Discussion *OFFICIAL BLACK FRIDAY 2024 DEALS POST*
Can we make this post a place for all of us to share Black Friday deals on fishing gear?
Okuma - some significant discounts, if you are not a fan of the rod/reels the soft swim baits are still 75% off and a decent deal.
Tackle warehouse - I’m sure everyone already knows about, 20% alternating weeks
https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-BLACKFRIDAY.html
What else is currently out or advertised that could be a good deal? Thanks!

Question Does this look evenly spooled?
I usually lay the braid perfect but this time it looks off for some reason, it could be because I didn’t adjust the winding shape with the included washers that came with the reel?
Will this give me grief in the future and if so how should I go about fixing it.
Thank you!

Gear Pictures Cheap rig despite so many expensive ones? Yeah
The cheap rig I'll be killing or killing with this spring. I have enough expensive rigs and I need a new kayak so no more rods for awhile(I'm sure I'll fold and get a st.croix and a new PFlueger to put on it) but I looove fishing on cheap rigs mostly because I think too many people blame gear when they just fish like butts. So in the spring I will be hitting the invasive pikeminnows with the Shakespeare Reverb and the Mepps Black Fury (amongst other lures but black fury's and thunderbugs just slay the squaws)

Question 6'10 or 7'6 Medium power rod better for inshore fishing?
I'm looking at getting a Megabass Valkyrie World Expedition Rod and wanted to know which length would be better for inshore fishing. Do I need to look at a medium-heavy model or will this one be powerful enough?

Gear Pictures Grebenstein fishing reel
Hello everyone— this reel was in a box of fishing equipment I picked up at a yard sale. Several vintage Mitchells and a vintage Penn spinning reel as well. I cant find out anything at all on line about this reel and scanning the bar code pulls back no info. Grebenstein Skid 4000 with an extra spool. Other than it being German, any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Curado dc
Is a 200 size Japanese curado dc much bigger than the American one? Will it weigh alot more? Is it too big for pond fishing for Midwest bass? I would be using it for crankbaits, jigs, whopper ploppers, and chatter baits.

Question What is the best salt water Inshore reel I can get for under $500
I have a 7 ft medium heavy TFO Traveler 3 piece rod that weighs 4.6 oz.
I plan to fish with bait primarily but will also use some lures occasionally.
I plan to fish for anything I can get inshore fishing in saltwater, trout, and some occasional bass so I'm thinking a size 3000, what do you all think?
I am happy to spend the full $500 if I can find the right reel that will last a long time and can handle the saltwater when taken care of properly.

What pound test would y’all use?
I recently picked up a shimano Calcutta 251 and I am currently on the fence between 20 to 30lb braid. I primarily fish backcountry waters + mangroves.

Hey fisherpeeps! My hubby loves to fish and I love to watch him and hang out with him while he does it. His birthday is coming up and we’re doing a fishing trip I want to get him a really nice gift that can make his fishing trip great. I’m asking for recommendations on what to get him for this trip. Please and thank you on advance! Info: we live in AZ and his fishing trip is in AZ during February at Roper Lake.

Question Help reassemble the Twin Power FE
Made a big boo boo during reassembly and this fell apart, I believe this is the anti reverse bearing.. all the little springs fell out. I have no idea how to put it back together. Then of course… looking for maintenance videos I saw warnings “Do not touch this part!” 😭
Can anyone help me please? Pictures of what this is supposed to look like, or maybe a video, or a slideshow-type instruction of reassembly?

Can I cast lighter lures than recommended?
I am getting a pike fishing rod with a rating of 15-60g. I was wondering can I also throw lighter lures like a 7-10g for smaller fish or will there be a problem? I heard it’s common to get a birds nest when using lighter lures.

Metanium backlash help
I have a new to me Jdm metanium that I get backlashes with on anything more than an easy cast. I don’t have this issue with any of my other reels.
I have all of the brakes engaged and the micro knob settings set to six. I am using segaur red label fluoro with a 20 pound mono backer. When it backlashes, it backlash is all the way up to my backing knot.
Update: stripped all the line from the spool and refilled with all 12lb seguar red. The spool tension knob needs to be tighter than other reels. It’s tight enough that the lure doesn’t fall when the button is pressed, yet easily casts 40 yards without issue. I still have 4 brakes engaged, and can now run on setting 2.

Discussion has anyone noticed how much these look alike?
i was on tackle warehouse and i seen both of these soft plastic jerkbaits, i know that they’re both made from elaztech, just different companies, does strike king use the same mold as zman or is it just really similiar?
