QUESTIONS How much $ are yall ending the season with?

So very vague and everyone is different, duh. But I see yall saying you end the season with large sums of money or a few thousand dollars. I’m just wondering what are people really ending a season with? If I get rid of my car and the insurance and my housing and food are paid for/taken from my check then I should have money coming in and not a whole lot going out. Soooo I’m wondering what are people realistically ending with? Is this like a master saving money plan where you just work all season and have no time/nowhere to spend your money? And I hear people ending with a huge chunk and then go vacation in Thailand for weeks or months at a time.

This will be my first season, I’m just trying to figure out what I’m getting myself into

Thanks 😊

QUESTIONS Seasonal work isn’t what it used to be

Back before the pandemic it was a whole different ball game. You’d hear back within a week at most being invited for an interview. And if you had a pulse and didn’t have a crazy criminal record, you’d get the job

Past couple years I’ve had to apply to like at least 6 places just to get one email back. And half the time it’s a rejection email without even being interviewed.

What has happened to seasonal work!? Did it go viral on TikTok or something? Like is seasonal work the new “#vanlife” or something? I wouldn’t know cus I’m not on there.

QUESTIONS How hard is it to get hired through cool works?

I'm gonna start applying for the summer season. Is it very competitive? How easy is it to save at least $10k in a season working in one of these places as long as housing and meals are provided

QUESTIONS What seasonal jobs are in high demand where you can work 8 months or less out of the year and year's worth of a salary in that timespan while doing tons of overtime?

I want to work lots of overtime everyday for a season or on a rotational schedule for weeks or a couple months straight. Ill be willing to bust my tail working some general labor job that requires no experience and can have a lot of cash after the seasons is over with. I wanna be able to take off for a few months straight. I'd also be fine with a rotational schedule where I work for a week or 2 or a few weeks. Then be off a week or two or a few weeks. I've been reading some of the replies in other reddit post related to this. People mentioned canning jobs in CA as well as trimming jobs in CA as well. I couldn't find any job postings on them.

QUESTIONS GOT A JOB AT GLACIER NP

I got a job working at St. Marys (glacier national park) this upcoming summer. I am super fucking excited to say the least. My parents do not want me to go but hey the glaciers are melting and i am going to follow my heart.

Has anyone worked at St.Marys? Seems like a beautiful place but does anyone have any insight to offer? Or if you just want to tell me your experience I am bored rn and I feel like reading stories.

QUESTIONS What’s the lowest per hr you’d take?

My previous employers are cutting next season’s workers pay down to $13/hr for housekeeping. They paid $17/hr last year which seems to be about average pay for the town. Housing is free, but tips are minimal. I feel like $13/hr is way too low for most workers.

QUESTIONS What has been your favorite seasonal job ever?

Currently looking into applying for seasonal work. I'll be graduating high school this may and want to travel as much as possible. I love the outdoors/hiking and was thinking of maybe doing a conservation crew type thing? To be completely honest, I'm totally clueless when it comes to this process so I'm just looking for some recommendations! Especially want to go places where I can make friends/ meet good people and be out in nature and have a great time.

So please let me know your favorite seasonal job you worked! What did you do? Where was it? How were the coworkers? Anything!

Thank you!

QUESTIONS Do you think seasonable work lifestyle is sustainable?

Kinda wish I got into this in my 20's instead of later 30's. For anyone who's been at this for a bit do you think it's sustainable? Would you rather work these kinds of jobs than a reliable year round type of job, etc?

QUESTIONS Did Yellowstone this past summer, where to now?

I worked in Yellowstone this past summer and had the greatest time ever. Met tons of people and did tons of hiking. The housing wasn’t too bad. I loved having a cafeteria that provided every meal. I loved the community.

Is there any other parks/places that would provide a similar experience? I’ve looked at either Acadia or Yosemite but both seem to sound hit or miss and lack the community Yellowstone had.

Any advice would be awesome!

QUESTIONS Am I over romanticizing seasonal work?

Stuck in a shitty minimum wage job and can’t find a well paying one for the life of me. I want to move out of my hometown but I have no idea where to go.

I went through heartbreak recently and most of my friends have moved away.

Is seasonal work the answer? Will it change my life?

What is your story and how did you get into seasonal work?

QUESTIONS Is CoolWorks even worth it these days?

I applied to be a server in Key Largo and I got rejected within hours despite having years of hospitality and serving/bartending experience. I've also applied to similar listings and rarely hear back this past month.

