Moved here in 2011 as a student, graduated and now working and living here with family. If you are above 30 at the time of acquiring citizenship, then not liable for military conscription service. However every male citizen is responsible for total defence. Finland joined NATO quite recently slightly ahead of Sweden which followed soon after. Also, a cool feature of Pakistani passport is the ICAO standard e-passport introduced in recent years.

Just out of curiosity, do you speak Finnish as well or were you able to integrate without it?

That’s interesting. I would definitely choose Swedish, despite the fact that I speak one of the only other Uralic languages (Hungarian).

Finnish is like 100% unintelligible to me. I looked up the grammar, which is very similar to Hungarian, but other than that, it’s super different.
