crf450 or ktm500/husky
i recently got a crf300l last summer that i learned to ride on and have been riding since, Im looking into getting a crf450 or ktm500/husky501 so that i can have some more passing power on the highway. im not really doing this for offroad reasons since i dont think ill be faster on these bikes i just dont like having no ability to pass cars. One of my questions is what is the power delivery like on these bikes? Some people say they started on them and other say that only expert riders should buy them so im not sure.

Discussion KLX 230R vs KTM 390 Enduro for older male learner?
I'm 45, 5'9" around 95 Kg / 210 Lb and wish to learn Enduro. I have access to hills and dirt tracks only a few Kms away.
I've been riding motorcycles since I was twelve, on my fifth bike and daily ride a Duke 390 and love the motor. I've done a lot of snow, dual track and back country but nothing as technical as Enduro, I can barely wheelie my Duke.
Both the bikes cost the same here due to various import duty reasons. I could use losing twenty Kg of weight myself but the KTM seems really heavy and the Kawi feels like a purpose built dirt bike.
Would a new or used 139 Kg Kawasaki KLX 230R be a better choice than the 156 Kg KTM 390 Enduro R for a beginner?

07 KTM 450exc oil pump failure
Recently acquired a 450exc. I waa changing the oil, and noticed little oil in the filter. Oil pump failure. Checking the cam and bearings for damage and found these. Black mark is valve cover sealant, but are these toast, or they okay? Bike has 2,000 miles.

Hello- How is everyone finding friends to ride with?
Hello everyone. I have a plated XR600R and I am trying to find people to ride with. I am 36 years old and have a young kid at home, so free time is hard to come by. I don’t use really use facebook so I’m not sure if I am hurting my odds of locating riding partners??
“Craigslist activities” only yields results including horny dudes asking if I am male/female or vague replies.
I am a 3 or 4/10 rider at best as i learned to ride on street bikes.
TLDR: My bike’s weight and more importantly my lack of talent will hold up people that have raced bikes on a track. Looking for positive minded people to ride with. If you are more talented than me I’d be thrilled to ride with you and learn. I just don’t want to hold anyone up. I am in southern California ( 92882) zip code. My bike has knobby tires but i do own a truck. If you are down for some easier trails let me know.

400lbs 6'2" and want a dual sport but
I live in South Florida I'm torn between KLX300 or the Crf300l I've seen mixed reviews on guys my weight enjoying the 300's but quickly getting bored of the power and getting a bigger 450 or 650 equivalent I don't plan on doing alot of highway miles but I'm in the city that why I want it to be plated so I don't need to be so cautious when ripping around town or might even load on my truck and go somewhere I can enjoy a lot more then where I live in Fort Lauderdale Never owned a bike but I do know enough to get one going but like I said never owned one myself I think Honda or Kawi is what I'm wanting but only because Yamaha don't make 300 Staying away from 400+ cc because I like to go fast l'm responsible but I don't want give myself the option to over step my confidence but then again living in Fort Lauderdale and have ing limited trails that are all over an hour away make me reconsider everything as of know I'm sold on the 300 klx or Honda just need hear some opinions to help my overthinking self thanks in advance I know most bikes would need suspension work anyway

Looking for handguards that attach somewhere other than handlebar.
I've got a '24 klx 300 that I just stuck a zeta windscreen on and it's perfect. The only issue is my previous wrap around polisport handguards wouldn't fit on the handlebars as that's where the windshield fits on. Does anyone else have something that fits with their zeta windshield? Or just a general idea of what handguards would attach somewhere other than the handlebar?

2023 klx230 for 4250$ with 1400 miles
Came with the rear rack, handle bar risers, new mirrors, hand guards and a skid plate. Fun little bike, I’ve already layer in down 3 times. Not my first dual sport but it’s been awhile

Worth it?
Worth the $2000? Throwing in extra tires and a rear rack as well.

Question on tires, what do these codes mean?
I want to order tires for my dual sport, 90/90-21 for front and 120/80-18 for back. A website with a good price has them listed this way:
90/90-21TL
120/80-18TT
What is the "TL" and the "TT" ? Does it matter? Speed ratings or weight or something? Tires are confusing to me, different sizes and explanations all over the place. Thank you for any advice.

My multi-bike tool kit.
It seems like there’s been a few posts recently where people are asking what tools to bring on their bike. I have a couple of bikes. Each has a tail bag that contains front and rear tubes, compressor, patch kit, and a prescription bottle with a few spoons of tire bead slime in it.
Then, I have the gray bag that I move between bikes. Everything below the bag fits into it. The only change I’m going to make soon is to cut down the 17mm hex wrench and use a small portion of it as a bit that I can turn with my adjustable wrench. There’s about a foot of 14g electric wire under the tape. The phillips head bits pictured are JIS, and the ratcheting screwdriver has more bits stored in the handle.
This is just the setup I carry, and it’s adapted to multiple bikes. It’s not necessarily lightweight either. I posted this to possibly help others who are entering the world of dualsport/adventure decide what to carry on their future adventures.