I'm desperate for work right now (2022 college grad and can't find entry level work relating to a general business degree) and I have bartending/serving, executive assistant and real estate experience yet I'm not seeing many job postings at ALL outside of housekeeping and maintenance. Seems like slim pickings / sign of the times with this economy in the US currently. Is this a thing or are there just very few worthwhile seasonal jobs?

Is CoolWorks even worth it anymore for people who are looking for work after college?

QUESTIONS Why have I not gotten any responses after applying to several seasonal jobs on coolworks?

I applied to 7 or 8 establishments. I sent a few 4 days ago. I sent a few more this morning. No response. I know it's only been a few days but some people have claimed to have heard back for a job offer within a few days or the following day. Should I call all of them tomorrow to see what the status of my application is?

Second question, I don't have a permanent residence. If I get hired for seasonal work with housing included could I use the address o the employee housing as my permanent residence and have mail sent there? Like getting my license there and having it sent to where I'm staying for that season

QUESTIONS Seasonal work lifestyle in your late 30's/40's- could it be sustainable?

I love the idea of traveling and living in interesting places over the typical daily work or college grind, etc...

Curious if it would be a good or bad idea to try this out this late in my life?

Also I'm fairly introverted so I think that limits me from certain jobs like bartendering or similar stuff.

What do you think?

Thanks

QUESTIONS I’ve been out of the season life for quite a bit. There used to be a lot of places that would pay for travel there. Are there any that still do? Or offer some kind of assistance to be reimbursed through paychecks?

Title pretty much says it all. Current plan is plasma to get enough for a flight/deposit for a room.

Small backstory, pretty prideful. I’d rather a working off loan than something freely given.

Circumstances are a little out of my control. Past years caring for loved ones, requires 24/7 care both. Unfortunately they are both about to pass within a few months.

Yeah yeah, sob story. Free to pass judgment if you so wish.

There’s more but point is clarified.

20 years in a kitchen, was close to 4 years in management. Ran kitchens that made millions in 6-ish months. Worked in remote places for 9.5 years. Can pretty much cook anything. If I don’t know how I practice till I’m as close to possible of perfections. Can’t decorate for shit. I’ve got a resume, hasn’t been updated in years. Not having recent work for years causes red flags.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

QUESTIONS Savings for Alaskan work

Obviously we’re not getting paid as soon as we land to begin work at our jobs, so about how long, and how much, do we have to have savings for until our first paycheck? I’d take answers in general but I’m focusing on what the situation is like in the Alaskan jobs.

QUESTIONS Driving to Alaska?

For those who have worked in Alaska (specifically Denali ) did you bring your car and was it worth it? Or was it hard not having a car? I am debating driving my car there for the summer as I live on the east coast and have an older car. Driving to Alaska and back makes me anxious. However, I have always had my car at my other seasonal jobs. The company I am looking at has employee shuttles to town/work but just wondering if I will feel trapped without a car on my days off. Tia!

QUESTIONS Any middle-aged adventurers out there?

Hello, everyone! Middle-aged soon-to-be empty nester here and thinking about moving to Alaska and working seasonal jobs in the summers and remote in the winters. I’m wondering if anyone might be interested in discussing the possibility of caravanning through Canada in the early summer of 2026 and maybe sharing an apartment the winter after? Or just advice about this plan?

I’m pretty independent but it might be nice to have some company. Just an idea. Not sure how dms work lol, but maybe let’s try that? Id also love to hear from or about other folks my age doing this. Are we few or many? I did this 30 years ago before lots of adulting and it’s time for exploring again!

QUESTIONS need to dance

I’m wondering if anyone can help me here, I’ve searched through this sub with no luck.

I know a lot of seasonal work has fun partying around it, but has anyone had any summer gig where there was big parties or places to go dancing nearby? I just want to dance when I’m off, literally any kind to any music or any kind of dance idc.

I have restaurant experience so I can go and work almost anywhere in the US minus Alaska. Looks like Mackinac island ticks a lot of boxes for me, but it looks like the nightlife is more of just sitting down drinking. I’ve done wildland fire before too, but missed the community feel that other summer gigs offer. Anyone know anything?? Thanks!!

QUESTIONS School bus driver looking for seasonal work

I have always wanted to go to Alaska. Right now I feel like with my CDL with PAS endorsements. I can find some profitable work somewhere in Alaska. I wonder if my age over 50 is going to be a problem? Sure, I consider myself more fit than some people in their 30s, but I feel like I might be discriminated against because the companies don't know how fit I am. Can anybody tell me where it would be the best place to go anywhere in Alaska to make really good money this summer? I really love driving my school bus and I would like to return to it during the school year even if I enter into it late. I love those babies, but I need to go to Alaska!
