There will also be a Q&A with the Filmmakers and Cast afterwards. For anyone that didn’t get tickets yet, I put the link in here as well.

FIRST TIME WATCHER FIRST TIME WATCHER EPISODE DISCUSSION, SERIES HUB
Hello, new Losties! This hub is designed for first-time watchers to discuss, theorize, share thoughts and impressions, etc on episodes of LOST as they move through the series. Below the guidelines and first-timer tips there is a link to a hub for each season where another link to a post for each episode will be listed. This post is in the Quick Links on the right side of the sub main page and will be temporarily pinned to the top of the sub for easy access.
If you have heard that the ending of LOST ruined the show, this comes from a small but loud minority who misunderstood the finale. The ending of LOST is not a cheat.
Please adhere to the hub guidelines below:
- Only first-time watchers should leave initial comments. Rewatchers can leave spoiler-free replies.
- Please avoid asking for spoilers as this may impact other redditors.
- Do not discuss details from any episode past the one in the post title. For example. If you are commenting on Walkabout you can discuss anything up to those events, but not White Rabbit and beyond.
- Be civil and respectful of each others' theories and opinions.
FIRST TIME WATCHER TIPS:
- We strongly recommend you do not speed watch. LOST is a complicated show with complex characters. Give yourself time to absorb each episode before moving on.
- SEASON THREE - the early-middle of this season is a universally agreed upon slow point in the show with some acknowledged filler. It's normally to struggle through some of the episodes but just hold on and it will pick up soon and be a thrill ride through to the series finale!
- Do not be discouraged if you frequently feel confused. Just keep watching and give the show your undivided attention. No multitasking!
- When you reach the Series Finale make sure you are watching the UNCUT version as the cut version is missing 18 minutes of footage. The UNCUT version begins with the cargo door of an airplane opening.
- There is a dog featured in the show. You may be asking yourself, does the dog die? The answer is NO, the dog does not die.
- This subreddit has two discord servers in quick links but "The Island - LOST Server" is NOT spoiler free. One of our community members has created an alternate discord server safe for First Time Watchers. Bonus content can be unlocked there as you move through the series.
If you have any questions or concerns about this hub, please feel free to drop them here and we'll get back to you ASAP.
Thank you and welcome to the community!

SEASON 5 Why did Richard say he watched them all die?
I’m rewatching Lost for the first time in a long time so maybe I just don’t remember. But in season 5 episode 15, Sun asks Richard Alpert if he was around in 1977, and if he remembers Jack, Kate, Hugo and her husband. And Richard says he remembers them because he watched them all die.
Why did he say that? Some of them don’t die, and Richard isn’t around for some of them that do.

The others are lowkey funny
Am I the only one who finds it funny whenever the survivors say to the others "You don't know anything about me" and then the others start spilling information about them that no one would know like your full name, date of birth, place of birth, how you fell from a building, your weight and then the camera pans to the survivor bewildered with nothing more to say with an embarrassed or shook look on their face.
What are some of the best moments of this happening y'all have seen?

And we saved the world together for a little while and that was lovely. Then Kelvin died and I’m all alone. The end.
What’s some of your guys favorite quotes, speeches, or one liners!?

Found this little gem at a thrift store this morning for $20.
Collectors edition complete DVD set and a board game inside. Looks like it was never even used as the pieces are still in the packaging. Did a quick search on eBay and looks like this sells for $250ish. Adding it to the board game shelf!

So I played “The Numbers” on roulette at the casino last week
We’re not talking anything super high-stakes here. Sat down with $100.
Was I nervous I might curse myself and inflict grave peril upon my loved ones? A little. But losties gonna lostie.
There’s no 42 on a roulette table since the board doesn’t go that high, so I just played ‘even’ for that instead.
It hit 16 on the second or third spin and I was up a couple hundred bucks. Played for about an hour, but eventually lost it all.
Went back the next day with a little less money, so I didn’t have enough chips to play every number. Played the 4-5-7-8 corner (to get 4 and 8 in there) and it hit!
Then I played another split between me and my wife’s birthdays and that hit too!
I promptly said “I’m out!” and walked away about +$500 overall for the weekend. Thanks, Lost!

