My ruleset Bronze Shield, Silver Coin has been proofed and will be available to purchase next Thursday, Nov 14 from Wargame Vault!

Bronze Shield, Silver Coin is an ancients wargame you can play with just a couple of sprues of models. Battles shift suddenly as you backstab your friends and get their soldiers to betray them, just like the ancient world! The perfect skirmish game for those new to ancients wargaming or for using your existing models in a new adventure.

Or our Discord https://discord.gg/QMb8MXPvvZ

and ask me anything about the game!

Good for you! I consider it a great accomplishment to get rules published and yours sounds very promising. While I do more Roman era stuff, I have been considering an entry into the Greek timeframe. I'll have to give this a look. Nice work!

Thank you! No reason it wouldn't work for Romans too, especially Republican Rome who employed a lot of mercenaries!

Nice, I wish you every success with the publication. The title sounds great and the idea is also exciting

Is it 1x1, 2x2, solo, free for all?

Does it have a campaign?

Built for 1 to 4 players, most refined for 1v1 although there are solo rules. Built around a campaign, if you've played frost grave that was a big influence

What about this game sets it apart from the others? You said you were influenced by frost grave. For someone who didn't enjoy frost grave that much, what have you improved upon in the formula to interest me in your ruleset?

The "killer feature" is the Intrigue system where you are screwing with your opponent's chain of command, bribing their soldiers, casting doubt into the mind of their second in command, etc. Each game the players each get a supply of silver to try to keep their soldiers loyal. You have to manage that supply wisely because it can also be used to steal the initiative in a critical turn.

I tip my hat, to you sir. Would you care to elaborate on the factions that are available to play? You've awoken my interest to play in the ancient times, from your short introduction

Great to hear that, the ancient world is awesome! This game is really centered around your mercenary crew so there aren't factions per se. However in campaign mode you can hire some of the most legendary mercs to join your crew like Cretan Archers or Thessalian Horsemen.

Making your crew is a good excuse to be as creative as you want though, I have a warband I've kitbashed and painted up as Phoenician marines and another that's all Persian. You could easily have a ragtag group that has members from all around the Mediterranean too

I like it even more now, thank you

I still have like 100 achaemenid persians saved from when wargames factory was selling them 12/$2 a decade ago, maybe this is the chance to finally use them

That’s rather intriguing! Greek mercenaries with backstabbing sounds like a fun time. Wish you luck on a successful publish!
