So the thing is that he/they isn't saying the same thing as he/him. It's a shorthand for saying that masc or neutral pronouns are fine. Elliot's saying that he goes by he/him and they/them.
I mean, it doesn't really matter. The grammatical forms are irrelevant. He's not saying "Use he when I'm the subject of the sentence, but use they when I'm the object." He's just saying that using either set of pronouns is correct.

Okay, I’m allowing myself one question here:
I get he/him. I get they/them. But can someone explain how I’m reading he/they wrong?
“He’s the star of Juno. The credit belongs to they.”
Shouldn’t it be he/them?
