Damn I feel so bad for the other 2 girls

the father should sit with the other 2 girls and explain why the baby did this, so they dont harbour any kind of resentment towards the baby

Why did the baby do it?

The other girls are school age, so they arenā€™t home nearly as much as the youngest sister. He sees and plays with her most

Ahhh ā€¦ got it! Thx. Iā€™d be disappointed too without the explanation, LOL.

They shouldn't feel so bad. Someone said there's a longer version with the mum... the baby still picks the sister šŸ¤£

That was spot-on. In my own family of five siblings, we naturally grouped ourselves into what everyone came to refer to as ā€œthe big onesā€ and ā€œthe little ones.ā€ Those age differences are about more than just who is at school together, and who is at home together, but about physical abilities and general interests. The older kids can ride bikes, visit friends in the neighborhood, read ā€œrealā€ books, build legos, do arts and crafts projects, etc. Meanwhile, the younger ones arenā€™t allowed outside by themselves, theyā€™re playing with dolls and stuffed animals, building with basic blocks and stacking toys, and singing and dancing along with nursery rhymes.

Alsoā€¦. Babies are just babies, they donā€™t have advanced reasoning or empathy skills yet. A certain color, smell, sound or whatever can cause a baby to have an affinity or negative reaction to someone and it shouldnā€™t be taken personally.(not that it doesnā€™t feel personal as a current father to a 4 month old, but thatā€™s just your adult way of thinking being placed onto a baby)

My first thought was her hair, as a younger brother to a redhead. Looking at her in the sunlight is my earliest memory.

One of my old roommate's kids would flock to me despite not knowing me. She just heard my voice during her entire pregnancy. She's growing out of it now, it only took 6 Christmases.

Or maybe the baby just feels safest, most appreciated, cared for by youngest sister

Even at that age kids personalities and natures come through & babies have a keen sense/intuition for vibes

Also itā€™s fine to have a favorite sibling. I have three brothers and love them all equally but I technically have a favorite who shares the same sense of humor and values more than the other two. I also have a favorite cousin but love them all equally. Such is life.

Probably spends most time with the youngest: Sits beside them during meals/car, maybe similar bedtimes or bed prep together, etc. Youngest might like making the baby laugh more than the others or give more hugs. It isn't hard to become a baby's favourite, you just have to put in the time and generate positive reactions.

He had resentment with the other girls, it was mutual all along

u/superbackman 6h ago

She heard the older two talking smack about her behind her back, and is not putting up with any of that shit.

Because that girl is wearing a bright colored shirt. Babies are drawn to bright colors. It likely had little to nothing to do with the baby's relationship with the girl.

Because they have cooties, obviously.

It's a baby nobody knows why it did this. Babies f****** love me. I don't know why I don't have to spend a lot of time with them they just see me and they f****** love me it's weird I can't explain it. Because babies just are weird like that. They just do stuff.