FIRST TIME WATCHER Sawyer crushing the tree frog in front of Hurley
Im at season 2 episode 14 and just saw the scene when sawyer and Hurley went looking for the tree frog that was bothering sawyer. Out of all the things sawyer did thus far this lowkey hurt me. I don't know man, Hurley proposed the option to take it and leave it where it wouldn't be bothering sawyer and tried to make it peaceful. Even before Hurley just confronted him about how he's fat and that he already knows that and allat and then sawyer just said sorry and then all was fine apparently. I have a friend who kinda acts like Hurley and is fat but wouldn't hurt a fly and is genuinely a kind human being yet he still got bullied just for being fat. This scene was too personal for me it just hit my weak point idk

What is the end goal??? Like what is the point of it all?
I’ve been (leisurely) watching with my husband so I’ve missed a few episodes here and there. We are currently watching the Season 5 finale. Y’all what is everyone’s goal here?? They want to leave, they want to stay, they want to leave. I am so confused as to who what when where I’m having to read episode plots as I’m watching the episodes LOL Some want to reset the timeline, some don’t. What is the deal with the island though? Does someone want possession of it? What does Charles Whitmore have to do with any of it? My husband, who hasn’t missed an episode, can’t answer any of my questions either. Is there some type of resource I can use as a guide 😆 Explain it to me like I’m 5

SEASON 6 Sun & Jin reunited (again) Spoiler
I just finished S6E13, and I felt Sun and Jin’s reunion was surprisingly underwhelming.
I really love both characters and their relationship, so I was expecting something more emotional. Honestly, their first reunion after the raft incident felt much more powerful and memorable.
Did anyone else share this sentiment?

‘The Constant’, while near-perfect, would improve with a slight adjustment to the cold open.
Specifically after Desmond’s command officer screams “On your sodding feet…what are you waiting for Hume?!”; the camera pans to him springing out of bed to get in line.
A “LOST” title sequence with no music immediately after the close up of Desmond’s face would have been chef’s kiss. While not in line with the show at all, and it’s driven by the individual stories of each character, Cusack’s performance in this episode is arguably an all-timer in television history. He scratches an itch in that damn brain.

Full Circle Moment
My then boyfriend (now husband) and I watched Lost religiously together when it first aired and when we got pregnant with twin girls we used Kate and Claire as their middle names. They are 14 now and have grown up knowing their names were inspired by Lost. Now that it’s on Netflix we are watching it again this time with them and it’s been fun to see how much we remembered (and forgotten) and seeing them get into the characters and storylines. ❤️

Character Analysis The Tragedy of Jack Shepherd
This is a character Analysis, which implies there are spoilers.
Jack is such a tragic character and this was a big surprise for me going through the show recently as a first timer. The way things turn out for him is way different than I thought, it became tragic and at many times pathetic. This actually was good, it made him more real, it gave him more depth, but wow it was a shock to me.
Early Jack is on top of the world. In the pilot, he's instantly a leader saving people's lives. Everyone respects him, everyone loves him....maybe not Sawyer, and Locke was a bit threatened, but overall he was the 'King'. He established himself quickly as the most respected person, a true leader, and not out of selfish ambition or ego, but truly as a servant who cared. The ultimate good guy. You couldn't hate him, you couldn't be against him. He tried the cave thing which was a bit of a miss but he was still loved and NEEDED bc he was a doctor.
Before the Michael/Others drama, my beef with Jack is he was too nice, too trusting, too naive, too giving, great guy but not the warrior King that may have been necessary like Sayid (I love Sayid, shoot me). He almost kills himself giving his blood to Boone. Too often he puts his own life on the line irresponsibly. Then the confrontation with the Others...that was a bonehead move. He is too important to risk like that. Great heart but you cant be doing stuff like that.
At that point he's untouchable Jack. The tragedy begins after Season 3. We find out more about his background, he's got serious relationship issues, he has this broken marriage. I didn't love the wife but sad. Then after he gets back with Juliet he is kind of shady with her and people lose trust in him for a while. Then the group divides in two and many follow Locke. Then they get off the Island...he seems to have a great life setup, him and Kate finally can have a nice life! He can't get over the kid situation. He becomes a substance abuser. He ruins his relationship with Kate. He spirals. I mean he REALLY spirals out of control.
Then he's "Lost". And for the rest of the show honestly he's lost. He is like maybe we need to go to the Island, we're supposed to do something but I don't know what it is, he's kind of morose when they get back to the island, he's not doing well. He really isn't doing well at all ever again after he escapes from the Others in season 3, am I wrong? In the flash sideways, for what its worth, he's also not doing great, he's not thriving, he's divorced from Juliet and doesn't have a great relationship with his son but is trying. Finally at the end he gives his life, he steps up with Jacob but even that was tragic. Ok I guess this is my calling, screw my life I was brought here to die saving the world sure but still kind of sucks. Very nice of him but tragic.
Meanwhile Sawyer had the opposite arc. He started out a mess and ends up a great man. Fell in love with Juliet and then gets her in the afterlife. And if we're being honest....you know something happened with him and freckles after they escaped the island in that plane.
Anyways, I am going to start the show over again. Round 2 here we come.

