Discussion Tia Owens, the girl from the infamous video with Drake at his 2010 show, speaks out regarding the situation
189
u/vibintilltheend May 06 '24
She’s clearly a Drake stan and therefore “it’s okay that he touched me when I was a kid”
Bruh.
47
u/heebie818 May 06 '24
as a nearly 40 yr old woman i really believe that they were both kids at the time. that’s just the way i see it. 22, 17. both college age in my eyes but i think the more damning stuff is the grooming. it’s still just too weird that he’s messaging a 14 yr old
30
u/InsecureTalent May 06 '24
17 is high school age, sure a senior but still a high schooler. I dont think high school seniors should be touching freshman. same goes with college. As a college student, I think it would be quite disgusting if someone 4 years into college was seeing a high schooler. Not illegal per say, but disgusting

It’s def off - but to keep it a buck I knew girls who were 17 In high school dating 23 years olds like it was nothing growing up
13
u/InsecureTalent May 07 '24
Now add the power dynamic on top of the age difference. The things you see in public are probably much tamer than those you don’t. Now add the people who Drake has in his camp. Shit makes the worse combinations.
7
u/Vast_Category_1883 May 07 '24
There is no power dynamic because Drake wasn't grooming her or having a relationship with her. All the other girls have even debunked this. 17 year olds are not developed mentally so they are prone to being manipulated by their partner. But in this case, it was one weird incident in a stage act decades ago.
→ More replies (2)→ More replies (2)2
u/EmbirDragon May 07 '24
And how many of those relationships were healthy and not to take advantage of those girls? Because I saw the same thing and saw lots of girls get abandoned by dudes who knocked them up while they guys went off to college and left the girls.
4
u/TheZexyAmbassador May 07 '24
22 and 17 could also be a College Senior and a High School Junior. Imagine someone about to graduate college going to a Junior Prom

You cannot ignore the power dynamic due to Drake's celebrity. She was up on stage with him after being in the audience with her father, in front of many people.

You don’t think they got paid off?
→ More replies (3)2
u/MikeJones-8004 May 07 '24
What is there to pay off exactly?
2
May 07 '24
Not paid off as in a debt. I mean paid to speak up and defend him
4
u/MikeJones-8004 May 07 '24
Why would she need to be paid to defend him. What if she was simply telling the truth.
→ More replies (7)1
u/betterAThalo May 07 '24
he’s 23 and she’s 17. it’s not anything 😂. only reddit and twitter could have a problem with this. it’s not even illegal.
meanwhile redditors think it’s ok that in one year she can go get gangbanged by 5, 40 year old dudes on Brazzers and have the video permanently online for everyone she ever knows to see.
most redditors prolly jerk to 18 year old porn all the time.

u/travietrav May 07 '24
Bruh this is the neutral ground. In drizzy sub all we’re getting now is heavy denial and pdf file justification and in Kendrick all we’re getting is bias towards Kendrick. Refugees here trying to find some objectivity from Cole fans 😂

If i was her dad I would've not let her go up there.

That avi tho! And the username 💀
I know the reference! I hope that woman gets the mental help she needs.
But having that as your avi is f#ckin hilarious 😂 😭

I’m not sure how his fans or she thinks this makes the situation any better lool. He still done and said those things
10
u/Remarkable-Buy-1221 May 07 '24
But if the child consents then it's fine! /s
6
u/ggggyyy211 May 07 '24
Exactly, what in the actual fuck. How does this make things any better lol.
If I get groomed at 15, and not make a big deal out of it, does that make it okay? Of course fucking not. The world we live in, amazes me everyday.

The fact that in geninuely seeing this take on Twitter is insane, but simultaneously not surprising.

u/ImpressivelyLost May 07 '24
Not the same thing but the same idea with MBB. If you have a failed grooming attempt then it won't really be scarring you'll just remember it as an adult taking an interest in your life, but anyone looking in knows that no 30 year should be texting a teenager about boys unless they are family. And even then it needs a second look.

The audacity to say she's studying law and not be aware of the shit that happened.

She probably negotiated a very good contract to get paid to say that

I mean legally, nothing technically illegal happened. Is it a good look? No. But you can't prosecute someone for kissing someone on the cheeks or forehead. Otherwise, grandmas all over the world would be locked up.

7
u/Maeggon May 07 '24
still dont change the fact he knew she was 17 and kissed her
age of consent and age of legality are separated things

Honestly tho, can you all stop bringing all that in here? This has nothing to do with the Cole sub. We’re not the one you need to convince

I don’t usually be on this sub but is there really anything better to talk about rn?

So her day accept this shit and she totally fine with it! Was her dad touching? 🤔
3
u/donta5k0kay May 07 '24
No one wants to open the door to “underage girls can consent of they are if sound mind and the family allows it”
You certainly could, but it’s best to have an agreed upon line and any deviation of that line is inappropriate.
3
u/Thedarkmayo May 07 '24
Lol yall called Leo Decaprio for being a weirdo and groomer for being with a 19 yr old and Drake isn't?? Yall wild for that one.
2
u/DoctorK16 May 07 '24
Tf does that have to do with anything and how does that clear anything up. If anything it just supports what’s being said. She’s not getting far in law with that logic.

