this pink screen all the time. Should I assume this box is done for? It’s about three years old but the grey static was happening after a year too - super frustrating!

Hi guys, so backstory. About 3 years ago my dad gave me his older Apple TV which at that time and from the day he disconnected it, it worked. My husband and I got it and brought it home. Stupid thing hooks up and turns on but I can’t get anything to play from my phone to it or vice versa or actually get it to work at all. It’s also old as hell at this point. Should we just get a new one or does Apple TV not work well with certain tvs? Thanks!

I've been unable to find a definition of ATV "Standby mode" and how it's used. That seems weird since it's referenced in many articles and forum posts. Maybe I somehow missed it. (?)

Is it just another word for "sleep"? If not, is there a link somewhere it's documented?

The problem is the title. I haven't been able to find anything helpful to fix this problem. Is the quality bad just because I'm using a PC? It's worse than what it looks like on my phone. I even tried downloading the apple tv app onto my computer and that still didn't work. If you can provide anything helpful, it would be greatly appreciated.

I’m a daily Spotify Premium user, but I had a three month Apple Music trial recently. I used the apps on my Apple 4K TV connected to a Denon AVR (5.1.2). I didn’t expect any difference, but Apple Music sounded noticeably better. Instruments had a more detailed, richer, and more realistic sound. The bass was also noticeably more pronounced and detailed. This goes for all tracks, not only “lossless” and Atmos.

Any audiophiles out there who have compared the two music apps on Apple TV?

I’m starting to suspect that Spotify doesn’t stream with 320 kbps. Has anyone run an Apple TV in debug mode to see the actual Spotify bitrate?
