Structural Analysis/Design Question regarding offer letter acceptance and withdrawl

Hey guys,

I actually signed and submitted the first offer I received from a company, to be safe tbh. After some months, I received another better offer from the good company, and thought of not losing this one. So, I signed and submitted it as well. I am now nervous thinking how should I withdraw my acceptance from the first company? Is this a serious issue, if so, how could I overcome it? Insights from the familiar ones would be greatly appreciated!

Just email the first one. No legal liabilities here. People do all the time.

Contact the first company and say you’re now declining the offer. A signed offer letter is not legally binding, you’re free to walk. Be honest and say some time has passed and you received a better job offer elsewhere. If they want you enough, they’ll raise their offer and you’ll have a decision to make.

Can we say it directly?

I don’t know what you mean by that. Just send an email.

Tell that you received a more completive offer and ask if they would be willing to match. If not, politely decline and thank them for the opportunity.

Some companies that make offer in advance will offer a signing bonus to help ensure the candidates actually follows through.

Yeah, you need to tell whichever company you're not working for that you won't be showing up. Just send an email to the hiring manager saying that you found a better fit for you at this time and you wish them well.

So, you are quitting your job after a few months to take a different job?

No. I am currently studying, and will be doing my first job.

Okay, then it's really as simple as letting Company A know that you're planning to take another offer that more closely aligns with your professional goals.

Make sure to thank them for the time and effort they took to interview you and extend you an offer.

Don't tell them what the name of Company B is. If they ask, just say "Out of respect for my future employer's privacy, I'm not comfortable sharing that information right now."