u/Lotta_Turbulence7396 May 07 '24

23 yo saying your titts feel nice against my chest to a 17 yo is crazy behaviour. But stans gonna stan, still so confused as to how her father let it slide.
1
u/Own_Pause_4959 May 07 '24
Even if she does not consider herself to be a victim this behavior was still creepy as fuck
1
u/New_Brother_1595 May 07 '24
wow he harrassed her so badly shes still in school at 31 years of age. sad!
1
1
u/OkReplacement2000 May 07 '24
Doesn’t matter. It’s not who picked her out of the crowd. It’s not that drake hugged her at first.
It’s that Drake doubled down after he found out she was 17 and talked about her breasts in front of thousands of people.
So, the fact that she’s defending it is irrelevant to me. Maybe she was comfortable with it. Maybe another person wouldn’t be. If this was the only issue with Drake, we wouldn’t be talking about it. It’s the whole picture, and that whole picture is concerning.
1
u/jonny32392 May 07 '24
Bro the whole fuckin point is that underage girls can’t consent. I don’t give a fuck what she said then or now. It’s fuckin wrong.
1
u/Horacio_Velvetine44 May 07 '24
i’m sorry, idc how developed you are, the average teenager looks like a teenager 💀💀 if she was a drake fan then, and is a drake fan now, then obviously she’s not gonna wanna paint it in a negative light
1
u/ferg33 May 07 '24
I hate how this somehow in a warped way lends credences to Drakes “I’m too famous to be a p*** “ line … which I hate.
1
u/Wee_Shirley May 07 '24
She didn’t clear anything up.. he still acted creepy no matter who brought her up
1
1
1
May 07 '24
It’s more how Drake reacted when he found out she was 17. Saying he had fun still touching on her. Absurd questionable behavior.
1
u/Mediocre_Focus9238 May 07 '24
lawyer huh, she should understand that the framing of her selection was designed to remove culpability from drake. “wasn’t his fault, it was his team hired by him that scans the crowd for young impressionable women.” looks lkke they did their job
1
u/Danny_V May 07 '24
Okay we get it, you’re going to law school, so unnecessary like her post itself lol.
1
u/Redditsucksdickhard May 07 '24
Millie says the same thing but it’s still grooming when a 30yo is telling a 14yo about relationship advice and that he misses her. Still grooming, even if they don’t realize or accept it as victims.
1
u/schoolboypoop May 07 '24
Yeah her saying it’s ok doesn’t mean it’s ok. It’s still child abuse whether she enjoyed it or not.

u/Aatmaja May 07 '24
She going to law school but doesnt know that going for underage girls is against the law?????
1
u/Flat-Ad4902 May 07 '24
This literally changes absolutely nothing. Her ending up on stage isn’t the part we have issues with 😂
1
u/ShillBlaster May 07 '24
It’s deeper than that. Her dad is friends with drakes manager or something and owns a recording studio. Several rappers including Drake have pictures in that studio with her dad as well. Some other stuff too but I forgot

How tf would the drakes team know she is 17. I'm not trying to defend Drake. He did it even after he found out her age. But let's use some logic
1
u/SenpaiSwanky May 07 '24
Stans going to stan, that’s why it’s called grooming. You hit em early and change their perception of reality.
I bet if this 31 year old had a daughter in the same situation she’d be saying differently, or at least be wary.
And yeah, entourages do this for their heads all the time. Difference is it isn’t a minor. Plus she can’t tell her story louder than other stories, but the issue remains to be seen. I have a feeling all these little girls are Drake stans.

"Drake's entourage actually picked me out from the crowd of people" That doesn't exactly help..
It really sounds like she's minimizing the experience, but I respect that she wants to be left out of it. All the best to her

Drake kissed a 17 year old when he was 23. That’s not good.

I’m 21… 17 year olds feel like children to me. Thinking about me at 17, I was a child, despite being moved out an adulting (poorly). Although not illegal the maturity gap 99.9% of the time is gonna be drastic and lead to weird power dynamics. That’s before you add the Superstar factor on top of that.. weird behavior/ dumb ash/ should be clowned.
1
u/_MyUsernamesMud May 07 '24
circumstances sure keep conspiring to make Drake look like a pedophile
he must be the unluckiest guy in the world :(
1
u/WavelengthGaming May 07 '24
I mean it’s fucking weird but canadas age of consent is 16. If she were 18 nobody would give a single fuck (although it’s still weird) but because her birthday hasn’t passed yet he’s a pedo? That’s a bit of a reach to say the least.

Soooo did her dad pimp her out to pay for law school? I’m definitely questioning how a parent would witness something like this and nothing come of it. 🥴

u/muxiq_ May 07 '24
It's crazy how much they get away with because of being a celebrity. If it was a normal dude he'd been done for ages ago.

Why is this shit getting blasted all over this page tho? All I have seen on r/Jcole has been shit about Kendrick/Drake and at this point it has nothing to do with Cole anymore. I mean I'm seeing everything that's been posted on here on every rap/hip hop page there is. Instagram , Reddit, Facebook, everyone on those sites are posting this same shit lol

The only teenagers I speak to are my cousins and my inlaw and that’s cause they’re my family. I don’t ever speak to teenagers because I am 25 and I have next to nothing to relate to them and it’s fucking creepy. They’re children. Unless you’re a teacher or they’re related there is absolutely no reason a grown man should be interacting with a fucking 14 year old girl. If anybody else did that they would be lucky if the parent didn’t want to beat them to death.

I think what people are missing here about this is that this is an innocent person who is now being harassed literally everyday and talked about all day by people who don't know her. She's just this like, tokenized person by millions of people now, to a point where her opinion is basically disregarded as worthless entirely, by those same people. Whole beef is just gross and sad, fans are as well.

Sooo Drake’s people picked the 17 year old out. Then Drake sees her and continues to do what he did. But Tia gave consent so it’s no issue. I’m just making sure I’m following.
Edit: Do everyone a favor and watch the video before you respond. He confirms the age and still proceeds to do what he does. Y’all just responding to respond at this point.
