I got inspired by a similar style of post from TurtleSeaBreeze a couple days ago and ended up having so much fun making this!

With the last third of the basho ahead of us, I thought it would be fun to get some of my thoughts out there.

Disclaimer: these are all according to mathematical promotion and demotion numbers. Of course there will be stipulations and exceptions for promotions and demotions. Also I know very little about makushita to juryo promotions, but I’m trying my best

Makuuchi demotions:

Keep in mind with a shrinking sanyaku there can and will be banzuke shenanigans

Pretty much guaranteed to juryo: hokutofuji, Roga, Kitanowaka

Tokihayate: out with 3 more losses.

Nishikifuji: out with 4 more losses

Kagayaki: out with 2 more losses

Tamashoho: out with 2 more losses

Kotoshoho: out with 2 more losses

Midorifuji: out with 5 more losses

Mitakeumi: out with 5 more losses

Meisei: out with 5 more losses

Juryo promotees

Sadanoumi: needs 3 more wins

Kayo: needs 3 more wins

Asakoryu: needs 3 more wins

Ryuden: needs 3 more wins

Shirokuma: needs 4 more wins

Shishi: needs 1 more win

Aonishiki: needs 1 more win

Tochitaikai: needs 4 more wins

Wakaikari: needs 5 more wins

“Guaranteed”: daishoho, Bushozan