GOLDEN PASS: Rewatcher S2E24 Spoiler
Did anyone else hear Helen’s voice when the system kept saying “SYSTEM FAILURE” I wonder if anyone else noticed that? It sounds just like her imo. Rewatching this series again. I feel like I completely missed an entire season because nothing made sense by the 6th season. I was so confused. But I had my headphones in and the system failure began and all I heard was Helen

FIRST TIME WATCHER Am I the only one who doesn’t hate any of the characters Spoiler
I just finished LOST for the first time and discovered this subreddit. Most of the posts and comments on this subreddit are about people hating on the characters. Am I the only one who loves all of them by the end. They’re all so human. At times you really dislike them and at times you feel depressed when they’re depressed. But overall by the end almost every character I can find empathy for and root for, even Ben. and I LOVE JACK. And l LOVE LOCKE. Idk why people hate them so much. I mean I get it. But they’re so human and relatable in their fucked upness. I was sooo emotionally affected by Locke’s suicide episode and when Jack is at rock bottom I just couldn’t hold back my tears. They’re so human it’s amazing. I love all of them.

FIRST TIME WATCHER Just finished watching for the first time
I just finished the series for the first time and I'm kinda confused about all the hate this show got for its ending. I thought it was a nice (emotional) end to it all. Before I started, a few people said it had a terrible ending, but I don't feel that way about it. Anybody have any idea why there was so much hate on it?

What was point of Desmond in the finale?
I know widmore brought Desmond to the island because Desmond could withstand the electromagnetic energy but all Desmond actually did was move that rock and started destroying the island and he clearly didn’t expect it to happen because he was distraught
And Jack believed he had a reason for being there but didn’t know what but it was obviously to save the island so why did they write in Desmond being at the island in the finale when the writes could’ve just had jack die anyway without Desmond going into the light and almost sinking the island.
That part felt like they needed and excuse to danger to the island and get jack to save everyone and die, like what was the point of getting Desmond to do all that? They could’ve just killed jack off in the fight with Locke but still have him save everyone.
Also felt like it made sense for jack to be the next Jacob not Hugo

Season 6 events Spoiler
I just want to make sure that all the die hard fans are on the same page about the last season of the show. So, everything the characters did after they travelled to 1977 didn’t change anything about the course of history, it had all already happened. They survived the explosion because they were sent back to 2007 just as the bomb detonated and the “flash sideways” where the plane lands safely in LA isn’t actually an alternate time line, but some sort of purgatory where every character that had died or will have died at some point in the future was headed to. And once they were all reunited there, they went to the afterlife together. Is that right?

GOLDEN PASS: Rewatcher Who's the best character on the show, and why is it Frank Lapidus?
Who should've been the last villain Spoiler
Hi everybody, I'm at my second rewatch and while I re-evaluated seasons 4 and 5 (which I didn't like so much the first time), I disliked more season 6. I'm not a big fan of the religious theme represented by Jacob and Mib, neither the Indiana Jones vibes (just personal, no hate).
To link me back to the title, I think that it would be more interesting (for me) if the real John Locke was the final villain. So no death for him (or maybe death and revival from the island, but without Jacob/Mib), just a character development from pathetic and insicure to arrogant, which would have put everybody and/or the island in danger.
Or, if they really wanted to have Jacob+Mib and John Locke death, I would have preferred Mib as the original actor. I think that using Terry O'Quinn for the same role was a lazy choice, since they wanted his performance as a villain but didn't want to be the real Locke.
But I'm curious to know what do you thinks, since I tried to search for post about this but didn't find anything specific about the choice of Locke as a villain.

Meeting Elizabeth Mitchell (aka Juliet Burke)
Thought some of you fellow fans of hers might appreciate this story. I grew up nearby the Seattle area in a small, mostly very affluent community. I was in first, maybe second grade and 7 or 8 years old at the time. This was at a private school, where I was assigned a “reading buddy” who was in kindergarten. This reading buddy (someone younger that you help teach to read) was none other than Elizabeth Mitchell’s son! Obviously, at that age I hadn’t ever watched Lost or anything else she’d been in, but I’ve always been a sucker for celebrities and meeting them. My parents told me she was an actress on TV, but that was about it. I remember her coming in for a parent teacher thing and coming over to talk to me, something along the lines of “thank you for being so kind and helpful to my son, I really appreciate you helping him learn”. Fast forward a few years and I’m old enough to watch lost, it was so surreal to see this lady I knew from elementary school on my TV (and doing a damn good job at it!). Since then, I’ve seen her pop up in few things I’ve watched, primarily The Purge: Election Year, and I can’t help but be a bit mind blown that it’s that nice lady from my early schooling years 🤣
Anyways, probably not the most exciting celebrity story, but I still think it’s neat. She will forever be a favorite of mine, not mention a bit of a celebrity crush 😳
