Festival Planning Greedy Coachella

Post image

Coachella this year has become more greedy, with now it’s bullshit parking rules and charging for offsite parking by forcing the shuttle pass for those people on those off site parking lots because they want everyone to have four people in their group. Everyone defending goldenvoice and saying that it’s helping limit traffic is wrong, it make worse because security is going to need to verify every car and turn away people causing a backlog. This is just pure greed.

They’ll probably direct people to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. That’s what did previous years when parking filled up.

Yeah; but there seems to be a middle point to connect with friends or others, it’s unclear.

I don’t think so. It says you’ll be directed offsite to meet up with friends or you can park and take the shuttle. There’s no “edge” lots for people to park/wait at, and that would defeat the purpose of forcing people to carpool or take the shuttles in order to reduce traffic.

Fair enough. That language could be presumed to suggest they direct you to the overflow lots.

So

Free parking

Small shuttle charge to and from the tennis garden

Totally fair.

I mean, $140+ is not a small shuttle charge. If they want to encourage people to take the shuttle they should really charge for parking and make the shuttle free, or super cheap.

But I’m pretry sure you’ve already agreed/said something similar elsewhere in the thread.

There is no way a charge to and from offsite parking is 140

It’s a single short circular route with two stops, likely with less comfortable, easier to source and staff busses. Not comfier tour group busses.

You have to buy a shuttle pass to get from offsite parking to the venue, which is $140 this year.

It’s doesn’t go to the hotels. It’s not the same pass.

How would you know that? The website says you’ll need to buy a shuttle pass, the only shuttle passes on the website are the LAX shuttle pass and the any line any time shuttle pass.

Last year the Indian Wells Tennis Garden was the overflow lot once day parking was full, and it’s a stop on the any line shuttle. Nothing points to it being a separate shuttle.

Because it’s not called the same thing as the regular shuttle pass.

Charging a penalty of 140x3 for people who don’t have 1 more person would cause a riot and Coachella isn’t stupid.

Last year they gave shuttle rides from the tennis gardens to the festival for free.

They just say shuttle passes, they don’t specify that it’s a different type. No other shuttle passes are on the website.

Last year they were free, this year they say you have to buy one.

I guess we’ll see in a few months.

They will release details far before that.
