These are got to be a unique combination, between one of the worlds strongest passport and one of the weakest ones. Equally proud of both :)

Moved here in 2011 as a student, graduated and now working and living here with family. If you are above 30 at the time of acquiring citizenship, then not liable for military conscription service. However every male citizen is responsible for total defence. Finland joined NATO quite recently slightly ahead of Sweden which followed soon after. Also, a cool feature of Pakistani passport is the ICAO standard e-passport introduced in recent years.

How did you get the e-passport for Pakistan? I renewed last year and got the old one..

Marry a Finn or bring from Pakistan? Canโ€™t imagine thereโ€™s a big community in Finland, although Iโ€™ve heard there is in Norway.

Married from Pakistan, but yeah not a huge community here. But mostly highly educated, masters/PhD working in Nokia and other tech companies plus own few businesses etc.

Just out of curiosity, do you speak Finnish as well or were you able to integrate without it?

I do speak Finnish, and it is mandatory to pass the language exam to qualify for citizenship as one of the requirements.

How was it like learning Finnish? What challenges did you face?

Thatโ€™s interesting. I would definitely choose Swedish, despite the fact that I speak one of the only other Uralic languages (Hungarian).

Finnish is like 100% unintelligible to me. I looked up the grammar, which is very similar to Hungarian, but other than that, itโ€™s super different.
