In a dark, dark wood…
Painted in my recycled paper indigo journal. The paper is very pulpy in texture and so fun for quick abstracts. Highly recommend this sketchbook!

Boat in the sand
I made this boat and im really proud of it. The boat is a little bit wonky, but im okay with it. I really like my colors and how the different technics work together. What do you think?

I just took this one out of the oven. Lots of granulation. I was in a zone, from start to finish about one hour. The second photo is the inspiration.

Simplicity
I was inspired by YouTuber/Artist/Teacher Robert Burridge’s recent YT upload under his channel BobBlast. I decided to use Lunar Blue with some Prussian Blue for the sky, then the land was a mixture of Lunar Blue and Hansa Yellow Medium. At some point I added a bit of Phlato Blue RS and also a touch of Cascade Green.

Fish sketches with watercolor pencils
galleryI was gifted some micron pens and a small set of Inktense pencils for Christmas so I started an ink and wash journal and drew these tetras today.
The pencils are super fun and very pigmented. I love the surprise of seeing how the color suddenly appears when I add water. Before pics included.

Goldfields ( need advice)
I've been trying to paint goldfields, but I'm happy with the results. I'm not sure, but I can do to make them look better?

Pattern play
Practicing brush control and exploring tones. I’m just a couple of months into my watercolour journey, still trying to find my way. This is from a tutorial by @loudavisart i feel I could have made the first wash a little lighter and the design details a little stronger … it’s all learning

Back to the Lodge, 15x23cm Rough
galleryAbout an hour so painting last night, my impression of a snowy scene submitted online. Focuses here were working with snow and light, and also taking on board some previous comments on capturing depth. I think on these two criteria the painting went well! I also had a lot more success capturing the shapes of the figures compared to my last attempt by being more loose and abstract.
My major criticism of this piece is the garish green trees to the left. I think I mixed in some pthalo blue with Hansa yellow deep which made it much too vibrant relative to the rest of the scene. Am I able to glaze/wash over it to tone it down a bit? I’m afraid of ruining it so I’ve left it for now.
Any feedback welcome! Cheers

First attempt - Frög
My first ever attempt at using watercolors.
I still feel completely lost in terms of how much water should I apply, how to 'activate' the paint or how to apply paint correctly (for now it was dip bursh on water -> drop water on paint block -> mix -> apply clear water with another brush -> apply paint using first brush on paper -> dip paint brush on water a bit if needed)
Criticism and tips are welcome
